Nasarawa United striker, Tayo Fabiyi has expressed his delight scoring in his side’s victory against El-Kanemi Warriors.

The former Shooting Stars forward scored twice to add to Abdulrahman Bashir’s well taken goal as the Solid Miners conquered the Desert Warriors 3-0 on Saturday.

“I’m happy for the two goals, especially because it allowed us to win an important game,” Fabiyi told Goal.

“We have to continue with this attitude, to keep doing things the way we are.

“Our objectives? We want to end the season as high as possible.”

Nasarawa United have temporarily moved to sixth on the NPFL log with 40 points.

Shooting Stars’ Fabiyi seeks return to action

Shooting Stars’ Fabiyi Emmanuel has revealed he will return to action soon.

The goalkeeper was stretched out in the Oluyole Warriors’ away win against MFM FC in Agege.

“I injured my toe and couldn’t continue. It was a painful experience but I’m hopeful that I’ll make return pretty soon,” Fabiyi told Goal.

“I’m going for a scan later on Tuesday (yesterday) to determine the extent of the injury but basically I think I may be out for two weeks and most likely make a return in three weeks time.”

The former Kano Pillars goalkeeper has played in 22 matches in all competitions for the Ibadan based outfit this term.

  • Shooting Stars will bounce back-Fabiyi

    Shooting Stars will bounce back-Fabiyi

Shooting Stars goalkeeper Emmanuel Fabiyi has told AfricanFootball.com his team will turn the corner in the second round of the Nigeria league after a poor run thus far.

Shooting Stars are second from bottom with 17 points from 18 matches.

The Benin Republic international admitted the Ibadan darling club are facing hard times now, but they will get over it in good time.

“We are down now doesn’t mean we are not good enough to be at the top of the league table,” Fabiyi said.

“It’s just that sometimes we don’t get it right in most away games we have played. We are facing difficulties now but we will get over it. We are playing without salaries and others and that is not easy.

“But what I am sure about is that Shooting Stars will never be in this position in second round of the league.”

He therefore called on the Oyo State Government to come to the rescue of the team financially and assure the fans they will make them happy soon.

“It’s a pity the government is not doing its part,” he said.

“And to our fans and supporters, all I will say is that we are going to do everything to save the face of our supporters and fans from shame.

“We have already started that in our last home game against Abia Warriors. I am promising on behalf of my mates that even if the government is not ready to do its part, which is greatly affecting the team, we are going to put the flag of 3SC on the continent at the end of the season.”

    Fabiyi not underestimating MFM FC

It promises to be an entertaining affair when Nasarawa United host newcomers MFM FC in match day one of the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday.

The Kabiru Dogo-managed side will lock horns with the Olukoya Boys at the Abuja National Stadium with football fans expected to be treated to a spectacle.

Top striker of Nasarawa United, Tayo Fabiyi has warned his team mates on the consequences of underrating the newly promoted MFM FC.

”Football fans will be treated to a spectacle as both teams will be gunning for the three maximum points at stake,” Tayo Fabiyi told Goal.

”It’s our first game of the season, which is a must-win for us. We mustn’t underrate the MFM side for that could be suicidal,” he continued.

The former Sharks and Shooting Stars striker also hailed the quality in the playing personnel of the Lafia-based side.

”When you are surrounded by quality players the resolve to perform is always certain. The quality in this team is enormous,” Fabiyi added.

Fabiyi dumps 3SC for Nasarawa Utd

SportingLife understands that Tayo Fabiyi has joined Nasarawa United from Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan.

Fabiyi was one of the Oluyole Warriors’ star performers last season.

Interestingly, Fabiyi scored one of the two goals that gave Ibadan-based side a 2-1 win over Nasarawa United at the Lafia Township Stadium last season.

SportingLife’s check at the Nasarawa United pre-season camp in Ilorin revealed that the striker has started training with the Solid Miners.

Fabiyi was one of the new players paraded by the Nasarawa United against FC Yobo in the friendly encounter at the Ilorin Township stadium on Thursday.

Other new players lined up against Yobo FC are Abdulraman Bashir, Austin Achive from Lobi Stars, Tunde Solomon who returned to the team from Enyimba FC.

Fabiyi’s move may not be unconnected with the uncertainty at the Oluyole Warriors camp in Ibadan.

3SC chairman Rasheed Balogun had on Tuesday evening suggested in his addressed to club’s staff that many players may not return to club.

Balogun also threatened to dump the club due to the way Oyo State Government has been handling the team’s fund.

The Government has reduced club’s subvention by 45%, which according to Balogun, will affect his plans for the team.

Nasarawa United chairman, Isaac Danladi said the new players have added value to the team.

“Fabiyi is in Ilorin with us. He played in the friendly match against FC Yobo. I think the friendly game against FC Yobo was a good game for us. FC Yobo is a club with experienced players. The line was full of new players and old players that are on probation. It is a good start for us and I believe before the end of our pre-season programmes we would be able to produce good squad,” Danladi told SportingLife.

    Goalkeeper Fabiyi has quit Pillars

The former Sunshine Stars goalkeeper said coach Okey Emordi has not given him a chance to prove himself.

“I have terminated my contract with Kano Pillars,” Fabiyi told AfricanFootball.com

“It is high time I moved to another team where they want me, the club management and the fans have shown me lot of love, but coach Okey Emordi is not ready to give me a chance at all, which is not good for me.

“I have met the management and told them my mind and they have accepted my decision. The club invited me over because they know my capability and qualities as a goalkeeper. I have played against Pillars with four different clubs six times and we lost only twice.

“I let them know that since the coach is not interested in playing me in games, it means I am not wanted in Pillars, so I want to go to where I am wanted and will make impact on the team and my career.

“Not playing league games will affect my national team career, I need not stay where a coach doesn’t want me.”

Fabiyi has played for Abia Warriors, Sunshine Stars, Bayelsa United, Enyimba, Niger Tornadoes and Gateway.

    Sharks declare Olaoke, Fabiyi missing

The Management of Sharks FC have declared two of its players missing from the club. They are Yomi Olaoke and Tayo Fabiyi.

The General Manager of the team, Okey Kpaluku, who made this known in a statement made available to SportingLife by the club’s media officer, Peter Abaje, said  both players were last seen in camp after week 11 and 12 encounters in the league respectively.

Kpaluku said the disappearance of both players, has further depleted the struggling side and wondered why the players will leave the club without informing the  officials despite the challenges facing the team.

“How can players just disappear from camp without taking permission from the Management or Technical Crew.”

“We cannot give account of the whereabout of these two players and just imagine the negative impact in the team, the season has been pretty rough for us,” Kpaluku said.

He added that the players should know they have a contract with the club and as such have no choice but to return to camp.
