Niger Delta games critical for youth development, says Enabulele

Executive Chairman of Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has described the Niger Delta Games as a critical platform for grassroots sports development, youth empowerment, and regional integration.

Enabulele spoke when he played host to the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Chiedu Ebie.

Ebie was in the state to review the level of preparedness, strengthen collaboration, and reaffirmed commitment of all stakeholders toward delivering a successful and impactful festival.

Enabulele said the games were more than a competition and a deliberate investment in the future of Nigeria’s youth.

He said the discovery of talents could serve the region and the nation for many years.

The ESSC boss thanked the NDDC for sustaining the vision of using sports as a tool for unity, peace, and development in the Niger Delta.

Enabulele noted that the consistency of the Commission in supporting the festival reflected a deep understanding of sports as a catalyst for social and economic growth.

He said Edo State was ready to host the festival, even as he assured that all necessary facilities, logistics, and institutional support were being put in place to ensure a hitch-free event.

“This initiative has continued to give hope and opportunity to young athletes across the region, particularly at the grassroots level.

“Edo State is fully prepared to host the Niger Delta Sports Festival. Our facilities are ready, our technical teams are on the ground, and we are working closely with the NDDC and the organisers to ensure that this edition sets a new benchmark in organisation, athlete welfare, and competitive excellence.

“Our priority is talent discovery and development. By focusing on young athletes, we are deliberately building a pipeline that will feed state, national, and even international sports platforms in the future,” Enabulele noted.

The NDDC Chairman commended Edo State for its proactive role and continued leadership in sports development, expressing confidence that the second edition of the festival would surpass expectations.

Enabulele warns against U.S. military intervention in Nigeria

Dr. Bright Enabulele, a globally recognised Nigerian economic and policy analyst, has publicly broken his silence regarding controversial statements made by United States (US) President, Donald Trump concerning violence and attacks on Christian communities in Nigeria.

Addressing journalists in Abuja, Enabulele, in a sharply worded response, firmly rejected the notion of foreign military intervention, arguing that the nation requires sustainable “solutions, not war.”

The policy expert’s statement comes amid renewed debate over Nigeria’s internal security challenges and the appropriate role of the international community.

Enabulele warned that any proposed military incursion by the US would have devastating long-term consequences far beyond the immediate security situation.

“What Nigeria needs is a solution, not war,” Enabulele stated forcefully. He stressed that while security is paramount, the path to peace must be internal and diplomatic. “A military invasion, irrespective of how well-intentioned, would only serve to set the country back decades, risking regional destabilization and catastrophic humanitarian fallout.”

Enabulele also focused heavily on the geopolitical implications for the United States, suggesting that intervention would establish a negative global standard. He concluded that authorizing such a move would “set a wrong and dangerous precedent for America’s engagement with sovereign nations across the world.”

Highlighting the country’s stature, Enabulele reminded the global community of Nigeria’s economic significance. Nigeria is often cited as the seventh largest economy in the world, and any conflict would disrupt international markets and supply chains. He urged global leaders to shift focus from military options to empowering local governance, supporting economic development, and implementing targeted policy reforms to address the root causes of internal conflict.

He concluded his remarks by calling for a unified, non-military strategy: “Our priority must be collaborative problem-solving, not the escalation of conflict through foreign boots on the ground. We must address the political and economic drivers of this crisis together.”

Enabulele maintained that a balanced partnership is what the US should offer. “Nigeria seeks not foreign intervention, but a balanced partnership—one that enhances our capacity to defeat terrorism from within, preserves our sovereignty, and stabilises the wider Sahel.”

“Our collective immediate objective should be to strengthen Nigeria–US relations through a mutually beneficial strategic partnership that prioritizes joint intelligence, technology transfer, and capacity-building—while avoiding direct US military intervention that could undermine sovereignty or local legitimacy,” he added.

Iyere’s withdrawal from Edo guber race boosts Enabulele’s candidacy

In what appeared to be a surprising turn of events, Kennedy Iyere announced his withdrawal from the Edo State governorship race.

Iyere, who was vying for the governorship position in Edo State under Accord Party, stated that he would be focusing on unpolitical programmes, giving boost to Dr. Bright Enabulele’s candidacy.

In a statement in which he made this disclosure, Iyere stated that he made the decision to focus on other things.

