    Binatone launches new garment steamer

Leading electronics manufacturer, Binatone Industries has stormed the Nigerian electronic market with a new garment steamer. The new product according to the Chairman of Binatone group, Mr Partap Lalvani, does not only remove creases from garments but also kills all forms of bacteria in clothes.

“Binatone has recently introduced the perfect Garment Steamer, the GS-1800. The steam not only removes the creases from garments, it kills all the known bacteria, and even adds new life to the garments, especially ladies’ delicate silks, and men’s woollen suits. Outside agencies often do not have clean surroundings and your garments can carry several germs not normally visible to the naked eye. Binatone now has the perfect answer.. “ he stated.

He disclosed that the new garment steamer is also perfect for steaming curtains, upholstery and other dirty greasy corners in the house. “The portable size of the Binatone Garment Steamer makes it perfect for steaming curtains, upholstery and even steam cleaning some dirty/greasy corners in the house. In fact, it can even be classified as a Multi-purpose Steamer.” he stressed

“Most householders have always found it difficult to Press/iron their full-length lounge dresses or men’s woollen suits, and have been forced to use outside agencies. Normal irons are a must for every home but these have some severe limitations, especially when it comes to large delicate garments.” He added

Explaining the how the garment steamer which was designed by a British Engineer, Mr. Robert Watkins, works like magic, Mr Lalvani stated, “In a matter of seconds, the water inside the Binatone Steamer’s generously sized tank turns to steam, and removes all creases from all types of clothes/garments whether small or large, and regardless of the any type of material, whether tough cotton, delicate silks or expensive woolens. Normal irons can burn some filaments of your garments, thereby reducing their life, but the Binatone garment steamer puts new life into your garments”

He pointed out that the complete set of the garment steamer includes a 1.35 litre water tank with a built-in, automatic sensor, which disconnects the power as soon as the water tank gets empty.

“The product comes with an adjustable and sturdy stand, a hanger and even a special glove to protect the user’s hand. It is also incredibly user-friendly, and something that every householder should own.” He added

Mr Lalvani disclosed that the new garment steamer is available at most leading stores like, Shoprite, Park-n-shop, GAME, Cash-n-Carry and Jumia.

  • Ayade: Calabar garment factory to generate 1,000 jobs

Cross River State Governor Ben Ayade said yesterday the Calabar garment factory will generate over 1,000 jobs when completed in August.

Ayade addressed representatives of the host communities at the project site on the Goodluck Jonathan bypass.

He said: “Upon completion, the Calabar garment factory is expected to generate about 1,000 jobs, the bulk of which would be women, particularly widows.”

Ayade said the inauguration of the factory was one of the projects he designed to celebrate his first 100 days in office.

The governor said the equipment for the factory had been procured, adding that the project would be a major employer of labour.

He said: “Apart from women, the factory will also provide jobs for the teeming unemployed youths roaming the streets.”

  • Firm clarifies ownership of Omoluabi Garment

The management of Sam and Sara Uniforms, a firm that specialises in making uniforms for schools and companies, has debunked rumours that its subsidiary, Omoluabi Garment, is owned by the Osun State governor’s wife, Mrs. Sherifat Aregbesola.

The company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mrs. Folake Oyemade, described the rumour as “malicious falsehood capable of misinforming the public”.

Speaking with reporters yesterday in Lagos, she said Sam and Sara Uniforms bided for the contract to provide uniforms for Osun pupils and won it.”

Mrs Oyemade said her company was the most capable among the bidders, with the biggest factory and the lowest prices.

She said: “After winning the contract, the government insisted that the company set up a factory in the state, so as to make indigenes the sole beneficiaries of the project.

“We had to approach the Bank of Industry (BoI) to borrow money. The loan was collaterised by my own property. These are verifiable facts. So all these lies that Omoluabi Garment belongs to the governor’s wife is falsehood.

“Will I borrow so much money on behalf of the governor’s wife? Will I also put my personal property on the line for the governor’s wife or anybody for that matter? The Bank of Industry is there to prove me wrong if I lie. We built the factory. The input of the state government was only to give us land.”

On how they came about the name “Omoluabi”, Mrs Oyemade said: “The name came up because they gave us land. That is the only state equity in the business. Through this project, the government has empowered a lot of women who sell our uniform on retail, and youths who work in our factory. When we won the bid, we brought about 500 youths to our factory in Lagos for training. We got expatriates from China to train them on how to use modern equipment for garment making. The training cost us enormous money and the BoI had to give us a special fund for it. At present, our factory has provided jobs for about 3,000 Osun youths.

“Must we suffer because some people are desperate to seize power in the state? We urge politicians to leave Sam and Sara and Omoluabi Garment out of Osun politics. We built this company from the scratch for over 20 years through the help of God. I have created jobs for more than 3,000 youths on the street. I am pained by this lies. If anybody is in doubt, such person should ask us for further clarification. And if the peddlers of this rumour are the types that aspire to leadership positions in Nigeria, then I am sorry for this nation.”

    Aregbesola inaugurates garment factory

    •3000 jobs in Osun

Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola has said his administration will continue to provide infrastructure and security for businesses to thrive.

Aregbesola spoke on Monday in Osogbo, the state capital, while inaugurating the Omoluabi Garment Factory.

He said the factory is a testimony of his administration’s investment drive, adding that the state has the required market as well as the human and material resources.

Aregbesola said Osun pupils were given uniforms to give them a common identity and purpose, as well as a sense of unity and pride, which “had been lost to the decay in public schools” before the inception of his administration.

He said: “Through this alone, we provided job opportunities for our market women, who supplied the materials for the uniforms, and about 3,000 tailors.

“This factory will, henceforth, produce the school uniforms. It will employ our people, buy its input here and the batik it will produce will be sewn by our tailors.

“All of these, among other gains, will have numerous spin offs that will rebound to the advantage of the people. The uniform material will be sold and sewn at controlled prices to make it affordable for our people. You are not only assured of quality; you will get it at good prices.”

The governor said the factory is one of those established through the revitalisation of the education sector.

He said another factory will soon begin the production of the e-learning tablet, Opon-Imo, and other electronic gadgets in Ilesha.

Aregbesola urged the managers of the factory to be innovative and “uncompromisingly committed” to quality, saying: “This might appear to be a small beginning, but what I am seeing is the onset of a giant clothing industry that will take the nation and West Africa by storm in the future.”

He said his administration was focused on the implementation of policies that “would improve the lives of the people”.

The General Manager, Operations, Bank of Industry (BoI), Mr. Joseph Babatunde, hailed Aregbesola’s “visionary leadership”.

He said his bank provides financial support for the training of fashion designers, whose products would be consumed locally and abroad.

Babatunde called for a review of the agreement between the government and the bank to accommodate more trainees.

The factory’s Managing Director, Mrs. Folake Oyemade, said by the end of the year, over 3,000 tailors would have been trained.

She said: “Today’s ceremony is a demonstration of one of the governor’s campaign promises. He promised to make Osun an industrial haven, where youths, as leaders of tomorrow, would be catered for through skill acquisition, job creation, poverty alleviation and wealth creation. This is just the beginning of better things to come.”
