    Actress Funmi Awelewa mourns passing of skitmaker Sanku

    Actress and producer Funmi Awelewa popularly known as Morili has expressed grief over the passing of Skitmaker Sanku.

    Funmi confirmed the death on her Instagram page on Tuesday, alongside the screenshot of an upcoming movie, ‘Lanlehin’ where Sanku featured.

    “When I saw the news online, I quickly sent one of my students who stays close to Bowen hospital, and he told me that he met one of your friends at the hospital who told us that you’re responding to treatment. I prayed to God, we prayed!!! Kilowa de bai Oloun. Haa Olorun oba oo” she said.

    The Nation had earlier reported that the skit maker, popularly known as Mrsankucomedy, had passed away in a car accident with a friend in the early hours of Monday.

    He was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

    “The pain, the effort, the strength, the struggle… Walai nothing makes sense. I’m heartbroken. Even film sef never come out! It does not make sense fr.” she lamented.

    Actress Funmi Awelewa has lambasted show promoter, Fathia Entertainments, for chasing clout with the late actor, Sisi Quadri’s name. 

    The Nation reported the show promoter claimed Sisi Quadri’s visa got approved shortly before he passed. 

    In a statement shared on Instagram, the company disclosed it would be postponing its upcoming event to mourn the late actor.

    However, Funmi, debunked the news in a post shared on her Instagram page, explaining that Sisi Quadri didn’t visit the US Embassy to apply for a visa or about to collect his visa.

    She warned the show promoter to stop lying and chasing clout with Sisi Quadri’s death while his family are still mourning the sudden death.

    She wrote: “The fact that I’m aiming towards building a scandal free name and I’ve been quiet for a little period doesn’t mean I’m a fool. Let’s respect the Dead and stop this b#llshit

    “@fathiaentertainments_showbiz You Dey shift event wey non of the applicants never enter embassy go face consular officer.

    “FYI: Sisi Quadri isn’t just my colleague but Blood from Iwo town. He is my family, my brother and my colleague. Don’t forget I’m also aware of everything. Chase your fvking clout with Sense Sir! RIP Egbon mi, Ifemi, Enikeji, Alabaro mi”.

    Actress Funmi Awelewa, popularly known as Morili, has broken her silence on the painful loss of her on-screen husband and close friend, Sisi Quadri.

    The deceased whose real name was Quadri Oyebamiji Tolani passed away on Friday, March 1, leaving the entertainment industry and fans in shock.

    Taking to her Instagram page, Funmi Awelewa shared a poignant video that featured cherished moments she had shared with Sisi Quadri on and off the screen.

    The video shows a collection of photographs capturing the essence of their roles as a mismatched yet beloved couple in various Nollywood productions.

    Expressing her grief, Funmi Awelewa wrote: “Osan ja orun di opa. Haa eyi por Eledua sanu mi.”

    Funmi Awelewa makes directorial debut with life story

    Delectable Nollywood actress, Funmi Awelewa aka ‘Morili Omo Ibadan’ has made her directorial debut with the story of her life.

    Awelewa has upped her game by stepping up from just an actress to a director.

    In a statement by Awelewa, she made her debut as a director with the new film entitled, ‘A Wish.’ 

    The movie was shot on location at Ibadan by her production company, Faab Entertainment. It was filmed at the actual places where she grew up and had her childhood.

    “It’s really an awesome experience, though very tasking for me to direct this movie because it’s a true life story, and it is the story of my life. It is one story very dear to my heart, hence my resolve to take the risk and direct it myself and I thank God it turned out just the way I wanted it. It’s a very wonderful production in all ramifications,” Awelewa said.

    The plot of the movie is based on her life experience. How she left home to pursue her acting career and unknowing to her that her mother is suffering from eye problems that eventually led to her blindness.

    Speaking on the movie, Awelewa stated that, “we often neglect our loved ones, especially parents in our quests for better life, and many times they have things and issues, especially health wise they go through but don’t have the opportunity to discuss it with their children since they rarely see them one on one.

    “I want to use this movie to correct that misdeed. No matter how busy we are, we should always create time for our parents, check on them, talk to them and always advise and assist them to check their health status as often as possible.”

    The film has been screening on her YouTube channel, FaabTV since Thursday, October  12, 2023, when she celebrated her 35th birthday.

    Funmi Awelewa was introduced into Nollywood by Sola Kosoko in 2013. She made her acting debut the same year when she appeared in the film ‘Wosi Kenke.’ She later got under the mentorship of veteran Nollywood actor, writer, and director Antar Laniyan.

    She is also a philanthropist and the founder of Funmi Awelewa Foundation, which is a non-governmental foundation that caters for the visually impaired. She is also an entrepreneur. She is the creator of Glow Envy beauty and skincare products.

    Awelewa’s FAAB Entertainment has produced several films including ‘Aromimawe,’ ‘Omo Ibadan,’ ‘Natasha,’ ‘Gbakoje,’ ‘Ebudola,’ ‘Morili Bilisi’ and ‘Ewon Ife.’
