The Nigeria’s Pillar of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu-Ejidike, has congratulated the Team-Nigeria to the just-concluded 13th African Games held in Accra, Ghana, for their superlative performance at the quadrennial event.
Nigeria finished second best team, with a total of 121 medals, comprising 47 Gold, 34 silver, and 40 bronze. The team finished behind Egypt who won a total of 191 medals, consisting of 102 Gold, 47 silver, and 42 bronze.
Ejidike who is also a former president of the Karate Federation of Nigeria (KFN) hailed the team for their consistency, saying that, Nigeria has once again proved to the world that there is an abundance of sporting talents in the country, that if well-harnessed, are capable of ruling the world in their respective areas of specialty.

He also commended the Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh, the President of the Nigerian Olympic Committee (NOC), the leader of the Nigerian delegation to the Games, the head of the various sporting federations, the coaches, and other critical stakeholders for their respective contributions that culminated in the overall performance of the team.
Ejidike also commended the athletes in particular for putting smiles on the faces of Nigerians back home and assured them of how appreciative Nigerians are, of their patriotism, as they hoisted the Green-White-Green flag of the nation with passion and pride.
He enjoined the athletes who had secured qualifications for the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, to go all out later in the year, and conquer the world, with more eye-catching performances that would see them beat the best at the global level, to become World Champions.
