Muhydeen Okunlola Kayode is the Principal Partner of Luxiar Construction Limited, a real estate company based in Abuja, and the founder of the MOK Foundation.
He is a self-made entrepreneur who achieved success through hard work and determination. In his interview with Samson Oti, he describes how he rose from humble beginnings to become a successful entrepreneur.
The MOK Foundation was established with the primary objective of enhancing the quality of life through a comprehensive range of initiatives, including entrepreneurship, educational support, financial healthcare support, monetary assistance, and community services.
“Our multi-faceted approach is designed to provide individuals with the necessary tools and resources to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being. Through our various programs and services, we empower individuals to take control of their lives and overcome the challenges they face,” Kayode said.
Perhaps his success today can be attributed to his upbringing in Kwara State where he had opportunities to witness the lives of underprivileged and aims to improve it while inspiring others to support this worthy cause. “I was born and raised in Offa, where I attended school up to the tertiary level. This has enabled me to easily relate to those in rural areas and those at the fringes of civilization. Our Foundation was established because there is so much work to be done to uplift and support these underprivileged communities across Nigeria”.
He added: “We are concerned with impact, dedication to making a difference at the grassroots level. Raising funds has primarily been through personal contributions, driven by strong belief in giving back to the less privileged. While we have been operating quietly, we are open to exploring various avenues for fundraising in the future, such as partnerships with like-minded individuals or organizations, organizing fundraising events, and seeking grants from philanthropic sources. Our focus is making a meaningful difference in the lives of those we aim to support especially in the rural communities.
“Our foundation has deployed more than 100 streetlights in Offa and its surrounding areas. We have also equipped the vigilante group with motorcycles and provided essential security materials to ensure the safety of the community”.
Additionally, he has supported the Offa football club in the national professional league and sponsored students in the Offa Student Union Annual Summer School Program. “We have also empowered farmers to increase agricultural output and distributed food items and cash to 20,000 men and women. Furthermore, there was collaboration with three healthcare centers in Offa to improve healthcare accessibility for the less privileged”.

These initiatives reflect the Foundation’s dedication to fostering positive change and sustainable development in the region.
To whom much is giving, much is expected; the foundation’s initiatives have been met with overwhelmingly positive responses from the recipients and receiving communities.
“These projects have not only made a tangible impact on the lives of individuals and communities, but have also fostered goodwill and appreciation towards the foundation. The foundation’s philanthropic efforts have been truly effective in making a difference and creating a positive change in the world.
Kayode confessed that managing a real estate company and a foundation concurrently can be a challenging endeavor.
“I have been able to achieve this feat, thanks to my proficient and dedicated team, and the unwavering support of my loving and caring family throughout the journey. To ensure that both entities run seamlessly, my team and I have implemented a meticulous approach that prioritizes efficiency, transparency, and accountability. Despite the complexity of managing both a company and a foundation, I remain steadfast in my commitment to providing the highest level of service to all stakeholders involved.
As an individual who has deeply invested in philanthropy and business, you wonder if is thinking of a political career in the future.
“My current priorities lie in the realm of philanthropy and business; I recognize the potential of effective governance to create positive change,” Kayode stated emphatically.
The real estate expert also uses the opportunity to advice President Bola Tinubu led administration to revive the economy and alleviate current hardship in the country.
“The government should prioritize infrastructure development, job creation, and support for small and medium-sized enterprises. Fiscal responsibility, transparency, and efficient service delivery are essential for sustainable economic growth and social development of any nation.”
