    Sanwo-Olu hails Elegushi

    Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has congratulated the Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, on the occasion of his 5th coronation anniversary.

    A statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, said the reign of Oba Elegushi had brought peace, growth and development to the domain.

    “On behalf of my wife, Ibijoke, and family, the government, and the people of Lagos State, I congratulate the Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kusenla III, on his 15th coronation anniversary.

    “Oba Elegushi is a visionary and vibrant monarch, who has distinguished himself in community service as a committed, devoted, selfless and passionate leader and traditional ruler.

    “I want to applaud Oba Elegushi over his development policies in Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom. The people of the kingdom are lucky to have a dedicated, loving and caring monarch as their traditional ruler.

    “He deserves all the accolades for the impactful and purposeful life he has lived, especially in the last 15 years of his reign,” Sanwo-Olu said.

    The governor described the 21st Elegushi as an epitome of dedication and selflessness in community service, considering how he has transformed his kingdom within 15 years to become a destination of choice for real estate development and entertainment, leisure and hospitality.

    “Since ascending the throne of his forefathers 15 years ago, Oba Elegushi has displayed exemplary leadership in his domain.

    “I commend his passion and commitment to the growth and development of Ikate-Elegushi as the traditional ruler.

    “As Oba Elegushi celebrates his 15 years on the throne, I pray that God will continue to bestow on him good health, wisdom, knowledge and understanding for a continuous reign of peace and prosperity in Ikate-Elegushi. He will witness many more fruitful years on the throne of his forefathers.”

    Elegushi to empower 1,000 with ₦200m on 15th anniversary

    The Elegushi of Ikate, Lagos, Oba Saheed Elegushi, has commenced the first batch of the ₦200 million empowerment initiative to support education and economic growth within the community.

    The gesture is in celebration of 15 years of milestones and the impact of the monarch on the throne.

    The Elegushi Foundation is also launching a ₦50 million intervention fund for students and SMEs.

    As part of the anniversary, the monarch has already hosted several community-focused events, including a special Lawn Tennis Club tournament and a comprehensive medical outreach programme that provided free healthcare services to residents of the community.

    According to the Special Assistant Media & Publicity at Elegushi Palace, Mr Temitope Oyefeso, these initiatives reflect the foundation’s approach to community development through health, sports, education, and economic empowerment.

    Prince Oyekanmi Elegushi, the chief executive officer of Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA) has been appointed as an International Peace Advocate and Awards nominee at the United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC).

    UN-POLAC is an international institution with the mandate of enhancing the effectiveness of UN Millennium Development Goals now Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNESCO Culture of Peace project, particularly the maintenance of peace and security and the restoration of burn and dignity.

    His nomination comes after he was verified as individual of integrity whose multifaceted career reflects a deep commitment to leadership, innovation, and public service, particularly within Lagos State, Nigeria. 

    Elegushi is a versatile professional who has achieved significant success across law, politics, real estate, and fintech. 

    The Prince, over the years, has demonstrated a remarkable ability to excel in diverse industries, positioning himself as an influential figure in both the private and public sectors.

    As a lawyer, Elegushi’s expertise in property law has earned him a reputation as a respected authority within the legal community.

    His deep knowledge of property regulations has not only shaped his legal career but has also provided the foundation for his ventures into business and governance. 

    He is well-versed in navigating complex legal challenges and using his skills to craft solutions that have long-lasting impacts.

    In the political sphere, Elegushi has been an active participant, particularly within Lagos State’s administration. 

    His appointment in 2020 as Executive Secretary and Legal Adviser at the Lagos State Waterways Authority (LASWA) was a notable milestone in his career.

    In this role, he brought a combination of legal expertise and innovative solutions to improve the management of Lagos’ waterways, contributing to the state’s broader goals of infrastructure modernization and urban development.

    Elegushi’s entrepreneurial spirit has also led him to make significant strides in the real estate and fintech sectors. 

    Before joining the Lagos State government, he successfully ventured into these industries, gaining a well-rounded understanding of property development and financial technology. 

    His forward-thinking approach allowed him to introduce modern strategies that blended traditional business models with cutting-edge digital practices.

    His leadership at Ibile Holdings Limited, first as Executive Director and later as Acting Managing Director, showcased his ability to drive digital transformation and operational excellence. 

    During his tenure, Elegushi implemented tech-driven strategies that expanded the organization’s operations and increased its efficiency. 

    His leadership highlighted his capability to bridge the gap between traditional industries and the growing digital economy, positioning Ibile Holdings as a forward-thinking company.

    Currently, Prince Elegushi serves as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Lagos State Infrastructure Maintenance and Regulatory Agency (LASIMRA).

