The Institute of Information Management (IIM) Africa has announced that its 2025 Global Convention, Induction, Investiture, and Awards will take place from May 12 to 17 at the University of Lagos, Akoka.
This year’s event, themed “Empowering Data Governance and Cybersecurity for Nigeria’s Digital Future,” will bring together key players from the public and private sectors to address Nigeria’s digital transformation challenges.
The six-day convention will include keynote speeches by global experts, panel discussions, workshops, induction and award ceremonies, exhibitions, and networking opportunities.
It aims to create awareness about data protection, cybersecurity, and digital ethics at a time when Nigeria is advancing rapidly into the digital age.
Speaking ahead of the event, the Founder and International President of IIM Africa, Amb. (Dr.) Oyedokun Ayodeji Oyewole emphasised the importance of strong data governance and cybersecurity systems.
“Our goal is to equip individuals and institutions with the knowledge, skills, and strategic direction necessary to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital landscape while maintaining trust, transparency, and compliance,” he said.

Dr. Oyewole noted that with the implementation of the Nigerian Data Protection Act (NDPA) and increased reliance on digital infrastructure, the event serves as a timely platform for government agencies, private firms, academia, and civil society to collaborate and build a safer digital environment for the country.
Some highlights of the convention include expert-led masterclasses on data privacy, AI ethics, and regulatory compliance
There would be a discourse session on bridging policy gaps and promoting digital trust, recognition of outstanding professionals through the 2025 IIM Awards, and the induction of new members and conferment of honorary titles
Organisers say the convention will inspire the next generation of data professionals while encouraging best practices in information management and digital security.
