  • Oliseh: I am still in charge of Fortuna Sittard

Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh still basking in the euphoria of his recent legal victory over Dutch division two club Fortuna Sittard, has declared that he is still in charge of the club at least till May 2018.

Oliseh who finally bared his mind on the implication of the judgment using his platform SundayOliseh.tv Wednesday, said his explanation became necessary because many have asked him the implication of the KNVB court of Arbitration decision in his favour.

In a 20 -paragraph report, Oliseh whose contract with the club originally runs till June 2019, revealed that the court did not find him to have acted as a bad employee; on the contrary it found Fortuna management guilty of not being good employers.

The implication he further said is not only that the club is compelled to pay him all his financial dues and compensation for his still running contract but further  implies that “By virtue of it annulling the suspension of Fortuna

Sittard on myself and asking me to continue till May, I am still officially the Chief Coach of Fortuna Sittard till May 2018!,” he submitted

The former Eagles captain whose last assignment as a coach was taking the home based Eagles to the 2016 Championship of

African Nations (CHAN) in Rwanda, stopped short of saying that his slogan “The winning culture” is at work when he added

“Accusations from Mr. Gun and his “Gang” were thrown out the window not only because they did not make sense but dated way back as over a year ago! Hence the now historic question of the Judge to Mr. Isitan Gun that is still yet unanswered” If the accusations you levy against Mr. Oliseh Sunday Is true, why then did you give him a new 2 years contract in may 2017 with better conditions?”How could you suspend a coach for crimes he supposedly committed in 2016/2017 season in February 2018?  When he is heading towards being crowned champion, having taking the club from 19th position in January 2017 to 1st position in January 2018?”

Oliseh is however not celebrating his success selfishly as he has continued to pray for his team to emerge champions and crown the efforts he started with success.

“For Obvious reasons I am praying that my players and the caretaker coaches in charge now finish the phenomenal work we started and make Fortuna Champions!”even as he highlighted the importance of having the fear of God in everyday dealings’ “One major lesson learnt, no matter what, it pays to be honest, hardworking, professional, hungry and above all God fearing, “he enthused

Fortuna Sittard who have continued to record impressive results take on Den Bosch on Friday. The club lead the 20-team log with 69 points in 35 matches.

Sittard: Sacked Oliseh too stubborn for comfort

After initial assurances given to former Super Eagles Coach Sunday Oliseh by his Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard that his position as head coach is not threatened, the club Wednesday formerly parted ways with the former Eagles Captain for what the club dubbed inevitable decision.

The club which has been on losing streak for some time now however said the Oliseh’s sack has nothing to do with his recent inability to win matches but his behavior and attitude towards management and staff including players which has become too tough to bear.  The club accused Oliseh of making the working relation within the club frosty, adding that efforts made by management to get Oliseh to repent fell on deaf ears.

In what could pass for keeping the record straight and speaking out of the abundant of the heart, the club via its verified twitter handle said

“Fortuna Sittard has immediately put its coach Sunday Oliseh on non-active. The club management makes this decision as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a longer period by the trainer towards several persons in the organization.

Several attempts by the club to move the trainer to other behavior remained unfortunately without result, resulting in an unworkable situation as a result.

The board of Fortuna Sittard emphasizes that the decision to sack Sunday Oliseh is not motivated by the current sporting performance. Because of his inadmissible actions, the coach has made the cooperation with many people within the organization impossible, from players, to employees. Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but states that the club interest goes above all else.

Oliseh joined Sittard on the 27th December 2016 shortly after leading Eagles to first round ouster in the 2016 edition of Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in Rwanda.

Fortuna Sittard have played and lost five matches back to back between 12th January and 12th February, even as they host Telstar without Oliseh on Friday.

Oliseh still in charge says Fortuna Sittard

Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard have poured cold water widely reported sacking of former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh.  The club on Tuesday took to the social media to debunk the story insisting that the former Eagles defender who was appointed to the position in late December 2016 is still in charge of the club.

“Today, various media reports appeared about the position of head coach, Sunday Oliseh. However, Fortuna Sittard denies the news about the dismissal of the head coach” the club said.

Oliseh who joined the Dutch side shortly after unimpressive outing with CHAN Eagles at the 2016 edition held in Rwanda, has since led Fortuna Sittard to their first silverware in 23 years. The promotion chasing side emerged as winners of the second period in the in the Eerste Divisie after finishing as league leaders at the end of Matchday 20.

But the side have not been in their super form in the new year with two victories in five matches.  Their 2-1 victory over Ajax II was followed by back to back defeats by Dordrecht and Emmen respectively.  The back to back defeat may have triggered off the sack speculation which the club has quickly dismissed as unfounded.

Fortuna Sittard who are third on the log in the 20-team Eerste Divisie with 44 points in 22 matches will take on 15th placed Volendam on Friday.
