    Uma Ukpai’s ministry healed me of asthma, pneumonia – Frank Edwards hails late preacher

    As the Christian community mourns the passing of one of its most revered evangelists, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, gospel singer Frank Edwards has shared a heartfelt tribute, recalling a miraculous healing he received through the late preacher’s ministry.

    In an emotional Instagram post, the “Under the Canopy” crooner revealed that he was healed of asthma and pneumonia at the age of eight during one of Rev. Ukpai’s crusades in Enugu.

    “At age 8, I got healed of asthma and pneumonia in one of your crusades in Enugu! Thank you for specially impacting the world! You finished well, papa. Rest on,” Edwards wrote.

    The award-winning gospel artist, who has often shared his testimony of overcoming chronic respiratory illness, described the encounter as a defining moment that liberated him from years of dependency on inhalers and allowed him to pursue his music career freely.

    The family of Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, founder and president of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association, confirmed his passing on Monday in a statement titled “Glorious Transition.”

    The 80-year-old evangelist, renowned for his fiery sermons, large-scale crusades, and emphasis on divine healing, died on October 6, leaving behind a legacy of faith, revival, and philanthropy anchored in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.

    His death has sparked an outpouring of tributes from believers, clergy, celebrities, and everyday Nigerians, who praised his lifelong devotion to spreading the gospel and empowering communities.

    Rev. Ukpai’s crusades, known for drawing massive crowds across Nigeria and beyond, were often marked by testimonies of miracles, deliverance, and salvation. His ministry’s non-denominational approach promoted unity within the Pentecostal movement, while institutions like the Uma Ukpai Polytechnic and his scholarship foundation continue to impact lives.

    As funeral arrangements are being finalized, his family has urged the public to reflect on Philippians 1:21: “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”

    Fans and fellow gospel artists have continued to celebrate his life and legacy, describing him as a faithful servant who “finished well.”

    Gospel singer Frank Edwards has recounted how his mother discouraged him closing a $320,000 deal that would have given a group control of his music catalogue. 

    He said his mother advised against the deal and even confiscating his international passport to prevent him from finalising it.

    At the time, Edwards said he didn’t understand his mother’s reasoning but he has since come to appreciate her discernment. 

    He mentioned how she had given him N150,000 naira to start a studio and the instincts proved correct.

    IEdwards expressed gratitude for his mother’s selfless love, guidance, and unwavering support. 

    He thanked her for being a source of wisdom and strength, always providing guidance and protection.

    Edwards wrote: “Thank you for everything, this space is not enough to write about you. Thank you for an impenetrable wall of fire! Thank for always telling me the mind of God about the things I’m doing, Non of your words fell to the ground because you truly hear from God ..

    “The very first time in my life years ago I was to close $320,000 deal from a group that wanted to almost own my entire catalogue.

    “You said NO ! And I quote you. “ The 150,000 naira gave you to start that studio is bigger than that money, just give it time . They are not of God”

    “Infact you took my international passport away from me Just to ensure I don’t travel to close that deal , and I was laughing because I didn’t need to travel to close it but then I listened to you !

    “After u said that I was thinking How is 150,000 Naira bigger than $320,000 .. BUT NOW I UNDERSTAND.

    “There is so much to say !! But like I said .. this space is not enough!! Happy Mother’s Day mum!!!”

    Edwards, on Facebook, emphasised that his financial capacity and business ventures enable him to support others.

    He cautioned fans not to drain their savings in an effort to help others, as they may not have the same financial stability or guidance.

    The singer specifically addressed those trying to start their lives, urging them to prioritise stability before attempting to support others.

DONT EMPTY YOUR SAVINGS. .

    Following the engagement of Moses Bliss to his Ghanaian fiancee, prominent gospel singer, Frank Edward, has questioned why he is being tagged on numerous dance videos on social media.

    The Nation reported that Moses Bliss met his British lawyer fiancee via Instagram.

    Moses Bliss last week announced the engagement to his fiancee, which took place in London, the United Kingdom, in a post via Instagram last Friday.

    In a social media post on Saturday, the ‘Daddy-wey-dey-pamper’ crooner said it is officially one year since he got to know his fiancee after someone tagged him in a video of her dancing to ‘Miracle No Dey Tire Jesus’.

    According to him, God had instructed the fiancee to make the video and post it online.

    Moses Bliss said he liked the video on her fiancee’s Instagram page, and they got talking afterwards.

    However, Frank Edward, who probably has been receiving tags on social media, cried out online, saying: “Please, why is everyone tagging me on dance videos!! I’m not doing any challenge.”

    Gospel act Jackson Oluwafemi Adiyan is set to go on a US and European tour.

    Adiyan who is popularly known by his stage name, Jackson Jones, is based in the South-South part of the country and has done music for over 20 years.

    With his energetic approach to music earning him the title of ‘Praise Marshal’, Jackson Jones is set to embark on a tour to the United States and some parts of Europe.

    He has shared the stage with top African acts like Sammie Okopso, Frank Edwards, Freke Umoh, Midnight Crew, Preye Odede and Mercy Chinwo.

    Jackson Jones who has African urban and traditional sounds in his songs, currently has an album in view.

    Nigerians took to Google search engine during the week to get more information on the ill-health of Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar and death of Don Meon, an American gospel singer, among others.

