Firm denies land grabbing allegations by Enugu community

An Abuja-based real estate firm, Eya Homes, has denied allegations of impunity and land grabbing, levelled against the company by the Umuezenevu Village, Ibute-Egede Autonomous Community in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State.

The company insisted that it had never got involved in any illegal dealings in all its nearly 30 estates across the country.

The people of the community had recently staged a protest on the land located along the new dual carriage- 9th Mile – Obollo Afor Highway, accusing the company of illegally entering their land and destroying economic trees on the guise of building an estate.

The community called on the company to immediately remove its bulldozers and caterpillars from their land, insisting that it had not sold nor authorised anybody, entity or estate agents or cronies to advertise for sale or carry out any form of land transactions for themselves or on behalf of Uumuezenevu village.

But reacting in an interview with newsmen, the Managing Director of Eya Homes, Chief Chinedu Eya, described the allegation as false and unfounded, disclosing that the firm never in the first place transacted any land deals with the community.
