God will choose my successor – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, said on Monday he has been having private discussion with potential governorship aspirants in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), telling them “to allow him seek God’s consent” on the choice of a successor.

He said although aspirants have the right to aspire for the state’s number one seat, he (Fayose) also has the right to support whoever God asks him to support for the 2018 governorship race.

Fayose said he had invited aspirants like his deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola; former Commissioner for Works, Mr. Kayode Oso and former Wema Bank Group Managing Director, Mr. Adebisi Omoyeni “into the room” to allow him seek the face of God on his successor.

The governor spoke on Tuesday at his Afao-Ekiti country home during a meeting with PDP aspirants and leaders from Ikole, Ijero and Ise/Orun local government areas of the state.

His alleged opposition to the governorship ambition of Deputy Senate Minority Whip, Senator Biodun Olujimi; former Deputy Governor, Chief Abiodun Aluko, party’s national spokesman, Prince Dayo Adeyeye and others has been causing tension in the party.

Fayose said: “Followers need not create a wedge between me and gubernatorial aspirants. As much as aspirants have the right to aspire, I also reserve the right to support whoever God asks him to support.

“If I were asked to pick a candidate to succeed me, I would have picked Kayode Oso straight off. But I have called him into the room and told him to allow me seek God’s consent concerning it.

“I have called my deputy, Prof. Kolapo Olusola. I have also called Bisi Omoyeni into the room and asked him to allow me seek God’s consent. Whoever God chooses, we will support among the aspirants. Whoever that is not the one, the spirit of sportsmanship should be embraced.

“I have nothing against Prince Adedayo Adeyeye. I have great respect for him, from ministerial appointment to chairmanship (of the Governing Council) at Ekiti State University and then his recommendation to the party at the national level.

“I have always stood by him. I wouldn’t have done that for someone I don’t love, so mischief makers had better looked elsewhere to play their game.”

Fayose also appealed to party members to downplay personal agenda and ensure the party’s interest is put on the front burner, adding that “never will any candidate be imposed on the people.

Ekiti poll: I’m on a redemption mission – Oni

A former governor of Ekiti State,  Segun Oni, said on Wednesday his 2018 governorship election bid is a redemption mission and urged every progressive-minded person to be part of the process.

He is eyeing the All Progressive Congress (APC) ticket for next year’s governorship election in Ekiti.

Oni, who is also the Deputy National Chairman (South) of APC, spoke in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday.

He said: “My re-election as governor of the state is on a mission of redemption and I urge everyone who sees himself as a progressive to join the train and be a partaker.

“And for those who are yet to fathom how it will manifest, I will advise that they should be patient and be watchful because this is an assignment God has perfected and which no one can undo.

“Blackmail can’t undo it. Let’s work together and face the task ahead to free the state from the stranglehold of its captors.

“It is still strange to me that some people in APC believe that just any aspirant would do.

“The correct position is that Ekiti State is hugely populated by residents of voting age and when we employ strategic thinking and approach, our party would regain power in the state.

“We have a very good opportunity this time around and we must work together to get to our Uhuru.

“Enough of anonymous newsletters and pamphleteering to disparage my person.

“If they are yet to come to terms with the reality, with all intents and purposes I will be the next governor of Ekiti State by God’s grace.

“Today, the popular candidate wins election, most especially in this our Ekiti.

“The people can now see clearly and think wisely to decide who they want as their governor. Today, the electorate votes for one with the best name, integrity and image.”

The former governor, however, queried attacks on his person, but quickly said: “he, who has head, must surely feel the pain of headache.

“I am a factor in the APC, I’m not surprised at the daily attacks on my person. You cannot be the leading aspirant and expect not to be attacked.”

  • Fayemi colluding with Supreme Court judges to sack me – Fayose

Fayemi colluding with Supreme Court judges to sack me – Fayose

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has accused his predecessor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, of plotting to “come back to power through the backdoor,” by enlisting the support of the judiciary to reverse his victory in the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state.

Fayose alleged that Fayemi and his allies in the Presidency are working with three Supreme Court judges to invalidate the 2014 governorship election result and bring the Minister of Solid Minerals back to power and suppress the electoral wishes of Ekiti people.