    Google’s Communications and Public Affairs Manager for Anglophone West Africa, Mr Taiwo Kola-Ogunlade made this known in Lagos on Thursday.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that trending search topics on Google Nigeria search in the week included Nollywood actress, Halima Abubakar and the death hoax of singer and evangelist, Don Moen.

    He said also trended on Google were issues on the rebranding of Etisalat Nigeria to 9mobile, the new season of Game of Thrones; Roger Federer and Beyonce’s twin babies.

    The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the one-week search on the search engine started is from July 14 to July 20.

    The Google Communications Manager said that according to the brother of the actress, Halima was suffering from surgical complications sustained from a fibroid surgery she had in India few months ago.

    He said that her brother, Isah Abubakar, revealed the state of his sister’s health on popular social network, Instagram.

    “People searched ‘halima abubakar health’, ‘halima abubakar sick’, ‘halima abubakar sickness’, ‘halima abubakar actress’ and ‘halima abubakar movies’,” he said.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that popular American musician and evangelist, Don Moen, on July 12 shared a post on Twitter to debunk rumours that went viral on social media about his death.

    He said that following the rumours, Moen’s son, Michael Moen told Nigerian gospel music artist, Frank Edwards that he would ask his father to post something on social media.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that the post was to enable people know ‎the truth about Moen’s state of health.

    He said that people took to Google and searched for ‘don moen dead’, ‘don moen dies’, ‘is don moen dead’ and ‘is don moen dead?’.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that another issue that trended on Google search was Etisalat Nigeria new identity.

    According to him, Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Limited (EMTS) announced on July 18, that Etisalat will now trade as 9mobile.

    The Communications Manager said that people searched for ‘9mobile nigeria’, ‘etisalat 9mobile’, ‘etisalat nigeria’ and ‘9mobile telecom’.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that another search that trended on Google was the premiere of the Season Seven of Game of Thrones season 7.

    He said that dubbed ”Dragonstone”, the Season Seven of Game of Thrones had a record-breaking debut, as the episode now stood as the most-watched premiere in Home Box Office’s (HBO’s) history.

    According to him, as reported by Deadline, the first episode pulled in a whopping 10.1 million viewers, eclipsing the 8.89 million viewers the Season 6 finale received, when it aired in June of 2016.

    “Fans across Nigeria googled ‘game of thrones season 7 episode 1’,” he said.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that internationally renowned Swiss tennis superstar, Roger Federer, clinched a record-breaking eighth Wimbledon win.

    He said that the win, which was in a straight set marked Federer’s 19th Grand Slam title.

    “Federer won his eighth title at the All England Club and 19th major trophy overall, capping a marvellous fortnight, in which he never dropped a set by overwhelming Marin Cilic 6-3, 6-1, 6-4 in a lopsided final.’’

    “People searched Google using terms ‘wimbledon’, ‘roger federer news’, ‘roger federer wimbledon win’ and ‘wimbledon 2017’,” the Communications Manager said.

    He said that international music superstar, Beyonce unveiled her new born twins to the world on July 14.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that Beyonce posted a glorious photograph of the twins on Instagram with a caption: ”Sir Carter and Rumi 1 month today”.

    He said that social media went abuzz, appreciating also how the ‘queen’ looked, a month after giving birth.

    Kola-Ogunlade said that people took to Google and searched ‘beyonce twins’, ‘jay z’ and ‘beyonce’.

    NAN reports that Google Trends launched in May, 2006, allows people to see popular searches and their demography have been overtime on Google.

    After two years of hard work, contemporary gospel artiste, Franks Edwards, is set to release his latest album, Frankincense, featuring musical greats like Don Moen.

    Announcing the release of the album, Mr. Anthony Chukwudi, the CEO of Honesty Music Entertainment said that the album which has 21 tracks will be launched on Monday, April 25, is all about Jesus and promoting the work of God.

    “It is a very wonderful album. I’ve marketed a lot of gospel albums but this particular one is a very special one. It is even more special because people from the outside world are beginning to take a liking to Nigerian music and there is a huge reflection of this in this album. I heard his music for the first time and it agreed with our vision,” he said.

    According to Chukwudi, the essence of a two year delay for the album is for it to meet the desired expectations.

    “The way we appreciate gospel music out here is huge. So Frank Edwards decided to bring the world together in this album. That was how Don Moen came in to feature in the album. Frankincense is one of the gifts given to Jesus when he was born. So in line with that, this album is something that is soothing to God. You will hear Don Moen speak Igbo language in this album,” he added.

    He added that the album is not about money, but about touching lives. “It is about giving back. If you look at this nation, you will realise that things are not working. Nigerians are in pains and this album is here to ease that pain. They should expect something that has never happened before. A lot of Nigerian Christians enjoy Frank Edwards’ music but there is more on the plate.”

    Describing Frankincense as a tool for reaching out, Frank Edwards said that it is his desire to use it to touch lives.

    “Music is a tool for me to reach out to my generation. Frankincense is more than an album. It is a gift to God. It goes from one worship song to another. We have ballad and reggae, and what I call afro-ballad and so many other genres in it. It is a beautiful piece of work. I’m excited. I can’t wait for you to hear it,” he said.