“I urge the citizens to vote with their conscience and prioritise candidates who genuinely care about the welfare of our communities,” he was quoted as saying.

Insiders in the Accord Party, in their reaction to this development, expressed the belief that Enabulele remains a strong contender in the election and that yere’s withdrawal may streamline support for Enabulele, potentially consolidating votes around the strongest candidate who shares the party’s vision for progressive governance.

“Iyere’s exit from the race highlights the need for collaboration among candidates who prioritise the people’s needs,” one insider remarked. “I strongly believe that this exit was made in the best interests of our party, and could galvanise support and drive support for Enabulele.”

Political analysts, in their reactions, stated that as Enabulele concluded his campaign, his candidacy is expected to leverage the momentum created by Iyere’s withdrawal.

Amongst other things, they noted that even though Enabulele had stopped campaigning in compliance with the regulation of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), eligible voters in Edo would see a candidate committed to addressing pressing issues in the state, such as healthcare, education, and infrastructure, in Enabulele.

  • PoS operation worse than clampdown on crypto, says Enabulele

PoS operation worse than clampdown on crypto, says Enabulele

Dr. Bright Enabulele, the creator of Oduwacoin, Africa’s first indigenous cryptocurrency, has stated that Nigeria’s clampdown on digital asset users is worse when compared to allowing unregulated Point of Sale (PoS) operations on the street.

In recent weeks, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been tightening its grip on cryptocurrency transactions.

This includes restrictions placed on banks processing transactions involving crypto exchanges, blacklisting of bank accounts that have received or sent crypto-related payments, and warnings issued to Nigerians about the risks associated with digital currencies.

Describing the clampdown on cryptocurrency users in Nigeria as counterproductive, Enabulele, a fervent advocate for the potential of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies in Africa, reacted to the central bank’s moves, arguing  that the government’s approach stifles innovation and overlooks the significant contributions cryptocurrencies can make.

According to him, the clampdown is detrimental to the Nigerian economy.

“These clampdowns create an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty,” Enabulele remarked while addressing journalists in Oduwa Blockchain Solutions’ Lagos office during his visit to Nigeria.

“They send a message that this country is closed for business, especially to the vibrant tech startups and young entrepreneurs who see blockchain technology as a key driver of financial inclusion and economic empowerment.”

Enabulele pointed out the potential benefits of cryptocurrencies like Oduwacoin, highlighting their ability to facilitate faster and cheaper money transfers.

“Crypto transactions can bypass traditional banking systems, offering Nigerians a quicker and more affordable way to send and receive funds, both domestically and internationally. This can be particularly advantageous for individuals living in remote areas or those who rely on remittances from abroad,” he explained.

Also revealing that with crypto, Nigerians, and every other person could hedge themselves against inflation, the Oduwacoin Creator maintained that digital currency is the solution to the hyper-inflation people face.

“In a country with a history of fluctuating currency value, cryptocurrencies like Oduwacoin offer a potential hedge against inflation. Their decentralised nature and limited supply can make them a store of value, especially when compared to naira and other fiat currencies susceptible to devaluation,” he stated.

Enabulele, therefore, urged the Nigerian government to adopt a more progressive approach to cryptocurrency regulation.

He advocated for open dialogue between financial technology (fintech) players, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore ways to create a regulatory framework that fosters innovation while mitigating potential risks associated with digital assets, such as money laundering and market volatility.

“We need a regulatory environment that embraces the transformative potential of blockchain technology,” Enabulele emphasised. “Countries like Singapore and Dubai are leading the way in creating innovation hubs for crypto and blockchain businesses. Nigeria has the potential to do the same, but we need the right policies in place to attract investments and talent.”

Maintaining that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration shouldn’t overlook cryptocurrencies and blockchain adoptions, Enabulele stated that with the right KYCs in place, both would contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economy through taxation, and other sources.

“If we continue to chase the people to hide, the government will never benefit from them. Cryptocurrency is a technology that cannot be hidden. In fact, to position Nigeria as a tech hub country, we should be able to take pride as an enabler of cryptocurrency and blockchain. Therefore, we must look for a holistic approach to address the risks that come with it. And that’s why I’m here with my team at Oduwa Blockchain Solutions.

“Our mission is to help the Nigerian government maximise the potential that comes with cryptocurrency and blockchain. This is because we believe these are tech solutions that can make Nigeria a global equaliser,” he added.
