    How our parents saved our lives – Erigga

    Popular rapper, Erigga, whose real name is Erhiga Agarivbie has reflected briefly on the new parenting styles and the impact they have on children.

    The “Motivation” crooner, expressed a newfound appreciation for the strict upbringing he received from his parents.

    In a series of tweets, Erigga confessed that during his upbringing, he often perceived his parents’ strictness as excessive.

    However, with the perspective gained over time, he said he now believes that their approach may have been instrumental in saving the lives of many individuals in the present generation.

    Erigga wrote: “I used to think our parents were so strict, but watching these kids today, I think our parents saved our lives.”

    Popular rapper, Erhiga Agarivbie, better known as Erigga, has revealed how his father resurfaced in his life after years of neglect.

    He disclosed that his father’s sense of entitlement is more than his involvement when he was a growing young child.

    Erigga said his father was absent during his upbringing but has suddenly shown up with an entitled mentality.

    He claimed that while his father had not been active in his upbringing, he began contacting him and making demands as soon as he achieved success.

    Erigga revealed this in the most recent episode of the Spill With Phyna podcast.

    Erigga openly expressed his feelings on this matter, delving into the confusing mixture of resentment, curiosity, and reluctant acceptance that he now grapples with when it comes to his father’s sudden involvement in his life.

    He said: “When you see parents start feeling entitled, it doesn’t make sense because you had many years ahead of me, why didn’t make it before me? People don’t really address this entitlement mentality in Africa.

    “I was facing the street alone. I was involved in too many things that I can’t even say on camera. And I just keep wondering like what if I was shot or arrested? Because most of the people I was with then are either dead or in jail.

    “I’ve to start raising myself at the age of 8. I started living with my friends and learning bad habits. But then again, I fell in love with music at a very tender age so I knew where I wanted to be regardless of where I was. Then many years later, I now become Erigga then somebody comes and say, ‘Yo! You’re not taking care of me. You’re not doing this and that.’ And I’m like, ‘Bro, na relations we be because you no father the father wey you suppose father normally. I don father myself alone. And I can’t give you the credit.

    “All my stepbrothers started begging me to forgive our dad, saying he wasn’t also responsible to them. But at the end of the day, they are only having the conversation with me because I am who I am.”

    Hip-hop artiste, Erhiga Agarivbie aka Erigga, has said men shouldn’t be questioned if they decide to be with multiple women if they have financial freedom.

    He said men shouldn’t be blamed because of what the societal norms have vested in them.

    Speaking in a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, the Warri-born rapper argued that the society believes that men don’t deserve women if they don’t have money.

    He added that the same society shouldn’t judge them if they decided to have multiple women after making money.

    He said: “A society that tells the guy you are not supposed to have a woman until you have money should not tell the person how many women he can have when he has that money.”

    He said any man who teaches a girl how to smoke ‘loud” (a strain of cannabis) and CSP must eventually tie the knot with her. 

    The ‘Motivation’ singer also accused men of encouraging women to prostitute by inviting a female entrepreneur to their home as a criterion for sponsoring their business.
