  • Jennifer Lopez sued for $6.5m for stealing ‘World of Dance’

    American singer, Jennifer Lopez, has been sued for $6.5million by Alvin Gray-El, for allegedly stealing his idea of ‘World of Dance’ TV show.

    Lopez, who is the judge and executive producer on NBC’s “World of Dance,” is being sued by Gray-El, who claimed he came up with the idea for the TV show.

    Gray-El reportedly filed a Federal lawsuit this week against the singer and a famed choreographer Debbie Allen.

    According to Gray-El, the ‘World of Dance’ was a total rip of his idea for a show called “Let’s Start the Dance’ in 2009, which he first pitched to renowned choreographer Debbie Allen.

    He also claimed to have faxed a letter to Debbie Allen and her production company in an effort to see if she was interested in producing the show.

    In 2010, Gray-El said he had the show registered with the U.S. Copyright Office.

    According to him, some years later, he discovered that the “World of Dance” was in the works at NBC in 2017.

    He added that he tried to contact NBC to notify them of the copyright infringement but he did not get a reply.

    Gray-El is asking for $5 million in actual damages and $1.5 million in punitive damages.

    In December 2018, Lopez starred in the comedy film ‘Second Act’ directed by Peter Segal she also produced the film, and recorded the single “Limitless’ for its soundtrack.

    She is set to star in as an executive producer of ‘ Hustler’, directed by Lorene Scafaria for STX Entertainment inspired by a New York article by Jessica Pressler, entitled ‘The Hustlers at Scores’.

    She is also attached to star as drug lord Griselda Blanco in a television film for HBO which would focus on the “rise and fall” of Blanco and to serve as an executive producer for the film, which is currently in development.

    lopez as an executive producer, is also developing an untitled legal drama for CBS and futuristic drama series entitled C.R.I.S.P.R. for NBC.

  • World Wizkid Day: Fans eulogise music star on Twitter

    Thousands of fans have taken to Twitter to list Wizkid’s achievements under the hashtag #WorldWizkidDay.

    News Agency of Nigeria reports that #WorldWizkidDay is the number two trending topic on Twitter at the time of this report with fans eulogising the ‘Ojuelegba’ singer.

    The trend started after videos of his interview with a US radio station went viral. The hosts of the show were starstruck and attempted to take photographs with Wizkid while the interview was ongoing.

    Following that, more videos of his career milestones flooded the timeline. These included his O2 show, his major interview as an upcoming artist, his iconic visit to a racially diverse London high school and his declaration at Minnesota.

    Fans also took the opportunity to share their most iconic Wizkid moments, best songs from the singer and the traits he is most loved for.

    The music star is also the first African artist to walk the runway at a Dolce and Gabbana fashion show while his music `Soco’ played at the background.

    Wizkid started recording music at age 11 and managed to release a collaborative album with the Glorious Five, a group he and a couple of his church friends formed.

  • My baby Daddy and I are not suitable – Linda Ikeji

    Popular blogger, Linda Ikeji says her and her baby Daddy, Sholaye Jeremi are not suitable partners.

    The 37 year old blogger took to her blog to detail reasons why her relationship with, her son’s father whom she met in Dec. 2015, didn’t work out as she had expected.

    Ikeji, who welcomed her son, Jayce on Sept. 17 in Atlanta, Georgia, had many Nigerians wondering the real story behind her and Jeremi.

    In her ‘epistle,’ she shared the strength and shortcomings in her relationship with Jeremi which eventually ended after she got pregnant for their son.

    ” By mid-2017, we were both still single and we started seeing each other again quietly. There were times it was very intense and we talked about a future together, and there were times that I couldn’t figure out what exactly I was doing with this guy.

    ” We were not suited for each other. Totally different lifestyles and there was the problem of my fame so I walked away from this man a million times and he came after me a million and one times.

    ” No matter how much I pushed him away, he kept coming back to me, because I couldn’t find anyone else, I kept going back. Lol! So I was basically going back to my ex because I couldn’t find anyone else,” she said.

    According to her, after she got pregnant everything became extremely weird between them.

    “We went from talking about the pregnancy and being okay with it, to literally not talking to each other anymore.

    “When I was about three months pregnant, he did come to see my parents and actually became very cool with my dad. They were literally exchanging Whatsapp messages every day.

    “He later agreed to a traditional wedding which he didn’t follow through and then he switched. He began to treat me with so much hate and aggression that I and my family had to cut him off completely.

    “To be honest if anybody had told me when we met three years ago, considering how deeply we cared for each other that I would fall pregnant two years later and he would completely turn his back on me for most part of my pregnancy, I never would have believed it but that’s what happened.

    “I thought God sent him as my life partner but I guess he just used him as a vessel for my greatest blessing. Now his part in my story is over. This one is done and dusted,” she said.

  • D’banj sign fresh deal with Sony Music

    Oladapo Oyebanjo, aka D’banj, and Sony Music Africa, have signed a record deal.

    Michael Ugwu, a Sony Music Entertainment West Africa, representative, made this known on his instagram handle on Thursday.

    D’banj signed the undisclosed deal under his record label, DKM record.

    Ugwu also posted images from the signing captioned in pidgin: “DKM+SONY Music Africa, this one no be welcome, this one nah welcome back #ibelieve.

    “We cannot wait to see what is next for the kokomaster, D’banj,’’ Ugwu said.

    D’banj recently walked the runway at the African Fashion International Johannesburg Fashion Week.

    The musician, singer, songwriter, entrepreneur, television personality and rapper, teamed up with South African designer David Tlale, as he showcased a suit while strutting comfortably down the runway recently in Johannesburg.

    He has won several music awards, including the awards for Best African Act at the MTV Europe Music Award 2007, Artist of the Year at the MTV Africa Music Awards 2009.

    Best International Act: Africa at the 2011 BET Awards, and Best-selling African Artist 2014 World Music Awards, Evolution award at the 2015 MTV Africa Music awards.

  • Video: Tiwa Savage wins Best African Act at MTV EMA

    Nigeria’s queen of music, Tiwa Savage has won the 2018 MTV Europe Music Awards (MTV EMAs) in the Best African Act category.

    The annual MTV EMA held last night at the expansive Bilbao Exhibition Center, Bilbao, Spain, amidst glitz and glamour, awarding music artistes around the globe in different categories.

    The African act category was infused into the MTV EMA to enhance musical alliances across borders, and promote cultural integrations.
