“Our country’s situation is getting worse and insecurity is a major problem confronting us.

According to him: “ It is something to build a befitting edify and is another thing to go out and invite people, bring people to the church and also bring people to the kingdom of God.

  • GOFAMINT Chapel of Glory celebrates at 10

Members and well-wishers of Lagos District Headquarters of the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT) Chapel of Glory (COG) Lekki, Lagos were in jubilatory mood last week during the 10th anniversary of the church.

Giving insights into the foundation of the chapel, the District Pastor, Pastor Lasbrey Uba, said the vision of GOFAMINT’s general overseer, Dr. Elijah Abina, which birthed the church, had its thrust in elite evangelism, capturing the Upper Class for the Lord while inspiring hope in the middle classes of persons within Lekki and environs.

While commending the Regional Pastor, Dr John Udofia for taking the daunting assignment to start the church in 2008, Uba said Chapel of Glory has become a place of awesome worship where people are baptised with the love of God.

“It’s significant to state that Chapel of Grace grew in capacity and emerged with the leadership of the Lagos district with about 11 assemblies under supervision and all of whom are represented here today.

“It is has been our assignment and focus in the last two year to cause an exponential expansion in the church ranging from numerical growth to spiritual maturity, from academic excellence to financial strength and at the centre of all these lies our premium on aggressive evangelism, a core purpose of the mission, to preach, teach and live the word,” Uba stressed.

While giving an insight into the chapel’s history, Udofia stated that COG, which was then just an assembly started at the then Lekki Astoria Hotel before moving to Piccadilly Hotel.

“The church moved into its present location in December 2013 and the facility was officially commissioned in February 2014.

“I must say that much of the successes that the assembly had during the teething period rightly should be to Dr. Abina, who had the vision and committed a lot of support to ensuring actualisation of that vision.”

According to him, the church is shedding needless traditions for a more dynamic and practical approach to situations, adding every organisation is a dynamic entity and dynamism is critical to sustenance.

Resident pastor of COG, Kolade Adeleye, said the church has remained relevant in the divine agenda in Lekki and stand tall among the comity of churches in the area.

“We believe in sound and undiluted teaching of the word of God to enhance Christian maturity and position each member to represent Christ wherever they are,” he stated.

  • GOFAMINT in prayer rally for Nigeria

The General Overseer of The Gospel Faith mission International (GOFAMINT) Pastor (Dr) Elijah Abina will lead a prayer rally for an end to the socio-economic challenges facing the nation.

The rally, which takes off at the church’s International Headquarters at Km 40, Lagos/Ibadan Expressway, Aseese, will go through Ikeja with stops at some strategic points, including the Lagos State Governor’s Office, Alausa to offer prophetic prayers on behalf of the nation.

Abina will lead 55 other ministers from the church for the exercise.

The theme of the rally, which holds on October 1, is let God arise.

A statement by the General Secretary of the church, Pastor Femi Omowumi, said: “We have the strong conviction that when these fifty six men of God raise their voices to prophesy over the nation and affairs of Nigeria, our fortunes will change for good.

“The choice of the number 56 is symbolic, representing all the years of Nigeria nationhood.

“This is not a new thing as it has happened before in the Bible days when a prophet of God prophesied that by this time tomorrow, a measure of flour will be sold for a shekel.

“Though, there was a doubting Thomas there who never believed the prophecy, God still honored the prophetic pronouncement of his servant Elisha and there was surplus the following day.

“The rally is also to call on Nigerians to join in prayers for our present political leaders for God to guide them on how best to lead the nation out of the current challenges facing the country.

“As well, it would also be important to point out to all leaders at various levels to have the fear of God and recognize him by making him first as they steer the affairs of the nation.”

He added that necessary logistics arrangements have been made with relevant security and para-military agencies to have a hitch- free rally.

  • Buhari greets GOFAMINT at 60

President Muhammadu Buhari has felicitated with the General Overseer, the leadership and members of the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT) on its 60th anniversary.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, Buhari said:  “Sixty years is a significant milestone in the life of any individual or organisation.

“As the Gospel Faith Mission International turns 60, it is my pleasure to rejoice with the leadership, the teeming members and adherents of the Christian faith, who worship in the church.”

The President added: “Six decades of labour in the Lord’s vineyard must have produced innumerable fruits with great impact from now to eternity.

“I wish GOFAMINT many more successful decades of fruitful service to the nation.

“As you celebrate, accept my best wishes. And kindly tell your members that a new dawn beckons in the country.

“We see it ahead and we shall step into that land of unity and prosperity. God will take us there by His Grace.”

  • Why Nigeria must remain united, by Abina

The General Overseer of the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT), Pastor Elijah Abina, has advocated for a united Nigeria where there is no segregation or fear.

The preacher noted that a united Nigeria is the hope of the black nations.

Abina spoke during a visit to the Akowonjo Lagos headquarters of the church.

According to him: “It is when Nigeria is united that the country can lead in the comity of nations, especially in the black race.

“Once we are divided, that power is gone. Once we scatter, that opportunity is gone. Nigeria can never be the giant of Africa again.

“So I want Nigeria to be one but the type of oneness I want to see is the Nigeria where the Yoruba who go to the east sees himself as a Nigerian and establishes there.”

He added: “A Hausa man should be able to go to the West and live there happily. An Igbo man should go to the north and establish there.”

Abina cautioned Christians in politics against self aggrandisement, saying they should be selfless and courageous. “I believe that if politics is left to unbelievers what we will experience will be chaos and anarchy but if real Christians called by God go into politics, they will know that they are not there to amass wealth but to ameliorate the poor condition of the suffering masses,” he reasoned.

The preacher added that there is nothing wrong with religious leaders being close to political office holders as long as the motive is for national development.

His words: “Without God, political leaders cannot achieve anything meaningful for the people because God is the owner of the universe.

“When the leaders are far away from God, there is no way they can manage the affair of the people and be of help to the people.

“Daniel was close to King Nebuchadnezzar and if not for Daniel, Nebuchadnezzar would have perished.

“Elisha was also close to leaders in his time and other prophets like that. I believe our national leaders and politicians need true servants of God who will guide them in the management of the affairs of men.”

  • Abina marks 50 years in full-time ministry

    •As GOFAMINT commissions micro-finance bank

It was double celebrations for members and well-wishers of the Gospel Faith Mission International (GOFAMINT) last week.

The church commissioned Chronicles Micro-Finance Bank conceived to improve the financial status of members and stakeholders at its camp ground on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The commissioning took place on the same day the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Elijah Abina, celebrated his 50th anniversary in full-time ministry.

Abina said the bank is a dream come true, acknowledging the church has been nursing the idea for some time.

He expressed optimism that the bank will soon operate branches and empower the church financially.

The cleric called for the support of members to make the project a success by operating accounts with the institution.

The church’s senior accountant, Pastor (Dr) Johnnie Udofia, said the institution is affiliated to Zenith Bank and urged members not to consider Chronicles’ assets ‘national cake’ to be shared.

Abina attributed his 50th anniversary in full-time ministry to the grace of God.

He said the anniversary was not about him but God’s faithfulness, stressing he couldn’t have ministered for so long without Him.

He chronicled the numerous challenges he faced as a minister, saying he took faith to step out in faith 50 years ago when it was not fashionable to be a full-time pastor.

He advised up-coming ministers to depend on God, saying “if God could be so faithful to me, He can do the same to anybody who will be faithful and dedicated to Him.”
