    FCMB, Dutch bank unveil N20m Agritech scheme for startups

    First City Monument Bank (FCMB) and Dutch Entrepreneurial Development Bank (FMO) have launched FCMB–FMO AgriTech Investment Readiness Programme.

    This initiative is to identify, support, and finance Nigeria’s most promising agritech startups and Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs).

    In collaboration with Heave Ventures, the programme enhances access to capital while fostering the scalability of innovative agritech businesses. It will feature a competitive grant prize pool of N20 million, awarded to ventures recognised as best positioned for investment. The programme will also include digital learning and fundability scoring through Zimara. This proprietary platform leverages alternative data and established readiness benchmarks to identify bankable ventures.

    Applications will remain accessible from August 8 to September 12. The top 20 startups will participate in a six-week readiness programme, culminating in a pitch presentation to funders in October.

    Divisional Head of Agribusiness and Non-Oil Exports at First City Monument Bank, Kudzai Gumunyu, said: “This programme is more than providing traditional funding; it is a commitment to nurturing and empowering agritech startups to contribute to the agribusiness landscape and unlock its full potential. It reflects our mission to drive inclusive and sustainable growth through African-rooted ecosystem that connects people, capital and markets. This initiative will prepare the startups for investment, enhancing their potential to contribute to the agritech landscape’’.

    Chief Executive Officer of Heave Ventures, Abiodun Lawal, noted:  “Scaling agribusiness innovation can revitalise value chains,  from production, processing to export,  creating jobs, boosting foreign exchange, and positioning Africa not merely as a consumer but a vital global food and agricultural technology supplier…’’

    First City Monument Bank (FCMB) is expanding its reach with a new branch at Sangotedo, in Lagos State. Local leaders expressed strong support and high hopes for the branch’s impact on the community’s  growth.

    Abiodun Ogunbo, Ogudu Oshadi I of Ogombo, represented by Chief Lukman Lawal, Aro of Ogombo, hails FCMB. He stressed the need for banking services for residents and businesses, lauding the bank’s support for individuals and enterprises.

    He hoped the new branch would create opportunities and boost economic activity.

    Olu of Sangotedo, Oba Mohammed Olufunmi, represented by Tunde Johnson, also praised the branch. He encouraged FCMB to deepen its presence in the community, citing rapid development in the area as a reason for the bank to expand its presence further.

    Chairman of Eti-Osa East LCDA, John Ogundare, stressed importance of FCMB’s new branch, saying “today is a significant milestone for Sangotedo and Eti-Osa.”

    He described the opening as a “testament to the growth and potential of our community,” expressing an eagerness for it to become a “pillar of support by impacting our economy and the lives of our people.”

    Ogundare urged the bank to support SMEs, recognising them as development catalysts crucial to local prosperity.

    Mrs. Yemisi Edun, managing director and chief executive officer, represented by Emmanuel Comla, national head of Sales, reaffirmed FCMB’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable banking. She said the bank will grow with the community, promising flexible financing, and committing to bringing more people into the formal economy.

    Comla highlighted Sangotedo’s strategic location, noting its proximity to major infrastructure, including Lekki–Epe corridor, Dangote Refinery, and Deep-Sea Port. He affirmed FCMB’s commitment to the community’s inclusive growth and sustainable development by connecting people, capital and markets.

    Ademola Idowu, group head of Operations and International Trade Services, noted the bank’s commitment to delivering excellent and sustainable services. He noted that the branch operates on renewable energy and is fully integrated into FCMB’s digital ecosystem.

    This includes offering mobile and internet banking, reliable ATMs, and an efficient queue management system. Furthermore, a solar-powered backup ensures uninterrupted operations and consistent service for customers.

    Bank empowering customers, to give out over N20 million at 10th ‘giveaway’ season

    First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has kicked off the 10th season of its “Millionaire Promo,” a campaign to reward and empower customers.

    During the promotion, 20 customers will win N1 million each, while hundreds more will receive cash, from N20,000 to N100,000. The promotion runs till September, with thousands expected to benefit.

    In the last season, 2,310 customers received cash and 14,780 consolation prizes, totalling 17,080. The promo is open to new and existing savings account holders, with draws nationwide to ensure widespread participation.

    Adetunji Lamidi, Divisional head of Personal Banking, noted Millionaire Promo’s role in deepening customer engagement and reinforcing the bank’s commitment to financial security. He said the promotion rewards and empowers customers to achieve their financial goals.

     “FCMB Millionaire Promo has become a way to reward customer loyalty and encourage savings. We are excited to see winners this season from cities and towns in Nigeria.”

    To qualify, customers must increase their account balance by N10,000 and maintain it for 30 days to enter the monthly and seasonal draws. Additional increments of N10,000 will boost a customer’s chances.

    Thompson Akinnodi, a past winner from Ondo State, said: “FCMB Millionaire Promo shows the bank keeps its promises.” Akinnodi used his cash to support his children’s education and holiday.

    Port Harcourt-based businessman, Onuoha Harol, described his win last year as a “fantastic Christmas gift.” He invested his prize in his block and real estate business. Similarly, Lagos resident, Omoye Oyakhire, used her prize to expand her poultry farm.

    Tanimu Suleiman, said: I never believed in this till FCMB called me about winning N1 million. The money will be invested in my business,” he said.

     encouraging others to bank with FCMB and adding that “the bank attends to customers’ needs very well.”
