    Elizade varsity names VC

    Authorities of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin , Ondo State, have approved the appointment of Prof. Valentine Ayobore Aletor as the pioneer Vice-Chancellor.

    A statement signed by the Registrar of the university, Omololu Adegbenro, noted that the appointment takes effect from December 1.

    The Professor of Agricultural Biochemistry and Nutrition since 1995 is a product of the University of Ibadan (UI).

    Until his appointment, Aletor was the Director, Centre for Research and Development (CERAD) and the Lead Researcher, Centre of Excellence in Food Security at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA).

    The don has been on the National Universities Commission (NUC) Accreditation Panel since 1989 and was among the team that conducted the maiden institutional accreditation exercise of the Elizade University in 2011.

    Aletor led a team of researchers at FUTA to win the maiden NUC Research Grants award in Agriculture and another multi-disciplinary team of researchers that won $7m grants from the World Bank to assist FUTA emerge as the Centre of Excellence in food security.

    He facilitated another $60,000 grant to train 13 M.Tech. and Ph.D students under the World Bank Innovators of Tomorrow(IOT) scheme.

    Prof. Aletor is married to Dr Oluwatoyin Aletor, a Senior Lecturer in Food Chemistry, FUTA, and they are blessed with three children.

     

  • Elizade Varsity offers scholarships

    The Founder of Elizade University, Ilara-Mokin, Chief Michael Ade.Ojo has announced a scholarship of N100,000.00 for each of the 250 pioneer students of the institution.

    According to a release signed by the Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Omololu Adegbenro, the scholarship is to assist the students.

    Meanwhile, the university has concluded arrangement to introduce internship and work-study programme for its students so as to give them practical experience in their chosen disciplines.

    Adegbenro added that the students would be attached to reputable industries for holiday jobs during long vacations to expose them to the work-place even before graduation.

    He said the university will also give priority to mentorship as a way of grooming them for future leadership roles.

    The Institution’s post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) holds on Friday 26 and Saturday 27, on its campus, while the resumption date for the pioneer students is Sunday January 6, 2013.