The governor, who addressed a press conference on Monday at the Osuntokun Lodge, Government House, Ado Ekiti, vowed to resist any attempt to steal the mandate given to him in what he described as “free, fair and credible election recommended as a model by international community, local and foreign election observers.”

He accused Fayemi of “name dropping” attempting to subvert democracy and turning Ekiti to a banana republic.

But the Special Assistant on Media to the Minister, Olayinka Oyebode, said Fayose would not be dignified with any response, describing the governor’s allegation as “laughable.”

Oyebode said: “The allegation is laughable, we will not want to dignify his allegation with any response. The wicked runneth when nobody pursueth.”

Fayose said one of the Supreme Court justices recently arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in a midnight sting operation alleged that a friend of Fayemi came to lobby him (the judge) to assist in reversing the 2014 governorship election result.

Alluding to an interview Fayemi granted THIS DAY newspaper in the edition of March 26, 2017 where the former governor reportedly described the 2014 governorship election as “unfinished business”, Fayose said he had to raise alarm because the alleged plot “has now reached an advanced stage.”

Apart from the newspaper interview, Fayose also claimed that Fayemi in meetings with chieftains and members of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) had boasted that he (Fayose) would be removed from office very soon.

He vowed not to back down from being the voice of opposition in Nigeria, advising the APC -led Federal Government to always do what is right and make life easier for Nigerians.

  • 2018: Pdp ‘ll win Ekiti poll

2018: Pdp ‘ll win Ekiti poll

Former Ekiti State Deputy Governor Sikiru Lawal has said that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will win next year’s governorship election.
Dr. Lawal, who is a governorship aspirant said the PDP is on ground in all 2,195 polling units, 177 wards, 16 local government areas, six federal constituencies and three senatorial districts.
He said the All Progressives Congress (APC) only existed on the pages of newspapers and lacks grassroots appeal, adding that, if the election be conducted today, the PDP will coast home to victory.
While predicting that next year’s election will be tough, owing to APC’s control of power at the federal level, Lawal, who is the Baba Adinni of Ekiti land, said the PDP enjoys support of the people who will vote at the polls.
Lawal, who retired as a Director in the civil service, also served as the Sole Administrator of Ikere Local Government. He is at present the member representing Ekiti State on the board of Odua Investment Limited, a business conglomerate owned by the six Southwest states.
The ex-deputy governor said the PDP will be banking on what he called “the popularity and sterling performances of the incumbent governor and leader of the party in the state, Mr Ayodele Fayose.”
Speaking with newsmen in Ado Ekiti, Lawal said his party has executed landmark people-oriented programmes initiated by Governor Fayose in the last two years, adding this has endeared the party to the people.
Lawal, who asked the APC to forget Ekiti, said the ruling party will be disappointed, if it anticipates the repeat of Ondo scenario in the state.
The Ado Ekiti-born politician criticized former Governor Kayode Fayemi, describing his government as “a colossal setback to the progress and economic prosperity of the state.”
Lawal said: “Ekiti is a politically-conscious state and the governorship election will be tough. But let me assure you, we are winning with wide margin. How do you expect the APC that left over N76 billion debt burden on us to win election?
“Before the advent of President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, a litre of petrol was N87 and is now sold for N145. Prices of food items had gone up in three folds and our naira is being ranked the worst in Africa is terms of exchange rates with a dollar which now stands at N450 per dollar contrary to N215 per dollar under Ex-President
    Goodluck Jonathan.
“We are approaching this election on a popular goodwill the PDP and administration of Ayo Fayose have built with the people. Governor Fayose has dualised major roads in about six towns and he is currently building a flyover and new Oja Oba in Ado Ekiti.
“No matter what the APC does, they will lose this election because they have nothing to campaign with in Ekiti”.
Lawal said he will emerge as the PDP’s candidate, owing to his pedigree as a former deputy governor and loyal party man, who had always stood by the party during precarious times.
He also assured that the APC will be dazed at poll, if it expects the repeat of Ondo scenario in the election.
“Well, the PDP lost in Ondo due to technical and tactical errors. The enemies within were used to scatter us and Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the APC won.
“But, Ekiti is going to be a different ballgame. In terms of religion and ethnicity, Ekiti is predominantly homogenous, unlike Ondo State.
“Whoever the people wanted as the governor since 1999 had always emerged through the popular will of the people and if you check properly, the PDP is popular at the grassroots in Ekiti.
“The APC is only popular in witch-hunting of the opposition and on the pages of newspapers through occasional statements by the Publicity Secretary, Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun. The APC poses no threat as far as we are concerned “.
Lawal assured that the factional crisis rocking the party will be resolved soon, commending former President Goodluck Jonathan for starting a process of mediation between Ali Modu Sheriff and Ahmed Makarfi’s factions.
He appealed to members of the PDP to resist attempt by
those he described as fifth columnists to use judiciary to destabilise the party, ahead of the 2018 governorship poll.
The PDP said the judgment of a Federal High Court, Ado Ekiti, which sacked the Gboyega Oguntuase-led executive committee loyal to Fayose, will be overturned at the Court of Appeal.

