Dennis sees red in Blackburn, Norwich City draw

It wasn’t a pleasant Blackburn home debut in the EFL Championship for Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Dennis, as he was sent off against Norwich City, Soccernet.ng reports.

The 27-year-old versatile attacker joined Rovers on a six-month loan from Nottingham Forest, after failing to feature for the Reds in over a year.

Since moving to Ewood Park, he’s been largely a fringe player, as he continues his journey of a return to full fitness. However, his home debut lasted less than thirty minutes as he was given his marching orders in front of the home fans.

Chances were few and far between for both sides on a warm afternoon in Blackburn, and Valerien Ismael, who recently took over the coaching reins with Rovers, sent Dennis on, hoping the Nigerian would create something dangerous in attack. That he did, but for all the wrong reasons.

Dennis vows to thrill Blackburn fans

Nigeria International striker  Emmanuel Dennis  has promised  to thrill  fans of English Championship side, Blackburn Rovers  after completing a loan switch until the

end of the season from Nottingham Forest.

The 27-year-old striker became Rovers’ final signing of the transfer deadline day after they  saw off the likes of Watford and Toulouse who were chasing Dennis as the day began.

Forest has been trying to sell the Nigeria international since 2023, only a year after he  joined the club under then-manager, Steve Cooper. He has been on loan at Istanbul

Basaksehir where he failed to score in eight appearances and Watford where he bagged four goals in 18 appearances in the Championship last season.

“Rovers are in a very good position and the team plays good football, so I hope I can add a  bit of something to the team for us to have a good time together,”  Dennis told the  club’s website, revealing how he wants to turn his career around at his new side  and start to find the back of the net for the East Lancashire side.

He continued: “Goals are no problem, but I also like having fun, showing tricks, nutmegs and exciting the  fans, because that’s what they come to the stadium to see. They come for fun, some happy moments and victories.

“People come from home to sit in the cold and watch us play, so you have to give them  something.

“I’m a happy guy, I’m always happy and it’s a good feeling when I’m scoring goals. I’m  excited to go out there in front of the fans and they’re going to have a good time with me!

“I’m really happy, really excited and I can’t wait to meet all the lads and to start playing with  the team,” added Dennis, who has also played in Ukraine, Belgium, Germany and Turkey in his much-traveled career.”

“I like lots about playing in England. I like the banter, I like the atmosphere and the fans. I’m  used to playing in England now and I like everything about the people, who are so funny and respectful, but I don’t like the weather!

“I’m very, very hungry to play football and I hope we’ll have some great moments together. I’m really happy and I’m ready to give my all for the club, because I really appreciate being brought here.”

  • Champions League: Dennis, Okereke set for PSG challenge

It will be a handful for the duo of Emmanuel Dennis and Chidozie Okereke as Club Brugge host PSG in the Champions league on Tuesday.

Dennis who was part of the Super Eagles squad that played friendly matches against Ukraine and Brazil respectively was on fire against Real Madrid in the Champions league early this month and will be hoping to replicate his killer form at the an Breydelstadion.

Dennis grabbed a brace against Madrid in the tie that ended 2-2. Brugge are heading into Tuesday match on the heels of back to back victories in the Belgian league.

Their 4-0 defeat of Gent was followed by another lone goal away victory over Royal Excel Mouscron. The two victories will no doubt serve as a ginger for the Brugge side but it nonetheless will not be a tea party against visiting PSG who have recorded four victories in a roll going into Tuesday’s clash.

The French side have scored 10 goals in four matches including a lone goal against Galatasaray in their last Champions League outing.

700 goal scorer Cristiano Ronaldo will be on duty for Juventus Tuesday

PSG are however likely to be without Brazil international Neymar who sustained injury during the international friendly against Nigeria in Singapore.

Reports indicate that fans will have to wait for at least a month to see Neymar who has scored four goals in five league matches this season bounce back to action even as news over his possible transfer continues.

In some other fixtures lined up for Tuesday, Galatasaray host Real Madrid, Olympiakos Piraeus tackles Bayern Muchen while Juventus who will be parading Cristiano Ronaldo who only recently recorded his 700th goal will slug it out with Lokomotive Moscow.