    In this critical role, he oversees the regulation and maintenance of utility infrastructure across Lagos State, with a focus on fostering technological advancements and innovation. 

    Under his leadership, LASIMRA has spearheaded smart city projects, including the expansion of 5G networks, smart poles, and the integration of loT (Internet of Things) technologies, all aimed at improving urban life and infrastructure.

    In line with the UN General Assembly declaration, UN-POLAC is commemorating the “2025 International Day of Living Together in Peace”, an annual event of the UN. 

    The day aims to uphold the desire to live and act together, united in differences and diversity in order to build a sustainable world of peace at Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday, May 16.

    As part of the event for the celebration, there will be appointment/presentation of certificates and awards as “International Peace Advocate” to individuals and volunteers of proven integrity who exhibit the ideals of living for the sake of others and committing themselves to promoting universal moral values, strong family life, social harmony, inter-religious and ethnic cooperation and the culture of peace.

    Elegushi donates tennis courts to Lagos varsity

    The traditional ruler of Ikate-Elegushi in Eti-Osa, Lagos State, Oba Dr. Saheed Ademola Elegushi has donated three tennis courts to the Lagos State University, Ojo.

    The donation of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) standard tennis courts was part of facilities used for the recently concluded Federal of African University Sports (FASU) games, co-hosted by LASU and University of Lagos, was in demonstration of the traditional ruler’s support of sports and education.

    Speaking when he inspected the facility on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of FASU games at LASU, Oba Elegushi stated: “Our intervention is to ensure we promote sports even at the university level. If we want the students to turn away from crime and criminality, we should provide the facilities they need to recreate and spend time outside their academic schedule.”

    Oba Elegushi promised to institute an annual tennis competition in the university, replicating a similar competition in his honour at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club.

    While thanking the traditional ruler for the gesture, the Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University, Prof Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, said Oba Elegushi continues to demonstrate his love for his alma mater, noting that the university is proud to have the traditional ruler as one of its alumni.

     “I want to thank our royal father, Oba Saheed Elegushi for this donation. As an alumnus, he is always coming through for the university, and this is another one and we are very grateful,” she added.

    • Group worries over Mobhad’s autopsy result

    The Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi, Kunsela III, has settled with the father of the late Lagos-based musician, Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad, Mr. Josiah Aloba, who made some allegations against the king.

    Elegushi’s lawyer, Adepeju Omotayo, in a statement emphasised that the traditional ruler is resolute in his stance on this issue.

    She urged those seeking justice to do so responsibly and within the law.

    Omotayo said: “Kabiyesi will not allow anyone, regardless of their status or position in society, to tarnish his good name and reputation for any gain.”

    Furthermore, Omotayo said Elegushi had never met or interacted with the late Aloba, his wife, or any member of his family.

    She expressed hope that the clarification would end the accusations involving the king.

    Elegushi reiterated his desire to uncover the circumstances leading to Mohbad’s death.

    This was made clear during a meeting with Mohbad’s father, Josiah, and his legal team at the Zone 2 Headquarters of the Nigeria Police in Onikan.

    Aloba had been invited for questioning on the allegations he made  against the monarch.

    Elegushi displayed magnanimity by ensuring that Aloba was not detained. His interest, he stated, was to see that justice was served.

    The trial of the two accused persons is scheduled to resume on July 5, at the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

    Meanwhile, the Justice for Mobhad Group in Nigeria and Diaspora has expressed displeasure over autopsy result of the late Mobhad.

    At a briefing yesterday at Ikorodu Town Hall, Lagos, where the singer had his last performance before he died, David Nowoola, hailed the late singer’s father and those fighting for justice for Mobhad.

    Nowoola expressed displeasure over the delay from the pathologist who said the cause of the death was not certain. 

    He commended the court for granting approval for other witnesses to come to share their testimonies regarding the death of the singer.

    “The autopsy is just one of the variables of fact finding, thankfully the court have approved for parties to the issue bring other witnesses.

    Elegushi Beach ‘not a member of fuel smuggling association’

    The management of Elegushi Private Beach has denied reports linking the beach to fuel smuggling, following arrests conducted by the Nigerian Navy.

    Last week, operatives of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) BEECROFT uncovered a 400,000-liter Automated Gas Oil (AGO) bunker at a private residence in Lekki, Lagos.

    The report alleged that the discovery was prompted by intelligence suggesting a gas tanker was observed loading at Elegushi Beach.

    However, during a tour yesterday, the management clarified that the arrests did not occur at or near Elegushi Private Beach, contrary to certain media assertions.

    The operation by the Nigerian Navy took place at a residence located at 3 Silverbird Road, Ilasan, Lekki, which is geographically distant from the beach area.

