    Monarch empowers youths, gives pupils free GCE forms

    Olori-Odo of Ijora and Iganmu, Alhaji Rilwan Yekin, has donated General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to pupils in Lagos State.

    Beneficiaries were from Apapa, Apapa-Iganmu, Coker-Aguda, Itire-Ikate and Ajeromi-Ifelodun.

    Yekin said the gesture was his commitment to scaling youths.

    He said the initiative opened opportunities for young ones to learn further and help society.

    “I remain committed to prioritising development and aspirations of the young. Education is key for a brighter future,” he said.

    The event was facilitated by Royal Circle Connect platform, led by its editor, Tairu Olaitan.

    Olaitan hailed Yekin for his dedication to youth growth, stressing that his impact extended beyond donation of GCE forms.

    He added that the Olori-Odo’s efforts have consistently promoted access to education, mentorship and positive societal engagement, describing him as a leader who invests in the future of both the kingdom and the nation.

    The ceremony was attended by youth leaders and stakeholders, including the Lagos Central Youth Parliament Senatorial Leader, Hon. (Barr.) Thelmah Obadiah, and the Vice Chairman of NYCN, Comrade Hameed.

    I did menial jobs to buy GCE form, says C57 Secretary

    The Chairman of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area, Razaq Olusola Ajala, has said that he engaged in menial jobs to sponsor his education.

    He spoke during the distribution of 250 GCE forms to students.

    The beneficiaries were selected through written exams from thousands of people that applied.

    According to Ajala, students hardly come by such gesture in his youth days.

    “Things are getting better and you here should thank God for this gesture. During our time, we know what we went through to get money to buy GCE forms. I, in particular, had to do menial jobs for me to get money to purchase the form then,” he said.

    While congratulating the beneficiaries, the council boss enjoined them to face their studies, work hard and avoid distractions.

    These, he said, would make them record success in their exams.

     “You’ve to avoid distractions of all forms especially from the social media. You’ve to be focused and be determined. Hard work and diligence are prerequisites for success,” he said.

    The Conference 57 Secretary encouraged the students to put in their best during the exam proper, noting that the success of previous beneficiaries has encouraged the council not only to sustain the project but also to increase number of beneficiaries from time to time.

    Ajala expressed appreciation to the teachers for creating time to set the exam questions, supervise and mark the scripts.

     “By initiating the examination process, we were able to remove political interference. Interested candidates are expected to apply and sit for the examination. The questions were put together by the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), and they marked the scripts. The process is transparent hence the issue of political interference is completely eliminated. I appreciate the teachers for your dedication and commitment in ensuring the success of this exercise,” he said.

    The Chairman of Parents’ Forum for Education District 6, Aliu Adeyemo, hailed Ajala for ensuring transparency in the selection process.

    Aliu urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity so that others will benefit in future.

    Eti-Osa East gives GCE forms, cash to students

    Chairman of Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), John Campos, has given out 100 free GCE forms and scholarship awards to students.

    This gesture, he said, is an opportunity to assist them in furthering their educational pursuit and encouraging them to do better.

    According to Campos, N50,000 each was given to 50 students in tertiary institutions as bursary, and an award of scholarship of N250,000 each would be given to 10 outstanding students with excellent grades in both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. 100 GCE forms were also given out to children in the terminal year of high school.

    He noted that his administration is a strong believer that quality education should be available to everyone, regardless of their social status or background.

    “Everyone deserves to have access to education, but performing excellently is a responsibility you owe yourself bearing in mind that every effort on your part  goes a long way in making your dream a reality”, he noted.

    He added that the gesture is a testament to the hard work they have put in, together with the support of their parents and teachers who are guiding them on their learning part.

    “Today, we will be awarding  bursaries, giving scholarships and distributing GCE forms to deserving students who are part of this great community the home of hospitality. Selecting these deserving students is an opportunity to assist them in furthering their educational pursuit and encouraging them to do better,” he said.

    He urged beneficiaries to prudently manage the money given to them, as the administration is investing in them to become agents of change in Eti-Osa LCDA and the world at large in the near future.

  • Council distributes free GCE forms

    Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area has distributed free General Certificate Examination (GCE) forms to some pupils.

    The council Chairman, Rafiu Olufunmi, said the gesture was parts of his electoral promises.

    As a responsive government, Olufunmi said, the future of the youth is paramount to development of the council.

    This, he said, motivated the council to distribute forms.

    He urged the pupils to be dedicated and work hard to make the council proud.

    Olufunmi said the council had earlier distributed free Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) exams forms and renovated schools at the resettlement Area.

    “This is one of our laudable programmes to reduce the burden on the parents,” he said.

    The beneficiaries promised to make the council proud with good grades.

  • 250 pupils get GCE forms

    No fewer than 250 indigent pupils have received free General Certificate of Education (GCE) forms, courtesy of Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area (LCDA).

    The council Chairman, Rasaq Ajala, during the distribution of the forms at the council secretariat, said the gesture was to encourage the pupils to further their education.