  • Obanikoro: I gave Fayose $5.37m cash for Ekiti poll

Obanikoro: I gave Fayose $5.37m cash for Ekiti poll

    ‘Dasuki ordered release
    of N2.2b to governor’

    Ex-minister defends action

DETAINED former Minister of State (Defence) Musiliu Obanikoro has implicated Governor Ayodele Fayose in the probe of the N4.745billion wired to a company by the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA).

The cash was wired to Sylva Mcnamara, which has been linked to Obanikoro within seven months in 2014.

Sen. Obanikoro said of the cash, N2.23billion was transferred to Fayose.

He handed Fayose $5,377,000 in cash and N1.3billion was received by the governor’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele.

Obanikoro admitted that the N1.3billion was flown to Akure airport in two chartered flights for delivery to Agbele.

The money was sourced from the $2.1billion meant for arms purchase at the ONSA.

Obanikoro told Economic and Financial Crimes (EFCC) detectives that he is not the owner of Sylva Mcnamara that was used to transfer the funds to Fayose.

But he defended why the money was remitted to Mcnamara. Part of the reason is the warding off of a plot by Boko Haram to attack Lagos, he claimed.

Accompanied by his lawyer, Mr. James Onoja(SAN), the ex-minister was confronted with a petition from ONSA which was dated November 28, 2015.

The petition is titled “Payment to companies with no contract awards or approval”.

He said having gone through the petition, he discovered that Sylva Mcnamara was No. 78 on the list of firms being investigated, having “collected the aggregate sum of N4,685,000,000 between April 4, 2014 and November 13, 2014.

A source quoted Obanikoro as saying that “N2.2billion was transferred to Sylva Mcnamara for onward transfer to Mr. Ayodele Fayose on the instruction of the National Security Adviser (NSA).

“The sum of N1.3billion cash was brought in a bullion van by Diamond Bank on the instruction of the NSA.

“In addition, the sum of N60million was converted to dollars at the rate of N168 per dollar and altogether the sum of $5,377,000 was handed over in cash by me to Mr. Fayose while the N1.3billion was received by Mr. Fayose’s associate, Mr. Abiodun Agbele, in the presence of my Aide-de-Camp (ADC), Lt. Adewale, who also accompanied them to the bank along with the bank officials.

“I didn’t interact with the bank officials. I called Fayose before the funds were handed over to Mr. Abiodun Agbele. I spoke to Fayose with my phone at Akure airport.”

On how the cash was transferred to Fayose, the source said Obanikoro told investigators that “two flights were used to convey the money from Lagos”.

The ex-minister said he “took off with the first flight with part of the money. The second flight brought the remaining funds to Akure airport and I directed that it should be handed over to the same person,” he was quoted as saying.

The source said Obanikoro however maintained that part of the cash was used to ward off Boko Haram aggression in Lagos and in the Southwest.

The source added: “He told us that he is not the owner of the company in question but introduced the owner, Mr. Kareem Taiwo, to the NSA, Mr. Sambo Dasuki, when the threat of Boko Haram became more visible in Lagos.

He said the government wanted to “incorporate local  input into the intelligence gathering and prevention of terrorist attack on Lagos and the Southwest”.

The EFCC had discovered that Sylvan Mcnamara Limited, allegedly owned by Obanikoro and his sons,   was used to launder the N4.745billion.

