Femi Lazarus, Timi Dakolo settle online rifts

Singer Timi Dakolo and Apostle Lazarus have put their differences aside, according to a recent post on the cleric’s Instagram page.

The two had been engaged in a public debate after Apostle Lazarus criticised gospel singers for charging high fees for their performances.

Dakolo countered the cleric, questioning the authenticity of an alleged invoice of Lazarus and pointing out the pastor himself charges for his school of ministry.

However, in a fresh post, Apostle Lazarus shared his photo with Dakolo and Apostle Iren, indicating that the two have reached a mutual understanding.

Lazarus praised Dakolo as a “music legend” who genuinely cares about the welfare of musicians.

The cleric acknowledged that the pain and concerns of musicians are real and expressed commitment to building better structures to support them.

He also emphasised the need for hosts and guests to do better in the future.

Lazarus wrote on Instagram: “My brother @timidakolo is a music legend. Give him his flowers. What a man! He genuinely carries the burdens of musicians. His concerns are real. I love you. Better structures will be built. Pain is real. From pulpit to the pew, the pain is real, but we will be fine.

“This generation will not have a carryover of pain. Hosts will do better. Guests will do better. We will have a better nation together. I don’t know how to edit my brother @pst_iren out of the picture.”

Femi Lazarus defends $150 fee after Dakolo’s criticism

Popular cleric Femi Lazarus has responded to criticism over the $150 fee for the school of ministry, which offers training and education in spiritual leadership and development he runs.

The controversy began when Lazarus condemned gospel singers’ high performance fees, sparking a reaction from singer Timi Dakolo.

Dakolo pointed out that Lazarus charges a fee for his school of ministry, seemingly contradicting his stance on gospel singers’ fees.

When questioned by a netizen, Deeemaths, about the fee, “But you charge $150 for your school of ministry? Please can you shed more light on it sir? I thought it’s ministry?”

Lazarus simply stated: “Yes o, it is a school”.

His response implies the education and training provided by his ministry school warrant compensation.

Timi Dakolo slams Femi Lazarus over gospel singers’ fees criticism

Singer Timi Dakolo has responded to Apostle Femi Lazarus’ recent criticism of gospel musicians who charge for their services.

In a lengthy social media post, Dakolo aimed at Lazarus’ comments, questioning the apostle’s definition of a gospel artist versus a performer.

Dakolo argued that Lazarus’ stance implies that anyone who charges for their services is not a true gospel minister.

The singer also pointed out that Lazarus charges for his own school of ministry, where he teaches and preaches about Jesus.

Dakolo calculated that Lazarus likely earns a significant amount of money from his school and asked whether this is not also a form of “selling the Gift and revelation freely given” to him.

Timi Dakolo reacted to Femi Lazarus claim on gospel ministers charging to sing

He wrote: “All this was said in love and with respect sir. I am not a gospel artist but a Christian raised in church.

“Let’s not shift the goal post. By your definition, if anyone charges to minister, they are not Gospel artist, they performers.

“And by that definition, if any preacher charges to teach and minister, they are merchants of hope and motivational speakers and performers too.

“Sir, you are charging as low as 150 dollars per person for your school of ministry. Teaching and preaching Jesus. Probably having as much as 1000 students . Let’s do the maths. You even have premium and standard for God house?

“Are you not selling the Gift and revelation freely given to you? Again let’s not keep shifting the goal post.

“Such hypocrisy, The school of ministry has expenses and Music creation doesn’t. Running cost important, production / promotion cost unimportant. Una well done.

“Most of you don’t know how much a producer charges, then the marketing, the promotion. The amount of hours it takes to finish a song. Keep shifting the goal post guys”.

Femi Lazarus sparks controversy over gospel singers’ fees

Renowned preacher Apostle Femi Lazarus has criticised the exorbitant fees charged by some gospel singers for ministrations.

During a recent sermon, he shared a purported invoice from a gospel artist, highlighting demands for a $10,000 honorarium, first-class travel, and luxury accommodation.

“The mistake on that invoice is the word ‘honorarium’ used; just tell them the price. When they pay you this amount of money, you will shout and roll on the floor, but those who know God know He’s not there,” he stated.

Apostle Lazarus argued that such financial expectations undermine the true purpose of gospel ministry, emphasising that spreading God’s word should take precedence over personal financial gain.

He also alleged that some gospel singers target smaller ministries with hefty fees while seeking endorsements from influential pastors.

“Many charlatans like this don’t bill big pastors because they use big pastors for endorsement,” he added.

The preacher’s statements have elicited mixed reactions, some supporters concur that the high fees are excessive and contradict the principles of ministry.

Others argue that gospel singers deserve fair compensation for their services and expenses, just like professionals in other fields.

@motilolaofjesus stated: ”He didn’t say don’t give money. He said CHARGE!”
