Former Labour Party gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, yesterday launched a new mobile application aimed at providing economic opportunities and policy information to Lagos residents.

The launch coincided with the second anniversary of the 2023  governorship election.

The app, simply called “Our Lagos,” offers users access to grants, skill development programs, job opportunities, and information about Rhodes-Vivour’s policy proposals for Lagos State.

Rhodes-Vivour described the initiative as “a practical tool to empower the people who believe in a better Lagos.”

“This is not about politics as usual,” Rhodes-Vivour told the gathering of supporters and media.

“It’s about demonstrating a different approach to leadership – one centered on service, accountability, and genuinely improving lives.”

Additionally, Rhodes Vivour stated that “these grants aren’t handouts – they’re investments in your potential, in your dreams, and in our collective future.”

The app also includes a section dedicated to policy discussions, where users can access detailed information about Rhodes-Vivour’s vision for Lagos State across sectors including infrastructure, healthcare, education, and economic development.

    Lagos-Calabar highway: ‘Keep original plan’

Labour Party 2023 governorship candidate in Lagos State, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has appealed to the Federal Government to stick to the original plan of 1.5 kilometres of 700 kilometres of Lagos-Calabar Coastal road project.

This plea is coming on the heel of possible demolition of 1.5 km Landmark Beach to pave the way for construction of the highway as over 20, 000 jobs will be lost, and tourism affected.

Rhodes-Vivour spoke to journalists, saying maintaining the original plan would preserve businesses, ecosystem and land that belonged to the people.

He noted the beach was set up in 2007 and has generated so much revenue besides about 4,000 direct and 20,000 indirect jobs and a place where families enjoy leisurely activities.

Rhodes-Vivour wondered why so many jobs have to be sacrificed in an economy going through lots of challenges.

“Why would a road supposed to ease lives for Lagosians create so much detriment to them”, he said.

“Government must put businesses first. Demolishing the beach where millions of dollars of international direct investment is coming is not economic sense. Investors will see that their property rights are not safe…” he said
