  • Seven evicted from Next Movie Star

Seven Housemates have been shown the door, in the ongoing Next Movie Star reality show. They are: Grace Otoaye, Ajoke Tamunotari Alabi, Christopher Ogwuche, Florence Hungbo, Folasade Abimbola, Pranky Ilori and Ghana’s Alex Agyemeng Ntiamoah.

First to be evicted from the house was Alex Agyemeng Ntiamoah who was voted out by his follow housemates in a ballot after a task called the ‘Knowing me knowing me Game’. A twist was however added to the scenario as Akongo, the Voice of the house, exempted the acting captain from the whole eviction exercise, who ironically was not in the good books of the other housemates.

After the whole voting excise, Grace Otoaye, Ajoke Tamunotari Alabi, Christopher Ogwuche, Florence Hungbo, Folasade Abimbola, Pranky Ilori, were put up for eviction.

Christopher was however evicted inspite of having amassed more votes from his fellow housemates. The display of emotion was evident as tears flowed freely from the other housemates in solidarity for the evicted colleague.

It was an emotional moment, as Housemates who survived the wind of eviction were left in tears after seeing their colleagues leave the house.

The evicted housemates will be hosted to an eviction party later by the organisers.

Tagged The Game Changer, the show is in its 11th edition this year.

  • Three evicted from Glo Dance with Peter

Three evicted from Glo Dance with Peter

Three housemates were, last Saturday, evicted following the outcome of the votes cast by viewers at the reality T.V show, Dance with Peter, sponsored by Glo. While Amazing Amy, Bobby B and Octopus recorded the highest votes from the audience and returned to the academy, SoCrazy Cool, Weezy and MOD recorded the lowest votes and were consequently sent packing from the dance academy. The six dancers had been put up for eviction in last week’s edition of the show.

The judges, Peter Okoye of PSquare, Dance queen Kaffy, Dance choreographer, Don Flexx, and Omawumi who featured as a guest judge encouraged the evictees to remain focused and consistent in achieving their dream saying that the Dance with Peter show is just a stepping stone for them.

With the eviction, the academy was left with 15 housemates who were given the task of performing the dance steps of any music legend of their choice. The focus in last week’s edition was “Legendary Throwback.”

One after the other, the housemates thrilled the audience with scintillating dance steps, trying to out-dance one another to avoid eviction. Messiah performed Boney M’s Daddy Cool, Paullete perfomed Cindy Lauper’s Just wanna have fun, Nekky performed Angelique Kidjo’s Agolo, while G-Xtreme performed Tina Turner’s What’s love got to do?

At the end of the performance, those put up for eviction are Paulette (519), Nekky (530), Bobby Blankson (510), Teejay (516) and Yemy (525).

Globacom, in a statement, encouraged viewers to vote for their favorite contestants. “Voters stand a chance of winning fantastic prizes including Iphone 5 handsets, Glo internet wifi and modems as well as Glo recharge cards”.b

  • GUS 11: Iwuoha Ikenna, Nwagbagiro Sandra evicted

GUS 11: Iwuoha Ikenna, Nwagbagiro Sandra evicted

For both Iwuoha Ikenna and Nwagbagiro Sandra, their balloons of hope in the ongoing 11th edition of the Gulder Ultimate Search The Mission were punctured at the weekend when they were evicted, thereby jeopardising their dreams of winning N10m and a brand new SUV.

Their eviction has, therefore, brought to a premature end their quest to find the General’s War Helmet

Interestingly, viewers got to know their individual mindset, following their eviction, during an interview session.

Obviously distraught, Sandra gave a picture of someone who was in company with an incompatible partner in the jungle.  “Since we became partner, it hasn’t been going on well. It is taking time for him to pick up and you can’t push him more than that. It is so unfortunate that two of us are team mates. I can’t help it; I’m trying my best. But if he goes down, I go down with him.”

On the other hand, Ikenna painted a rather gloomy picture when he disclosed that he had foreseen his premature exit from the moment he was paired with Sandra.  “I knew that my days were numbered since the day I was paired up with her. I knew both us were not compatible. I’ve been living another kind of life that I don’t like; I’ve been under subjection. But I think God has the best for me,” she said.

Following their eviction, they have now joined both Eriata Blessing and Erjiakpor Loretta who had earlier been evicted from the Gulder Ultimate Search XI. The duo, who had been bogged down by poor performance, emerged last in the ‘Protect Your Shield.’

  • 1,000 evicted from Onitsha barracks

The mood in Onitsha, the commercial city of Anambra State, yesterday was pensive as 1,000 policemen living in the barracks at Central Police Station (CPS) and Area Command were ejected from their homes.

The Nation reports that a combined team of policemen, bailiffs and executors, led by the Commissioner of Police, Bala Nassarawa, demolished the houses and shops as well as makeshift structures.

The policemen accused the state police command of complicity in the demolition.

The victims with their families were seen making alternative arrangements.

It was gathered that the Ekwerekwu family of Onitsha leased the land to the police about 100 years ago and on expiration of the lease, the family went to court to recover the land and its prayer was granted.

The evictees accused the Onitsha Area Commander, Benjamin Wordu, the Central Police Divisional Officer, Mr. Tope and Nassarawa of collaborating with the family to eject them.

But Nassarawa said only illegal structures were demolished.

He denied that the police were demolishing officers’ houses.

One of the victims, Inspector Udoh, said he had been living in the barracks for 21 years and had paid tenancy to the police authorities.

He said the commissioner could not describe them as illegal occupants.

Udo said: “It was yesterday morning that we saw a quit notice pasted on our doors signed by Officer in Charge of Provost.

“It ordered us to vacate our homes and our wives to vacate their shops within 48 hours without prior notice.

“Before now, we had no problem with anybody, as we were paying our tenancy to the relevant authority and even some of us have just signed what we call accommodation money in January.

“The money is being deducted from our salaries. To wake up and kick us out of our homes is an act of wickedness.”

Speaking for Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA) Shop Owners Association, Mrs. Maria Iguh said the demolition was done in bad faith and called on President Goodluck Jonathan to come to their aid.

Mrs. Iguh said: “We bought these shops from POWA and since then we have been paying to the police for what they called security and we obeyed and painted our shops in police colour.

“Then this morning, we saw quit notice ordering us to vacate within 48 hours.

“We are in trouble because some of us have lost all we’ve worked for. We don’t have any other place to go,” she said.

Police spokesman Emeka Chukwuemeka said there was a court order that the police should vacate the place, so the order is being executed.

“The Ekwerekwu family of Onitsha leased out the land and in a bid to recover it after expiration of the lease went to court and got judgment in its favour.

“It is not police land, the victims should be patient because with time the hiccups will be over,” he concluded.
