    The Army has said troops of 251 Battalion arrested a female suicide bomber attempting to wreak havoc on Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

    It warned famers in Maiduguri area to close up their farming activities and return home by 4 p.m everyday as from yesterday.

    A statement by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations, 7 Division of the Army in Maiduguri, Colonel Kingsley Samuel, reads: “All farmers to please note that all gates along the Maiduguri parapet will henceforth close by 1600 hours (4 p.m). So, farmers are enjoined to leave their farms early to make the timing.”

    The suicide bomber, according to the Army, was arrested at Goni Kachallari, near Muna Motor Park in Maiduguri.

    A statement from the Army’s twitter handles, https://twitter.com/HQNigerianArmy/status/1062337897502830593, shows that the female suicide bomber, Shaidatu Adamu, is a 19-year-old from Gwoza.

    She was reportedly captured and had been in Sambisa Forest in the last three years.

    The Army’s tweets read: “Troops arrest female suicide bomber at Goni Kalachari, Borno State. Troops of 251 Task Force Battalion, Maiduguri, arrested a female suicide bomber who attempted to infiltrate Maiduguri to detonate her suicide vest and inflict maximum casualty on innocent Nigerians…

    “Upon interrogation, she said her name is Shaidatu Adamu, 19, from Gwoza in Borno State. She was sent on a lone mission. She confessed that she had been in Sambisa Forest for about three years.

    “Consequently, troops from 47 Explosive Ordinance Device Battalion were invited to diffuse the explosives. She has been transferred to 7 Military Intelligence Brigade, Maiduguri, for further investigations.”

    A female suicide bomber had cleverly approached a soldier and made love advances on the soldier before detonating her explosive ridden body, a security source has said.

    According to the source, the female suicide bomber approached a military check point at Konduga pretending to like the soldier, asking for the soldier’s mobile number all in an attempt to get closer to the soldier to explode.

    “The female suicide bomber came and was laughing and playing that he likes one of the soldiers, she requested for the GSM no of the soldiers trying to get closer when the IEDs on her body exploded,” the source informed.

    Unconfirmed sources said two soldiers were killed in the incident which occurred at Mashimari military check point near IDP Camp in Konduga local government area of Borno State.

    But the Borno State Police Command said only the suicide bomber died in the attack with two soldiers wounded.

    The police spokesman in the state DSP Victor Isuku in a brief statement reads; “Information just received from the DPO Konduga Division, has it that on 17/5/17 at about 1930 hrs, a female suicide bomber, detonated IED strapped to her body at Mashimari by Military checkpoint behind IDP camp at Konduga, killing herself only.

    “While two Soldiers were reported injured as a result of the explosion. Scene was visited by team of EOD personnel, rendered safe and normalcy restored,” Dsp Isuku said.

     

  • Three female suicide bombers killed in Borno

    The Nigerian Army on Wednesday said it had killed three female suicide bombers when they came across  troops along Dutse area in Gwoza local government area of Borno State.

    The Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.- Gen. Lucky Irabor, confirmed the incident to journalists in Maiduguri.

    Irabor said the three female suicide bombers were intercepted following an intelligence report on their mission to Limankara in Gwoza Council.

    “Just this morning, we intercepted the bombers but the three of them resisted and tried to ram into our troops. And of course, we had no choice but to open fire on them,” the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) quoted the army commander as saying to journalists on the matter.

    He said the Nigerian troops and their Cameroonian counterparts had been making remarkable progress and recoveries in Ngwoshe axis and Gwoza hills.

    “Our troops and those of the Camaroon Republic have been recording tremendous successes in flushing out remnants of the Boko Haram terrorists in that axis.

    “And of course during the operation, we discovered stockpile of arms and ammunitions.

    “We also intercepted 30 cows at cashew plantation here in Maiduguri.

    “We also arrested one of the most wanted Boko Haram terrorists, number 164 on our list,” he added.

     

  • Suicide bomber, accomplice die in Borno blast

    A female suicide bomber and her accomplice were killed in a blast in Kasuwan Shanu, Borno State, on Monday.

    The spokesman of the state police command, Victor Isuku, confirmed this in a statement in Maiduguri, the state capital.

    “One of the suicide bombers detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) strapped to her body, killing her and the accomplice whose IED vest did not explode instantly,” Isuku said.

     

  • Female suicide bomber blew off self, injures others in Jos

    A female suicide bomber who attempted to attack the popular Umar Bin Khattab Mosque on Zoo Road in Kano metropolis, has killed herself and injured few others on Monday.

    An eye witness told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the incident occured around 9:21pm shortly after the congregational Isha and Tarawe prayer.

    The witness said the teenage bomber who alighted from a bus, attempted to enter the mosque before the explosives went off, killed her and injured some members of the vigilante attached to the mosque.

    It was gathered that the bomber retreated when she realised that the vigilante attached to the mosque were screening people with electronic device.

    According to the witness, the girl who missed her target, blew off herself shortly after she retreated, injuring those nearby.

    When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Magaji Majiya, confirmed the incident.

    He said that only the female bomber died in the attack which left a few persons injured.

    ‘’It was only the female suicide bomber that killed herself,” he said.

    He said security had since been beefed up in the area as combined team of security operatives had cordoned off the area.

    Majiya called on residents to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious persons or movement to security operatives for prompt action.