The company, which was incorporated in November 2011, has the following as its directors: the ex-Minister’s aide, Ikenna Ezekwe(700,000 shares) of 51 Simpson Street, Ebute-Metta; Idowu Oshodi(299,000 shares) of 8, Prince Tayo Adesanya Street, Park View Estate, Ikoyi; and Elizabeth Adebiyi(1,000 shares) of 3, Adedoyin Street, Ijeshatedo, Surulere.

Ezekwe has had his accounts defrozen by the EFCC since the slush funds were not traced to him.

The Nation stumbled on a document on the investigation. t states: “To set the stage for the use of the company for money laundering, the board of directors on May 7, 2012  passed a resolution that the company should open an account and appointed Mr. Gbolahan Obanikoro, Ikenna Ezekwe, Ms. Theresa Matuluko (Secretary) and Mr. Babajide Obanikoro as the signatories to the account.

“The board added that the signing combination be that any of the signatories can sign alone.”

According to EFCC, when it was time to draw the N4.745billion from ONSA as a war chest for the Ekiti governorship poll, ex-Minister Obanikoro made the account of Sylvan Mcnamara Limited available and coordinated the disbursement.

The breakdown of the disbursement is as follows:

    • N N759, 384, 300 changed into dollars through Bureau de change;
    • N160million used to purchase cars through Balmoral International Limited;
    • N1, 219, 490,000 ferried by Obanikoro in two flights to Akure and received by Fayose’s associate, Abiodun; and
    • balance of about N2billion withdrawn by Obanikoro and his two children in cash.

Some of the bureau de change involved in the transactions and the amounts credited to them include  A.A.G.B.S Oil and Gas  (N168,000,000.00); Sylvan Mcnamara Ltd (N167,500,000.00); Northline Ltd (N835,000.00);  Northline Ltd (N83,750,000.00); Five Star Ltd N(37,600,000.00); A.B.A Trading Ent (N268,301,500.00); Villagolf Bureau De Change (N1,425,000.00); Ahmad &Omar (N350,000.000); Northline Ltd  (N1,680,000.00); Northline Limited A (N2,325,300); Rehoboth Homes  (20,000,0000); Northline Ltd (N5,932,500.00); Northline Ltd (N842,500); Northline Ltd (N842,500.00).

  • ‘Fayose’s election must not stand’

A former Deputy Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adetunji Orisalade, has insisted that justice must prevail on the alleged rigging of the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state.

In a statement released to journalists in Ado Ekiti, the state capital on Thursday,  Orisalade urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the judiciary to intervene and ensure that justice is done on the matter.

The ex-deputy speaker, who represented Ido/Osi 2 Constituency in the Fourth Assembly between 2011 and 2015, said his appeal became necessary following the revelations made by a former Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Dr. Tope Aluko.

Orisalade, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Badagry Branch,  Lagos, maintained that the structures produced by that election must not be allowed to stand because of the alleged “judicial coup” against the people of Ekiti by agents of ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration.

He said Aluko deserves commendation rather than vilification for saying the truth on what transpired during the poll.

  • Still on the Ekiti Poll

    Still on the Ekiti Poll

Many months back, one Sagir Koli, a Nigerian Army Captain, became an instant media celebrity after he released what he claimed was the audio evidence of how some top officials of the Federal Government and the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, used the Nigerian Army and other security apparatuses to rig the 2014 governorship elections in both Ekiti and Osun states. The two elections were held in June, 2014 and August, 2014 respectively. Koli was officially redeployed from his base in Akure, Ondo State, as the 32 Artillery Brigade Intelligence Officer, to provide credible Intelligence toward’s the success of Ekiti State governorship election.

In the widely reported news that gripped the entire nation by surprise, Koli gave details of all that transpired between himself, his commander, Brigadier General A. A.  Momoh, two ministers and some politicians, prior to the elections. He had narrated how, at about 8.30pm on the day before the Ekiti election, Brig-Gen Momoh requested him (Koli) to accompany him to a place where the then Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, wanted to see him. According to Koli, the meeting took place at the premises of Spotless Hotel in Ado- Ekiti, which served as coordinating campaign office for Ayodele Fayose, the PDP candidate. He said the meeting also had in attendance, other notable PDP bigwigs who were specifically drafted from Abuja, for the election.

Koli said that it was the outcome of what was discussed at that meeting that gave the party victory during the election that was held the following day in all the 16 LGAs. In short, the kennel of his expose was that they were forced to do a dirty job for the PDP with a threat of court martial if they failed to carry out the plans.

