But a top Enyimba official revealed big-spending IfeanyiUbah approached the highly-rated goalkeeper with a double offer at the airport, but Dauda rejected it.

“IfeanyiUbah promised to double whatever Enyimba gave Dauda, but the goalkeeper insisted that he has given his word to join Enyimba and also Enyimba are a bigger brand than IfeanyiUbah,” disclosed the official.

The goalkeeper insisted: “The only club I want to play for in Nigeria is Enyimba. I am a longtime admirer of the club because of their rich history and professionalism.”

Though details of the deal were not disclosed to SportingLife, this will be the second time that the ex-Heartland gaffer will be in charge of the Nnewi side after leading them to the Premier League two seasons ago.

Dobrev, who was also linked to Enyimba, flew into the country last Friday to rejoin the club where he was thought to have been sacked early last season.

But officials of the club explained that he left the club last year to take up a one year coaching course after reaching an understanding with the club.

Dobrev who was received by the Chairman of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Chukwuma Ubah could not hide his delight on his return to the Nnewi based side.

Chukwuma Ubah expressed his pleasure at the return of the gaffer whom he described as an experienced coach, especially when it comes to African football.

“We are extremely delighted to have him back with us and we firmly believe he is the right man to steer this ship to its destination,” Chukwuma affirmed.

    • Praises Pinnick, Oliseh

Heartland Team Manager, Promise Nwachukwu has warned the Naze Millionaires players not to toy with their chances of getting away points in their Glo Premier League Week 35 tie with FC IfeanyiUbah in Nnewi today.

The Owerri side are seventh on the league table with 50 points from 34 matches but Nwachukwu in a chat with SportingLife  revealed that for the team to end the season better than they did last season, they must take all their remaining matches seriously, especially the tie in Nnewi today.

Nwachukwu reckoned that all points against the Anambra Warriors would provide them with a sensational double and also the bragging rights over them ahead of next season.

“We need to take the game with FC IfeanyiUbah very seriously because we would like to end the season impressively and a victory in Nnewi would afford us that opportunity and also the chance to brag that we have claimed a double over them,” Nwachukwu told SportingLife.

He, also in a related development, heaped plaudits on the leadership qualities of the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) under Amaju Melvin Pinnick and the head coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh.

Pinnick was elected as the President of the NFF in September last year and this has brought about a lot of changes in the Glasshouse including the sending of selected coaches and match officials for courses in England and other elitist ideas aimed at changing the face of football in Nigeria.

Nwachukwu in a brief chat with SportingLife noted that Pinnick should be praised and not castigated for all his good works aimed at putting Nigeria on the world map again.

The former Serbia based player also hailed the impact of Oliseh on the Eagles stating that it has made Nigeria a strong and more disciplined team based on the issues that brewed up in the Eagles camp during the double header friendlies against Cameroon and Congo DR in Belgium.

He asserted that all Nigerians should rally round and support both individuals and those working with them so that the country can be great again.

“We are right now working on remaining in the Premier League for the remainder of the ongoing league season. We are no more contesting for the league title as well as continental ticket, at least for this season.

“Next season we can start all over the campaign to win the league title and ticket to Africa. We will now fight to win our two remaining home matches and any point on the road will be a huge plus.

“Our target right now is to finish among the top 10 and that will be good for us as far as the ongoing season is concerned.