    This, he said, would set the path of the society on greatness by stimulating the interest of the pupils in qualitative education and positive engagement of their energy.

    He said it was not the first time pupils would be given free GCE forms, noting that it is a way to complement the job Governor Akinwunmi Ambode towards education.

    “This gesture heralds the commencement of another attainment. The aim of the forms given out today is to directly impact the lives of the young ones. Those we have given forms to in the past have gained admission into tertiary institutions and they have encouraging performances. This administration is working on the restoration of confidence in public schools which will stimulate interest of our youths in education,” he said.

     

     

     

     

  • Council boss, Lagos lawmaker donate 520 GCE forms

    In a bid to enhance educational development in Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, two notable politicians have given out five hundred and twenty GCE forms to indigent students.

    The program was organized by the executive chairman of the council, Hon. Oladele Oshinowo and member representing Kosofe Constituency 2 in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Tunde Braimoh.

    Speaking at the event held at the council auditorium, the chairman described ‘Education as the most important asset to build any nation for greatness’.

    Hon Abiodun Akhigbe who represented the lawmaker said : ” For any nation to be developed and be regarded as a first world country, she must have invested her resources in the educational sector to build minds that will catapult her nation to greatness”

    He added: “Our administration won’t rest its oars by giving utmost attention to education, we have embarked on this journey to sow a seed with the leaders of tomorrow. God willing, at end, we would have buried youth restiveness for greatness ”

    Also, the chairman , Hon Oshinowo leverage on the program to advice the students on how  to remain focus, urging them to shun social vices.

    “To the students being opportune to have this form,I plead with you to remain focus and shun any form of social vices. For any individual to be great, he or she must pass through the journey of pain to achieve gain. Please I implore my lovely children seated here to see today’s program as a point of contact for success, as such, you all must use this form to make your Ordinary Level results .”

  • Council boss distributes free GCE forms to indigent students

    The Sole Administrator of Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State, Prince Surakat Idogun-Babatunde, has distributed 30 free General Certificate in Education(GCE) forms to indigent students.

    At the ceremony held on Wednesday in the council secretariat, the council boss said ‘’the local government has concluded arrangement to  provide free exercise books to primary schools upon resumption for the 2016/2017 academic session.’’

    He also disclosed that the local government would soon carry out renovation of primary schools in Kayetoro and Magbon Alade among other parts of the council areas.

    He added: ’’I also want to assure you of the commitment of this administration towards improving the educational standard of our children.

    ‘’We are committed to helping our children and wards attain the highest academic pursuit in life and it is of essence to take drastic measure and steps now.’’

    Oyo lawmaker gives free GCE forms

    A member representing the Ibadan South East/North East Federal Constituency, Adedapo Lam Adesina, has distributed 40 General Certificate Examination’s (GCE) forms to the less-privileged pupils in his constituency.

    He said the forms would enable the pupils to participate in this year’s November/December General Certificate Examination GCE.

    The gesture, which costs N9,000 each, came under the lawmaker’s Omo-Oloore Education Development Scheme.

    Adesina, at the presentation in his constituency office in Ile-Titun, Oke-Odo, yesterday said it was done in fulfillment of part of the promises he made to the constituents during the 2015 elections.

    The lawmaker said: “I made a lot of pledges during the electioneering campaign in the last election, and I am here to fulfill it today. I promised to take this constituency to a level that will be of envy to others.

    “I believe that the distribution of these forms will encourage and assist some of the students, who have lost hope of writing the examination this year. Our children’s education is very essential because the children are our own tomorrow and they will be the ones to stand by us when we can no longer struggle again.”

  • Lagos Council donates 100 GCE forms to indigent pupils

    The Executive Secretary of Apapa Iganmu, local council development Area, Mrs Oluwafunmilayo Akande-Muhammed,  has given out 100 forms for the West African School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) examinations to indigent students in the area.

    Presenting the forms at the council secretariat, Muhammed said her administration is aware of the fact that education remains a veritable tool for the social, economic and political development of the nation.

    She implored youths to ‘focus on future gains in education,’ noting that “an educated person has the key to the future.”

    She said: “At a point in the history of educational in this community, more students began to show disinterest in education just because they could not concentrate due to the bad orientation which was inculcated into their minds by some youth that had no future ambition.”

    “On the other hand, some youths decided to work in order to support their struggling parents but this should not be as education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”, she added.

    She said education is not preparation for life but life itself, saying her administration is offering the youths one of the life tickets through provision of the forms.

    The executive secretary urged the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by embracing hard work and passing their examination in flying colours.

    She said since her administration came into existence, “we have been able to make some impact in the educational sector like procurement of new desks and benches to some public schools under the lcda jurisdiction, rehabilitation of the roofing at Sari Iganmu primary school and construction of the school fence at Orile primary school to mention a few.”

    She said to show the seriousness of the council officials to lift the educational standards of the youths in the area and see the beneficiaries pass the G.C.E, free coaching classes is being held for the youths.

    She said the youth should desist from any examination related vices that could tarnish their image in the society and that of the council.
