Employee ‘kills’ Chinese boss for insulting his mother

An employee Amos Okechukwu has been arrested by the police for allegedly killing his Chinese boss, Alice Xu.

Okechukwu, a casual worker at the victim’s firm, allegedly committed the offence around 8pm on Friday at Tayo Close, Akinola Cole Estate, Adeniyi Jones, Ikeja.

It was gathered that the suspect sneaked into the deceased residence and suffocated her with a pillow for “ridiculing my mother.”

Having suffocated the victim, Okechukwu was said to have ransacked her residence, carted away about N800,000 and $2,000 cash he found.

He was said to have disguised as a mad person to avoid raising suspicions at the estate gate manned by policemen and private guards, but was identified by one of the guards who notified the police.

It was gathered that the suspect was instantly arrested and the deceased’s residence contacted without response.

The Nation gathered that guards were sent to the premises and it was discovered that the woman had died, promoting the transfer of the suspect to Man Centre Police Division.

A source said the suspect claimed he wanted to teach the woman a lesson for the frequent verbal assaults he received from her.

The source said: “He alleged that the woman had been very insulting and disrespectful and that he felt humiliated. He said the woman even insulted his mother.

“He entered her apartment when she had slept and tied her up. He covered her mouth and nose. The woman died because she could not breathe properly. He said he only wanted to punish her and did not mean to kill her. N800,000 and $2,000 belonging to the woman were recovered from him.”

According to a worker in the estate, the house has been shut since Friday.

He said: “It was when I came to work the following day that I learnt about the incident. I was shocked. The woman was young and usually jogged around the estate. I think it was greediness that made him kill her.”

  • Police arrest man for ‘dehumanising’ employee

Police arrest man for ‘dehumanising’ employee

Operatives of the Metro Police and Lagos State Rapid Response Squad (RRS) have arrested an engineer, Wole Odunuga, who allegedly tied his employee and locked him inside Hilux Van marked SMK 707 CA enroute Abuja.

The suspect was arrested Wednesday night around 7-Up by the Alausa Tollgate, after policemen chased him from Ketu/Ojota Flyover for refusing to stop.

Odunuga was said to be a lone traveler, whose refusal to obey the policemen, propelled them to check his vehicle when it was forcefully stopped.

According to the police, the officers were shocked to see the victim, Daniel Dabis, at the trunk of the white Hilux, with his legs and hands tied to his back.

Upon interrogation, the suspect was said to have claimed that Dabis stole his money at Abuja and absconded to Lagos, adding that he was taking him back to Abuja to answer for his offence.

He said: “I have been searching for him all over the place, which took me to his village in Plateau State. It was one of his friends that told me he was in Lagos, where he was hiding. Precisely, I was hinted he was staying at Mile 12 Market, Ketu.

“I drove down from Abuja and I met him at Mile 12 Market, Ketu, where I picked him up. Initially, I had taken him down to Ketu Divisional Police Station, Lagos, to incident the matter, but the officers at the station declined to detain him there. “So, I had no option than to take him back to Abuja. That was what I was trying to do before I was accosted by the police team on routine patrol under the Ketu/Ojota flyover.”

However, Dabis who denied stealing the suspect’s money said he only took his ladder and barrow.

He said: “What I took from him were a ladder and a wheel barrow. He is estimating the cost of the wheel barrow at N110, 000 and the ladder, N90, 000, that is all I took from him. Because of that he tied my legs and hands to my back.

“His plan was to drive me to Abuja in that manner if not for these officers; he would have killed me and dumped my body at the road side.”

  • Family of abducted ex-Mobil employee petitions IGP

For more than two months after her abduction, the whereabouts of Ms. Eunice Udo have remained a mystery, causing anxiety that she may have been killed.

Ms. Udoh, a former contract employee with Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (MPN), hails from Atibe community, Afaha Eket in Eket Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The victim, 34, according to the family, was allegedly seized and taken to an unknown destination on February 4 by a business associate.

The suspect, who has since been arrested, it was gathered, is undergoing interrogation at the Zone 6 Headquarters in Calabar, Cross River State, where the case had been transferred.

Worried by the slow pace of the investigation, the family has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Solomon Arase.

The two-paragraph petition entitled: “Re-Case of Abduction of Eunice Eno Udo”, stated that the suspect abducted her in the process of transacting a business.

The elder brother to the victim, Akpan Udo, said her sister may have been killed. He urged the IGP to use his good offices to unravel the mystery surrounding the disappearance of the woman, whom he said “was our bread winner”.

