On March 20, the British International School in Lagos played host to a grand celebration in honour of the Lagos high chief, ‘Tunde Fanimokun, as he marked his 80th birthday.
Fanimokun, a well-known figure in public, corporate, and social circles in the city, used this milestone birthday as an opportunity to give back to his community in a significant way. Demonstrating his commitment to education, he announced generous donations to various educational institutions in Lagos state.
Among the notable contributions made by Fanimokun was the donation of a 7-storey administrative block to the Methodist High School, a campus at Osoolu Island for Yaba College of Technology, a Green Building project aimed at providing a state-of-the-art educational facility for the people of Lagos.

His philanthropic endeavours also extended to the Quran Community Muslim School in Isale Eko, where he pledged a substantial sum of N50 million towards its development. In addition to these initiatives, he allocated funds for scholarships and medical equipment.
In honour of his former boss and ex-Governor of Lagos state, the late Lateef Kayode Jakande, Fanimokun established an endowment for good governance at Lagos State University.
He also initiated an entrepreneurship endowment in the late Wahab Folawiyo’s name at Yaba College of Technology.
