    Why I collaborated with Rema despite expected beef – Fireboy DML

    Afrobeats singer, Fireboy DML has stated he and colleague, Rema decided on a collaboration to prove a point to fans who expected a beef from them.

    He said they took the decision because they are advanced and they are also the leading stars of the new generation. 

    Speaking in an interview with Apple Music’s Ebro, Fireboy said: “Myself and Rema are the two leading [Afrobeats] artists of our generation. We came together and realised that instead of giving the fans what they want, which is beef, let’s collaborate. Because we are too advanced for this stuff.

    “We didn’t even give them a club banger, we made proper music. We have five more collaborations.”

    Fireboy and Rema were subjects of comparisons on social media after hitting stardom in the same year.

    The comparisons subsided after Fireboy featured Rema on a track titled, ‘Compromise’ off his third studio album, ‘Playboy’.

    The collaborative song was an indication that they were on good terms.

    Singer Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML, has recalled how he left an event in tears after the audience failed to recognise him.

    He said the incident happened during his early days as a struggling artiste.

    Speaking in an interview with Billboard News, Fireboy DML noted that every up-and-coming artiste faces challenges.

    He said: “Every upcoming artiste always go through a lot of stuff.

    “There was a show I went to perform and nobody even knew I was on stage or spared me a second glance. Everybody was just dancing.

    “The DJ was just DJing. I felt invisible and I went back to the car with my friend crying.

    Speaking in a recent interview with RollingStone, he said: “Right from time, even when I used to write my saddest songs, I used to imagine myself playing them in front of millions of people. I always imagine myself on stage when I write my songs.

    “So taking that energy from the studio to stage is really a piece of cake for me. What matters to me is making sure that I have fun. When I enjoy myself, everyone else enjoys themselves. Step by step, I learned from the greats, I studied; did artist development stuff like vocal training.

    “There was a time I tried to copy Beyonce’s routine. But I didn’t last two days.”

    Afrobeats singer Fireboy DML has revealed how he will be on the lookout for someone who would break his heart after the release of his upcoming fourth studio album.

    According to him, he will be going on a vacation in search of someone to break his heart.

    He wants to experience heartbreak because his next album, after his upcoming project, will be about heartbreak.

    On his X handle, Fireboy wrote: “Album roll out don start like this.

    “After this one, I’ll go on a vacation and try to find whoever’s gonna inspire the heartbreak album that will follow.”

    Fireboy has revealed in multiple interviews that his fourth studio album will arrive this year.

    However, he is yet to disclose the album title, release date, tracklist, and feature

    He said: “I am excited to share with the fans that I am releasing my album this year. I am finishing up the album here in LA. I’ve got an apartment with a pool. I want to be in an environment that reeks of happiness, peace of mind, and comfort. And that’s what I want the album to sound like”.

    Reflecting on the moment Madonna reached out to him via DM on Instagram, expressing her admiration for his work, he emphasized the pride he felt in collaborating with such an iconic figure in the music industry.

    He said: “Madonna sent me a DM on Instagram. I think she told me she was a fan and she loved the most unlikely song on my debut album. She is so weird and funny. I just love her.     “I went out on a date with Madonna and I would say that was probably the most memorable day of my life. It was an experience.”

    Recall that Madonna featured Fireboy in a remix of her 1998 classic, ‘Frozen’ in 2022 and they also shot a video for the song in the United States.

    In an interview with Billboard news, Fireboy said he is glad he agreed to go with Olamide because the decision helped him in other areas of his life.

    A childhood friend of the Afrobeats sensation, Fireboy DML, has taken to social media to reminisce about their past and celebrate the singer’s birthday.

    Identified as Bank Alat, the singer’s childhood friend fondly recalled their shared struggles, including drinking Garri together.

    However, he expressed that as a friend, he deserved support from Fireboy, especially considering the singer’s success with hits like “Peru.”

    Bank Alat lamented that since Fireboy rose to prominence, he felt abandoned, left to fend for himself while still grappling with difficulties.

    Nigerian music is perfect but unstructured – Fireboy DML 

    Singer, Adedamola Adefolahan, popularly known as Fireboy DML, said lack of structure hinders Nigerian artists from touring the country despite selling out arenas worldwide.

    He said Nigerian music is “perfect”, but there is no structure, which makes it difficult to tour the country.

    The singer spoke in a recent interview with Cool FM Nigeria, Lagos, hosted by Kayode Oladotun, popularly known as Do2dtun.

    Fireboy said: “Everyone is saying ‘Afrobeats to the world.’ The music is perfect. But there is no structure.

    “The foreign fans are listening to our music but when are they going to come to Lagos and watch us perform? When are we going to have arenas in Lagos where we can bring people from all around the world? You know, it will make everything just easier.”

    Asked if he thinks Nigerian fans can afford to pay for arena shows, he said: “Yeah, they will. We already are.

    “We just need to give people the incentive to pay. If you build a proper arena in Lagos, people would want to pay because they know that they are safe.”
