I still love my wife, says Emeka Ike

•’I’m no longer interested in him’

Ace Actor Emeka Ike yesterday prayed the Lagos Island Customary Court not to dissolved his marriage, saying he still loves his wife, Emma.

Emma had gone to court, seeking dissolution of their 12-year-old marriage.

Emeka, represented by his counsel, Abdul’Hakeem Labi-Lawal, said his client has not appeared in court because he is ill.

“My client is ill but I will try my best possible he comes on the next adjourned date. We indulge the court to give us six months from this day to see if there is possibility of settlement between the couple,” he said.

But Mrs Ike said six months was too long adding that the respondent had two years to reconcile with her but he didn’t.

She said: “The last time I wanted to speak with our children, it was my mother-in-law who

picked the call and asked if I had read Exodus 21 which says that if I go, I shouldn’t return.”

The court’s President, Chief Awos Awosola, said the court could only grant two weeks.

He said: “I am expecting Emeka Ike in this court if he really wants settlement.”

Awosola adjourned the matter till August 12 for further hearing.

After the court rose, Mrs Ike told The Nation that she wasn’t ready to return to her husband. “Over two years since I left the house, he never taught of reconciliation. He had every opportunity to ask me to return but he didn’t. So why now?”she asked.

Mrs Ike said her husband took her last two children from her when she was going for her mother’s burial in February.

“He promised to bring them to me immediately I returned from my mother’s burial but he didn’t. Even when he didn’t allow me access to see our children, I spoke with them on several occasions but now, he doesn’t allow me anymore. My children are now against me, she said.

Mrs Ike said she left her matrimonial home because she could no longer bear being tortured anymore.

“If I was still with him, I may not survive. I was 19-year old when I met him and he was the one who deflowered me. I see no reason I shouldn’t be treated with utmost respect.

“Due to physical torture, my health has been affected. There was even a time I thought I had breast cancer because I felt a lump on one part of my breast.” Mrs Ike said.

She said things became worse last Sunday when she called her husband to speak with their children.

In tears, Mrs Ike said:”I almost went mad when my first son told me on phone that if I truly loved them, I wouldn’t have abandoned them. Even my seven-year-old son whose day wouldn’t be complete without seeing me said he doesn’t love me. I love my children. I miss my children. I never abandoned them. I am in pain. They don’t have any other mother. I really need my children. I am a good woman; I endured so many things as his wife.”

The union produced four children between ages 4 and 13.

I have no issues with Emeka Ike- Ibinabo Fiberesima

Ibinabo Fiberesima, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), issued an official statement clarifying all court rulings and controversies surrounding her seat as AGN President as well as her relationship with Emeka Ike. The statement which was signed by Media Coordinator, Ekine Stronghold disclosed that Mrs Fibresima has no issues with actor, Emeka Ike and she will continue to address the welfare of Nigerian actors and actresses which he was elected into power to do. Read the full statement below:

The President of Actors’ Guild of Nigeria, Ibinabo Fiberesima Egbuka wishes to express her heartfelt appreciation to her members, Nollywood practitioners and teeming fans.

The love and support you have shown towards her is overwhelming. The moment the news of the court ruling filtered in on the 16th of March 2015, our office have received a barrage of phone calls, emails and text messages from so many people expressing their concern, support and love.

Some made us laugh, some made us cry. A particular individual sent a picture which is attached and said “I don’t know you but may this love in your heart never leave your industry. Love conquers hate. Love is what your industry needs and you carry it so hate will look for every reason to fight you whether genuine or not”. That, made me cry.

Sadly, that fellow’s prophecy has also come true as a few people that don’t mean well for the industry have used the opportunity to ferment trouble and open old wounds. This is not right. Hence, It is important to make certain clarifications on the matters on ground.

    1.       The news of the court ruling annulling the November 2012 elections is true and as law abiding citizens, we will not do anything outside our constitutional right.

    2.       We have expressed our right and have appealed the case.

    3.       The Judgment did not make Emeka Ike the president of the Actors’ guild of Nigeria.

    4.       The court judgment points to the direction that the election that brought me in was illegal.

    5.       The case in question is between actor Emeka Ike , the board of trustees and the Segun Arinze lead government of National unity. It is not between I and Emeka Ike as some blogs have wrongly reported. I have no issues with Emeka Ike.

    6.        The Board of trustees has done well to uphold our constitution’s provision that there cannot be a lacuna in government, hence Ibinabo Fiberesima Egbuka remains the President of Actors Guild of Nigeria.

    7.       Ibinabo Fiberesima Egbuka remains committed to the well-being of the acting community of Nigeria. That is what she was elected to do. That, she we will continue to do. AGN….. The show must go on.