Since the revelation was made last year, so many things have happened. In the first instance, a good number of APC members have had one bad story or the other to relay to the public. The stories have revealed the ugly side of elections in Nigeria and the role played by money in all of them. It is so bad that you will find it difficult to believe that what we have been having in Nigeria are rarely elections as political contests in a democratic setting where people are made to vote freely without hindrance, fear or favour but a sort of warfare where money, huge amount of money, arms and ammunition are deployed.

The army has probed the involvement of some of its officers in both the Ekiti and Osun elections and some of its personnel have been indicted. This notwithstanding, the position of Fayose as the governor of Ekiti State, who is a major beneficiary of the charade that allegedly took place, has remained unshaken. This is largely because the issue of the said Ekiti elections had been decided long ago by the Election Petitions Tribunal, the Appeal Court and the Supreme Court. But what cannot be easily wished away, is the hue and cry about the role rigging played at the governorship election, an episode that has become a major feature of elections in Nigeria.

Last Sunday, one Temitope Aluko, a former Secretary of the Ekiti State chapter of the PDP, shocked Nigerians when he alleged that former President Goodluck Jonathan gave Governor Ayo Fayose N4.7bn cash to prosecute the June 21, 2014 governorship election in Ekiti State. Aluko said the money was used to defeat the then Governor of the state, Kayode Fayemi, who was the governorship candidate of the APC. Aluko essentially revealed how the PDP rigged the governorship election. He said he was part of the team that prosecuted the election on behalf of the PDP, adding that he was the Chairman of the Intelligence and Security Committee for the Fayose Campaign Organisation. He also explained that he handled the waiver Fayose got from the PDP at the national level to enable him qualify to take part in the governorship primary.

To buttress the role he played in the emergence of Fayose, Aluko said he delivered the congresses that produced Fayose and was also the governor’s principal witness at the Election Petitions Tribunal. He said Jonathan initially gave Fayose $2m in March 2014 for the primary election, pointing out that this money was collected at the NNPC Towers, Abuja. According to Aluko: “It was about $35m, which is about N4.7bn he (Jonathan) gave us for the real election and for the primaries. He released $2m to Fayose. I have details of all I am saying and I was present when they brought the money and it was Senator Musiliu Obanikoro that brought the money, the $35m, which he delivered to Fayose at Spotless Hotel. I can name eight people that were there. We were all there because he said he would want us to take delivery so that there will be transparency and accountability. The $35m was taken to a bureau de change in Onitsha where it was converted to N4.7bn.”

Recall that the roiling Dasukigate has exposed the shenanigans of the PDP hierarchy’s mass looting of the nation’s treasury to foster the interest of the party during the last presidential election. The name of Obanikoro has suddenly propped up in the ever lengthening list of beneficiaries in that scandal that has held the whole world spellbound. Therefore, last Sunday’s confession by Aluko only shows that the raping of the treasury had been on long before the presidential election last year.

But why did it take Aluko such a long time to confess his sins against the people of Ekiti? The answer is simple. In the first instance, he and others in his camp agreed to do the dirty job for the love of the stomach. In fact, he allowed his stomach, rather than his head, to rule him. The man himself attested to this in his famous confession when he alluded to the fact that, “before the election, Fayose, Femi Bamishile and I jointly swore with the Holy Bible on a sharing formula after we must have won the election. We agreed that Fayose would be governor, Bamishile his deputy and I, as Chief of Staff. But the moment he got into office, Fayose reneged on the agreement and left me in the lurch. More worrisome is the fact that Fayose has derailed from the original Ekiti project we envisaged.”

It is quite clear that the major grouse of Aluko is the fact that he was left out in the sharing of the spoils of war after he was used for a dirty job to which he conceded out of greed and lack of commonsense. His talk that Fayose has derailed from the original Ekiti project they envisaged is just to curry unnecessary sympathy. If I may ask, what type of laudable project can come from a person like Aluko or even his other partner who was impeached as Speaker of the State House of Assembly sometimes ago? And the Bible was used to swear to falsehood. May God forgive them?

