    …as POWA graduates 110 from skills acquisition centre

    The president of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, has underscored the importance of goodwill, unity, and national growth during the recent POWA Annual Convention held at the National Secretariat, Mambila Barracks, Abuja.

    The three-day event, which ran from December 5 to 7, served as a platform to empower women and children from police families through skills acquisition and training.

    Mrs. Egbetokun reaffirmed POWA’s commitment to supporting the wives of police officers and the wider community, highlighting the success of the association’s 60th anniversary, where 110 participants graduated from the POWA Skills Acquisition Center in Dei-Dei, Abuja.

    In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, POWA pledged to continue promoting the welfare of police families through education, skill development, and mutual support.

    “POWA remains dedicated to its mission of advocating for police families and empowering women. We invite all community members to join our programs aimed at fostering growth and prosperity for all through goodwill and unity,” the statement read.

    National President of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and Wife of the Inspector-General of Police, Elizabeth Egbetokun has urged parents to give their children quality education. 

    Egbetokun’s wife gave the advice while hosting children in Abuja to mark this year’s children’s day.

    She also pleaded with the children to take their education serious. 

    The IGP’s wife said: “Today was we gather to celebrate the essence of childhood in this auspicious children day, officially celebrated on the 27 of may every year. 

    “I stand before you with a heart filled with humility as the national president of the police the police officers wives association POWA

    “Children day is not just another date on the calendar, it’s a celebration of innocent, wonder and the limitless potential that reside within each and every child.

    “It’s a day to reflect on the importance of nurturing and protecting our Future leaders, innovators and change makers.

    “As parents it’s our responsibility to create an environment where children can thrive, learn and dream without fear or limitation.

    “We must ensure that every child has access to quality education, health care and most importantly love

    and support.

    “Today I want to take a moment to HONOUR the resilience and courage of children around the world, especially Those who are facing adversity, including Those who are separated from their families, those living in conflict zones and those battling illness or poverty.

    “Your laughter, curiosity and boundless energy reminds us of the beauty and purity that exist in the world. as we celebrate children’s day, let’s recommit ourselves to championing the right of every child to providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to fulfill their potentials and to creating a world where every child can grow in safety, dignity and love.

    “Finally, to our lovely children, just as the first lady and the mother of our dear nation sen Oluremi Tinubu said and I quote stay in school, finish school because we’re a developing country. when you stay and finish your education, you will have more options”.