     Representatives from Elegushi Private Beach verified the specified location and confirmed its separation from the beach premises.

    Expressing deep concern over the potential damage caused by these inaccurate reports, the management emphasized the adverse impact on the reputation and operations of the establishment.

    In a statement, the management stressed the importance of accurate reporting, highlighting the necessity of promptly correcting misinformation to prevent further dissemination of inaccuracies.

     The management requested an immediate retraction of any mentions linking the beach to the aforementioned illegal activities and underscored their preparedness to take legal action to protect the beach’s reputation, if necessary.

    This media interaction serves to clarify Elegushi Private Beach’s stance on recent misinformation and underscores the imperative of accurate reporting in the media.

    His Royal Majesty, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi of Ikate-Elegushi Kingdom is nettled by spurious social media posts that seem hell-bent on tarnishing his image and bringing disrepute to the throne and the Elegushi palace.

    Recently, the palace expressed deep concern and condemnation of a campaign of calumny against the monarch and the throne.

    Despite ongoing investigations by the police into the death of Ilerioluwa Aloba, a.k.a Mohbad, some individuals have continued to spread baseless allegations linking the palace and Oba Saheed Elegushi to the tragic incident.

    What has left the monarch perturbed is the obvious fact that there was no known relationship between the palace, the monarch, and the late singer or his family.

    Temitope Oyefeso, Special Assistant, Public Affairs to HRM, hinted that legal action is being taken both in Nigeria and overseas and the law would take its course in addressing the cyber-attacks and bullying directed at the palace and traditional ruler.

    Elegushi pledges support for grassroots tennis

    Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikate Elegushi Kingdom in Lagos State has expressed his support for the growth and development of grassroots tennis in state.

    Speaking on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of 9th  Oba Elegushi Tennis Championships at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club in  Onikan,  Elegushi said  his love for the game of tennis at grassroots propelled his  sponsorship  the competition.

    The annual competition for members of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan is sponsored by  Elegushi.

    According to him, the sponsorships  is a reflection of his commitment to the sport’s development and the encouragement of participants to maintain their fitness levels.

    The tournament, which lasted for a week, featured over 30 male and female players who competed in teams for honours at the tournament.

    The grand finale took place at the Lord Rumens Centre Court and was witnessed by Oba Elegushi himself.

    As the tournament reaches a significant milestone in 2024, Elegushi pledged to raise the standards even further in the 10th  edition.

    This, he said, would be by transforming it into an international affair with the participation of more foreign players.

    “I’m a lover of tennis and Lagos Lawn Tennis Club is a pride of Lagos,” the monarch said.“My Love for tennis spurred me to search for good talents who we can sponsor the championship every year and this tournament is one for every member of Lagos Lawn Tennis Club to take part in.

     “This is the 9th  edition and is better than previous editions. I know by the 10th year,  it will be much better. We will keep improving every year.”

    The Oba Elegushi Tennis Tournament was concluded with the top teams rewarded with prizes at the 9th  edition.

    Participating teams were divided into team A to D and in the finals game, Team D defeated Team B in a keenly contested match-up that went  down to the wire.

    The champions claimed the top prize at the 2023 edition, after winning two singles and one doubles matches.

    The well-attended event also had politicians, government functionaries, business moguls, community leaders and executives of the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club as well as members present at the finals.

    The tennis tournament, which is one of the events on the calendar of the premier club, was not only competitive but also promotes healthy rivalry among members.

    At the closing ceremony, the champions and losing finalists were presented with trophies, while all players received medals for their participation at this year’s competition.

    Popular Nollywood actress, Rita Dominic-Anosike and her husband, Fidelis Anosike had the honour to host the Elegushi of Ikateland, Oba Saheed Elegushi on Christmas day.

    The actress posted photos from the visit on her Instagram account on Monday night.

    Although Rita Dominic did not detail the purpose of the visit, she, however, said the Oba visited for some “Christmas cheer.”

    Prominent Lagos monarch, Elegushi of Ikate Kingdom, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegushi has called on Muslims to pray for the country, as the nation tries to surmount the developmental challenges confronting it.

    In a statement by his Special Assistant, Public Affairs Tope Oyefeso, the monarch noted that as the government of the day is making efforts to make life better for the citizens, Islamic faithful should use the this Fasting period to pray for God’s intervention in the affairs of the nation.

    ”Ramadan is a pious month and we are all aware of the blessings associated with this period, it is therefore my request that as we observe this critical injunction of Allah, we should remember Nigeria, our country in prayers and commit her affairs and well-being into the hands of the Almighty,” he said.

    Oba Elegushi enjoined Muslim faithful to improve on their good deeds during the period, as commanded by God and also be their brothers’ keeper by showing kindness to the underprivileged.