It is sad that for a long time running, in a state like Ekiti that is so blessed with people who can stand their own in the comity of academics anywhere in the world, finding the right people to pilot the affairs of the state has been a herculean task. What Ekiti needs today are people who are dedicated to offering selfless service, who have the love of the state and the people at heart, men and women who are patriotic enough to galvanise the populace for sustainable progress and development. It is certainly not these hungry charlatans prowling all over the place. At any rate, these confessions show the type of crooks masquerading as politicians in Nigeria.

  • Ekiti PDP faults expelled scribe’s evidence before army panel

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State has faulted the evidence of its expelled Secretary, Dr. Tope Aluko, before the Maj.-Gen. Adeniyi Oyebade-led Army panel probing the alleged complicity of some soldiers during the June 21, 2014 governorship election in the state.

The party said it was ridiculous that a non-member of the party could be admitted to testify at the panel despite his “widely publicized expulsion by the party on July 31.

Aluko appeared before the panel to state all he knows about the alleged use of the military to give advantage to PDP by virtue of his position as the then party scribe and membership of security committee for the polls.

He was also believed to have tendered what a source described as “very incriminating documents” that would assist the panel in its investigations.

But the PDP in a statement issued by its Publicity Secretary, Jackson Adebayo, wondered why a party chieftain who had been expelled could be allowed to testify before the panel, maintaining that he no longer occupies the position of the PDP Secretary.

The party warned that “whatever is recorded by the military panel in the name of Aluko on the involvement of military in the Ekiti election will render the whole exercise illegal and a charade.”

Adebayo explained that the expelled secretary had only demonstrated the traits of anti-party activities that led to his expulsion, adding that there was nothing objective or reliable that could be taken from him in the case.

  • Police arrest Senator’s aides over attack at Ekiti tribunal

The Ekiti State Police Command has arrested two loyalists of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in connection with the recent violence which rocked the premises of the election petitions tribunal sitting at the State High Court complex in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

They are undergoing interrogation over their alleged complicity in the attack on some witnesses of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who were in court to give evidence in the petition filed by their party’s senatorial candidate in Ekiti Central, Gbenga Olofin.

Olofin is challenging the declaration of the PDP candidate, Senator Fatimat Rasaki, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as the winner of the election conducted in the five local government areas that make up the senatorial district.

It will be recalled that suspected thugs unleashed terror on the APC witnesses and members present at the tribunal hearing on June 30 shortly after Olofin closed his case.

Their action drew the ire of the three-man panel of judges led by Justice A.N. Erabor who summoned the senator to their chambers and reportedly warned her to caution her supporters against committing contempt of court.

The Nation gathered on Monday that two prominent supporters of Rasaki believed to be arrowheads of the attacks were arrested at different locations in Ado Ekiti on Friday to state all they know on their alleged involvement in the mayhem.

Those arrested are – Ibukun Ayodele, who is Rasaki’s campaign coordinator in Igede Ekiti and Mrs. Bosede Adeleke popularly known as Awodama, who is her anchorwoman in Ado Ekiti.

While Ayodele was arrested in his house along Nova Road in Ado Ekiti on Friday at about 6.00pm, Adeleke was also picked up at another location in the state capital at about 7.00am.

  • ‘Expect shocking revelations about Ekiti poll’

‘Expect shocking revelations about Ekiti poll’

There will be shocking revelations at the hearing of the petition instituted by Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) on the June 21 governorship election, Deputy Governor Modupe Adelabu said yesterday.

She said the election was skewed against her party by the powers that be.

Mrs Adelabu said Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola’s victory on Saturday proved that no amount of “federal might” could subvert the people’s will. She described it as a call for change.

The deputy governor and Governor Kayode Fayemi’s wife, Bisi, visited Aregbesola in Osogbo to congratulate him.

In a statement by her media aide, Bunmi Ogunmodede,  Mrs Adelabu urged Nigerians to effect positive change through the 2015 general polls.

She said: “We have come to rejoice with our brother, whose mandate for a fresh four-year term has been renewed. We are grateful to God for what he has done for us. We are happy for the governor. He deserves it and we know the people of Osun State will enjoy his second term. I believe he is going to perform better than he is doing in this first term, which expires in November.

“We are using his (Aregbesola’s) re-election as a point of contact for other states, so that in 2015, there will be a change at the centre. What we have seen in Osun State is a revelation of what happened in Ekiti State on June 21. We thank God that we made the sacrifice in Ekiti State.”