    Signed:

Actors Guild crisis: Court sacks Ibinabo-led executive

The Federal High Court in Lagos Monday sacked the Ibinabo Fiberisima-led executive of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).

Justice John Tsoho declared their election null and void because it was conducted against a clear order of court that parties should maintain status quo.

Justice Tsoho ruled that the Incorporated Trustees of AGN acted with utter impunity in disobeying the court’s order.

“It is not in doubt that the parties in this suit are entertainers but the business of court is a serious one and it cannot be turned into a legal play and for this reason, the election is hereby declared null and void,” the judge held.

Justice Tsoho further ordered Ibinabo to henceforth stop parading herself as the AGN president.

Besides, Justice Tsoho ordered Ibinabo and all the national officers of her executive to render full accounts of monies generated by the AGN under her, including details of income and expenditure.

The judge specifically ordered that a comprehensive audit of AGN’s accounts be conducted within 90 days.

An actor, St. Maradona Mikevine, who was the National Treasurer in the election that produced another actor, Emeka Ike as AGN President, had filed the suit to contest Ibinabo’s election.

Mikevine, through his lawyer, Malcom Omirhobo, had contended that the election that brought Ibinabo into office was conducted in the face of a subsisting court order stopping it.

He urged the court to determine whether it was proper for an election to be conducted in the face of a substantive order, and whether anyone could parade themselves as AGN executive based on an election conducted against a court order.

The judge on October 26, 2011, ordered that status quo be maintained.

In an earlier suit, Emeka Ike had challenged the formation of an illegal government known as “National Unity”, to run AGN’s affairs.

The actor had sought an order of court reviewing the guild’s 2007 Constitution as it relates to the tenure of members of board of trustees.

He averred that the board, comprising: Mr Segun Arinze, Prince Ifeanyi Dike, Mr Emmanuel Oguguah, Mr Murphy Stephen, Mr Sunny McDon and Mr Okey McAnthony, had remained in office since July 13, 1999 when the guild was incorporated.

He had therefore, sought for an order setting aside the appointment of Arinze as President of the guild, as well as an order reviewing the provisions of the guild’s constitution.

Arinze, who was appointed as President of the National Unity of AGN, handed over to Ibinabo after the conduct of the disputed election.

Lawyers’ absence stalls Emeka Ike’s suit against AGN

The suit filed by Nollywood actor Emeka Ike before a Federal High Court in Lagos against the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) could not be heard yesterday following the absence of lawyers.

Justice J. T. Tsoho ordered the service of hearing notices on parties in the suit and adjourned the hearing till June 26.

The actor had dragged the guild to court on July 25, last year over a leadership tussle.

Through his counsel, Malcom Omirhobo, he sought an order nullifying an alleged National Unity government established by the defendants to run the affairs of the AGN.

He also sought an order of court for the review of the AGN’s 2007 Constitution in relation to the tenure of members of board of trustees.

Ike alleged that the guild’s board members-Segun Arinze, Prince Ifeanyi Dike, Emmanuel Oguguah, Murphy Stephen, Sunny McDon and Okey McAnthony- have remained in office since July 13, 1999 when the guild was incorporated.

He also sought for an order setting aside the appointment of Segun Arinze as President of the guild.

At the last adjournment, Justice Tsoho granted an interim order for status quo to be maintained while the matter was adjourned for hearing of the substantive suit.

Meanwhile, Ibinabo Fiberesima, has since succeeded Arinze as the incumbent National President of AGN. Fiberesima was sworn in as the first female president of the guild in September 2012, amidst claims by a fellow aspirant, Emeka Rollas, that he won the election.

Emeka Ike’s fans worried about actor’s loss of school site

The premises of a popular Lagos school, St. Nicholas College, Magodo, owned by Nollywood actor, Emeka Ike, was last Friday sealed off, following a court order.

Touted as one of the few Nigerian movie stars with enviable business acumen, the actor, according to reports has been fighting with his landlord for the last five years, leading to a court injunction to seal off the property.

The news came to many fans, who had believed the actor owned the property, as a shock.

More fans expressed concerns for the pupils, imagining what their fate would be. They wished the court had stayed execution until the end of the academic year.

Reacting to the issue, the actor insisted his school ‘was not shut’, because only Lagos State government has the power to close a school.

Ike, who spoke with Encomium Weekly through his publicist, Mr. Great Imo, admitted he had a case with the owners of the property, but informed that he has moved the school to a permanent site.

He said the Magodo property was not the only place St. Nicholas College can operate from, “so, we are moving to another site.”

Imo said the allegation of mismanaging the school was false, and should be seen as a rumour from the camp of ‘wicked harbingers’, adding that St. Nicholas College was one of the best run schools in Nigeria.