He recalled that when her sister was dropped as a contract staff of Mobil, she took some of her vehicles, including a bus to the car stands in Uyo, for sale, but ran into the suspect, who offered to buy the vehicle.

The suspect, who hails from Omuogba in Onyigbo Local Government Area of River State, was said to have been connected to the business by another suspect who is still at large.

According to Udo, the suspect was taken to Ikot Ekpene Road to see the vehicle before the transaction.

The sister was said to have driven to the place with her car from her residence at Nnung Obio Enang on IdoroRoad, Uyo, for negotiation.

“After the agreement to sell the bus had been reached by both parties, my sister parked her car at the stand and was driven in the bus by the suspect to pick the vehicle documents in her house. After fetching the particulars, the suspect drove my sister with the bus to an unknown destination,” he said.

The following day, the suspect, according to him, disguised in Navy kits, went to the stand, picked his sister’s car and drove to the house, where he ransacked and carted away other vital documents of lands and vehicles.

The Hausa man at the gate to the victim’s house, it was gathered, had revealed that the suspect  made phone call in Hausa language to alert some people that he was bringing the person.

“When he (the suspect) made the conversation on phone to intimate his accomplice that he was bringing somebody to them, he did not know the gateman was a Hausa man, who also understood the language. This revelation forced us to report the matter at Itam Police Station.

“The case was later moved to the State Headquarters before we made effort for the matter to be transferred to Zone 6, Calabar, because of shoddy handling of the case”, Mr. Udo explained.

Her father, Chief EnoUdo Unanaowo, lamented that her daughter was the major bread winner in the family and urged the Police to expedite action in the matter.

“Her seven-year-old daughter has been in tears since her mother was abducted,” he said, adding that only her rescue would safe the child from the trauma.”

Part of the petition reads: “Due to the shoddy investigation process at the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, IkotAkpanabia, Uyo, we wrote a petition for the case to be transferred to Zone 6, Calabar, for proper investigation and prosecution of the culprit.

“We therefore appeal to you sir, to use your good offices and prevail on the AIG Zone 6, to carry out a thorough investigation that can lead to discovering the whereabouts Ms Eunice Udo, as the whole family is in turmoil since her abduction. We sincerely believe that with your zero tolerance for criminals of this kind, justice will surely prevail.”

Sacked but pardoned employee injures boss in robbery attack

A bakery owner has been critically injured while trying to stop his employee from carrying out a robbery attack on his home.

Sunday Olufemi a.k.a. Omoga allegedly attacked his boss, Abel Kayode Ogunsakin, at the latter’s residence in Shagamu, Ogun State at about 11.30 pm on June 30, 2015.

It was alleged that on the day in question, Ogunsakin sighted Olufemi sneaking into his residence at No 5, Okedeji Street, Shagamu.

Bystanders, who were attracted to the scene by the alarm Ogunsakin raised, were said to have taken him to a nearby private hospital for treatment when they noticed that he had lost a lot of blood.

It was gathered that Olufemi had worked in Ogunsakin’s bakery for three years before he was sacked for misconduct and later reinstated.

Our correspondent learnt that Olufemi allegedly continued to engage in stealing money from his colleagues and boss shortly after he was reinstated.

An impeccable source who asked not to be named told our correspondent that “Ogunsakin, who owns Timmy Bakery Ltd, had sacked Olufemi not long ago for engaging in unwholesome acts but reinstated him after some people had pleaded on his behalf.

Ogunsakin was said to have taken him back when he explained that he had no money to feed his family because he was jobless.

“Olufemi however continued to engage in all kinds of misconduct, including stealing from his boss and colleagues at work. He narrowly escaped being arrested in April last year when he was caught by his boss inside one of his rooms but he lied that he was taking refuge there to avoid being caught by some assailants who were pursuing him.”

“Ogunsakin did not know that Olufemi had entered the building through the ceiling and was hiding in the corridor of the house. It was while Ogunsakin was trying to know where Olufemi was hiding that he landed several blows on his face, leading to the loss of his tooth and the blood that covered his face.”

It was learnt that the incident was first reported to the men of the MTD Station at Sagamu before it was transferred to a police division opposite Awolowo Market, also in Sagamu.

Our correspondent contacted the spokesman of Ogun State Police Command, Mr Muyiwa Adejobi for comments, but he had not responded at press time.
