    I’ve never taken alcohol, smoked in my life – Singer Faze

    Singer and former member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, Chibuzor Oji, popularly known as Faze, has claimed he has never tasted alcohol, smoked cigarettes or engaged in illicit substance abuse.

    The 46-year-old said a healthy lifestyle of drinking water was responsible for the longevity of his singing voice and physical well-being.

    Speaking in a recent interview with TVC, Faze said: “I don’t do anything special to maintain my voice. I think it has to do with my lifestyle. I don’t take drugs and I’ve never drank alcohol or smoked in my life.

    “It has to do with health too. I’m the kind of person that likes to check up on my health.”

    TALENTED music artiste, songwriter and producer, Ezerioha Ebuka better known as Popito Baron has released a new single, Laslas’, featuring reigning female pop star, Teni the Entertainer.

    This is coming after the successful release of his classic tune, ‘Coming Thru’, which is still enjoying massive airplay.

    Popito Baron, since pitched tent with the TNBT records has worked on many musical projects.

    He is known to have produced hits songs for big names in the entertainment industry that includes Timaya, Skales, Davido, Orezi, Faze, Tunde Ednut, Solidstar, Cynthia Morgan, Terry Apala, Chuddy K, Morachi, Tonto Dike, Stormrex and Splash amongst others.

    Fast rising pop singer, Tomessi, has revealed how Faze and 2face are his role model in the Nigerian music industry.

    Tomessi whose real name is Tochukwu Godwin, said the duo has so far made Nigerian music great.

    According to Tomessi, it all started with Faze and thereafter 2Face.

    Speaking of 2face, Tomessi said he pours the whole of his heart into making conscious music.

    “You can hear him telling his story and speaking reality through his lyrics,” Tomessi added.

    When asked what he tends to change in the Nigerian music industry if given a chance, Tomessi said the way the industry is structured needs to be fixed.

    Tomessi stressed that up and coming artistes and the striving ones, need a leverage one way or the other. He maintained that to chun out a quality content doesn’t just drive away one’s energy as an artiste, but also consumes one financially.

    ACTDF’S ‘Unleash Your Talent 2017’ to hold grand finale on Sept 8

    The stage is finally set for the grand finale of the ‘Unleash Your Talent 2017’ of African Children Talent Discovery Foundation (ACTDF)’s Unleash Your Talent 2017, an initiative that seeks to discover talents in singing, dancing and acting.

    The event has been scheduled for September 8, in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

    Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Thursday, president of the foundation, Noah Dallaji, said the show will give hope to young Nigerians in despair; while integrating them for the purpose of nation building.

    He expressed optimism that the grand finale would afford participants the chance to celebrate life and enjoy it to the fullest.

    “When we see our efforts impact positively on the needy and watch them, in turn, use their God given talents to influence the larger society positively, we become satisfied,” he said.

    He explained that the foundation had continued through thick and thin to uplift human lives in a most spectacular and humane way across the nation and beyond the shores of Africa.

    He added that while the foundation scouts for talents and help in developing same, it believes that harnessing human resources could help improve all aspects of tourism.

    Dallaji said the foundation would use its participation at the summit to showcase the potentials in Nigerian youths to the world.

    He said the winners would also join the foundation on a trip to New York for the United Nations (UN) summit later in September.

    Dallaji said the first and second runners up at the grand finale would get varied contracts in their respective fields worth millions of naira and cash prizes.

    Some of the celebrities expected at the event include ACTDF’s ambassadors- Ejike Asiegbu, Emeka Rollas, Tonto Dikeh, Thelma Okoduwa Ojiji, Lilian Esoro, Alex Usifo, Kate Henshaw, Marvelous Benji, Black Solo, Faze, Yemi Blaq and Sound Sultan among others.

    Also expected at the occasion is the Senate President, Bukola Saraki and Rivers State Governor, Nyesome Wike who is going to host the massive guests expected in the state on the said date.

    PLANTASHUN BOYZ working on collaboration—Faze

    FAZE, one of the members of the defunct music group, Plantashun Boyz, has revealed plans for a collaborative work with other members of the group.

    He made this disclosure after the performance of the Plantashun Boyz on February 2, in Festac Town, Lagos.

    Faze, who is working on a new album due for release in March, said,“I am working on my album titled Descender. We are looking at March. Very soon, we will put up a date for it. I am thinking of including a song that Plantashun Boyz did in the album. It feels memorable; it feels good. It is not the first time we will be doing such, anyway. It really feels great and exciting to sing together again. My videos of two singles, Lambo and Ifeoma, will soon be out. I am also working on a new single, which will be released soon.

    “We have been working together, though we all have our busy schedules. I believe the time will come for that.We worked on it, but we have not really finished it. It is in the making. We are all busy pursuing our solo careers and other things. Very soon, an album should drop from Plantashun Boyz.”

    For many stakeholders in the nation’s entertainment industry, Saturday, February 1, will go down as most memorable, as Nigerian Breweries Plc. brought back memories of the defunct singing group, Plantashun Boiz, comprising Tuface Idibia, Faze and Black Faze.

    The well-attended event held at Festac Town, Lagos.

    While the trio of Tuface, Blackface and Faze performed, the venue literally rose and tumbled in joy and the audience was in a feeling of intense delight.

    Plantashun Boiz was one of the celebrated Nigerian music acts in the early ’90s until their disintegration, a development that caused a stir in the music industry.

    Since the trio decided to pursue their solo career, a lot has happened in their individual life. Today, Tuface Idibia is arguably the luckiest, while the others, particularly Blackface, are still struggling to make impressionable impacts in the nation’s music industry.

    Calabar Festival: Faze holds revellers spellbound

    Faze, one of Nigeria’s hip-hop musical icons and a member of the defunct Plantashun Boiz, thrilled fans at the Calabar Festival over the weekend.

    While he went down memory lane with his hit tunes after becoming a solo artiste, the teeming crowd danced and sang along with indescribable excitement. He also used the moment to literally pour effusive praises on the Cross River State government for giving both the established and budding artistes the opportunity to showcase their genres of music.

    Besides, he also introduced his new songs, Ifeoma and Lambo, to the excited crowd.

    In the Disc Jockey (DJ) competition, involving nine persons, DJ Spin came tops and carted away the star prize of N100,000, while the second and third persons went home with N70,000 and N50,000, respectively.

    By this feat, DJ Spin became the first Calabar Festival International DJ champion. Consequently, he will be defending the title next year.

    According to the chairman of the panel of judges, Maurice Inok, a.k.a. Doctor Grove, the criteria used for judgment included ability to use the musical equipment, continuity, avoidance of foul languages, confidence and appearance, amongst others.

    In Calabar’s Got Talent IV, three dancers emerged champions, winning free meal tickets for lunch at Beverly Heels Hotel, Calabar. Also, Sir James, a budding star, emerged the winner of the comedy competition for unknown stars.

    Artistes, who participated included Smash(R & B); Pat Reel who did a remix of “Mammy Water” by Sir Victor Nwaifo and “Emum Isong Eni Nnyin”, an Efik tune by the late Peter Efiom; Okomokom, who played old school tunes; Shaka Jagger, a UK-based Nigerian hip hop star; Julie Hay, a female R & B star and Rugged man.

    The memorable occasion also afforded some young boys and girls to exhibit their talents in singing and those who put up excellent performances were recorded with prizes and promises of recording contracts.
