    Gbemiro Daniel joins Recording Academy

    Music executive Daniel Gbemiro has joined the Recording Academy, the outfit responsible for the organisation of the revered Grammy Awards.

    Gbemiro, who has made a name for himself in the music industry, took to social media to share his excitement about joining this year’s New Member Class of The Recording Academy.

     “Thrilled to be part of this year’s The Recording Academy New Member Class and join countless creators and professionals who serve, celebrate, and advocate for music year round,” Gbemiro wrote in his announcement.

    “As a member, I’ll be looking forward to making a difference for my peers, the music community and the journey of African music and beyond.     Gbemiro’s membership will further strengthen the Academy’s ties to the African music scene, bringing fresh perspectives and fostering cross-cultural collaborations.

    How perseverance influenced my career, says Gbemiro

    Music executive, Gbemiro Daniel Owolabi has revealed that his background in business management plays a major role in executing his job as a label manager.

    Gbemiro, one of the top music executives in West Africa, who has managed the portfolios of Davido, Wizkid, Beyonce, Travis Scott, Libianca among others, noted that his gradual success in the industry didn’t happen overnight while emphasising on the importance of perseverance.

    “Prior to becoming a label manager at Sony Music Entertainment West Africa, I honed my skills at PwC in both audit and assurance, as well as advisory services departments, gaining invaluable insights into corporate operations and financial management,” he said in a chat with The Nation.

    “My transition from the corporate world to the music industry was driven by my passion for music and my desire to work more closely with artists and creative projects. While my corporate background provided me with a strong foundation in business management and strategy, I found the opportunity to merge my expertise with my passion in the music industry, allowing me to bring a unique perspective and skill set to the role of a music executive.”

    Speaking on his journey as a project manager so far, Gbemiro pointed at adaptability and strategic thinking as some of his key attributes.

    “My journey as a project manager has been marked by adaptability, strategic thinking, and a strong focus on collaboration. I’ve found that effective communication, meticulous planning, and the ability to anticipate and mitigate risks are essential for successful project execution. Additionally, my background in both corporate finance and the music industry has provided me with a diverse toolkit that allows me to navigate various challenges and opportunities.”
