    AMIDST excitement and a display of rare talent, the seventh season of God’s Children Great Talent (GCGT) hit TV screens last Sunday.

    Hosted by Olive Emodi, the premiere showcased talents between the ages of five and 20 in music, comedy, dance and spoken word.

    The pilot episode featured highlights of auditions from three regions with the first stop in Abuja.

    Master Onyechukwu, a spoken word artiste, who got a blue congratulatory card, is hopeful about winning this year’s grand prize after wowing the city scouts with his oratory skills.

    In Port Harcourt, the GCGT auditions also recorded an impressive turnout of contestants.

    19 years old Esther, who came all the way from Delta State, blew the scouts away with her fruity voice as she sang “Great is Thy Faithfulness” by Chris Rice. Esther said she is confident and knows what it takes because God has given her a talent that she must not bury.

    One of the highlights of Port Harcourt audition was the discovery of multi-talented artiste, Immaculate Benibo who dances, sings and raps.

    The GCGT audition then berthed in Lagos, which is regarded as Nigeria’s entertainment hub, recording the highest number of contestants.

    The struggle among spoken word artistes at the audition was real, but only a small number were able to delight the Lagos scouts.

    A dance group called “Jesus freak” impressed the scouts greatly when they infused dance with playing the violin.

    19-year-old Joshua brought a different flavour to the competition with his beat boxing skills. Joshua believes his talent is very unique, especially in Nigeria. He definitely left audience in awe with his performance, which got him a blue card from the scouts.

    GCGT 7 which premiered last Sunday offered viewers an entertaining experience.

    The next episode, according to the producers, will be focused on the regional finals.

    Organisers of the God’s Children’s Got Talent show have announced that the regional auditions will start airing from May 6 on Hip TV, OH TV, Dove TV and Ebony Life TV.

    Individuals with various talents from the Lagos region stormed the Ultima Studios in Lekki to showcase their innate gifts before the scouts, with hopes for a chance to be selected into the regional competition and become winner of GCGT season 7 during the finals in June.

    The incredible level of talent displayed by the contestants showed resounding dedication, passion and true commitment, as the regional GCGT scouts were held spell bound.  To advance into the regional finals, all three-talent scouts per audition room had give to give a ‘yes vote’ to the auditioning contestant. Only exceptional contestants found agreement in unison from the talent scouts.

    Acro-dancers; Kehinde Olawonuola and Rachael Whyte, Violinist; Balogun Emmanuel, Drummer Boy; Oribi Ibiski as well as Pianist, Munachi Mso were among numerous talents who impressed the scouts and got the nods to proceed in the next round of the  Lagos regional competition.

    Vocal expert, Ben Ogbeiwi also known as Uncle Ben while commenting about the Lagos auditions said: “I’m impressed by the amount of contestants who have come from far and wide to audition in Lagos. Anyone who knows me already has an idea that I look out for the best talents. I don’t condone mediocrity especially where talents are concerned. The best have been selected and I wish all contestants good luck as they progress in the main competition.”

    On-Air-Personality, Gloria Maduka also applauded the talents as she expressed that, “The talents here are just too much. They have shown a lot of passion and displayed a high level of expertise. They have literarily wowed me at this regional auditions and I can confidently say it is bringing the GCGT auditions to a great end.”

    The train of judges of Great Talent God’s Children season 7 (GCGT7), officially stopped in Port Harcourt, on April 21, 2017, to meet contestants who reportedly hit the Hotel Presidential, Aba Road, as early as 7am.

    The audition had youngsters between ages 5 – 20 years showcasing their talents in music, comedy, dance and spoken word during the preliminary selection.

    Port Harcourt’s finest entertainment and media personalities – Duncan Mighty, gospel artiste Preye Odede, radio presenter, Eldee Xtra Large, gospel singers, Preye Omayuku, Afy Douglas, singer and choreographer, Bobby Blankson, Season 2 winner of Nigerian Idol, Mercy Chinwe and popular comedian, K.O Baba were on ground to spot out another set of great talents amidst contestants who showed up for the auditions.

    11-year-old Nengi Jaja wowed the Port Harcourt judges with his amazing voice and his performance, which made Duncan Mighty and other scouts to request for a photo session. The incident earned him the nickname ‘moniker’, by Duncan Mighty.

    Participants who missed audition opportunity in Port Harcourt, as stated by the organisers can still register for the Lagos auditions by walking into the venue on April 28 and 29, 2017 at Ultima Studios, Lekki, Lagos.

    God’s Children Great talent (GCGT), Africa’s biggest youth talent competition, is an initiative by City of David Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God that identifies and celebrates talents in children and young adults from age five to 20 years.

    One of Africa’s biggest youth talent competition, God’s Children Great Talent (GCGT), is set to hold its season 7.
    An initiative of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), GCGT which identifies and celebrates talents in children from 5 to 20 years of age, began in 2011.
    According to the organisers, the vision of the team is to build a global brand using children’s talents for god’s glory and provide a credible platform for expression and a celebration of talent in youth.
    In partnership with The HOW Foundation, the winner will be going home with a N250million management deal, N10million monetary prize and a brand new car. The audition train which is billed to hold in three cities – Abuja, Port-Harcourt and Lagos – will have its grand finale at the Eko Hotel, Victoria, Lagos
