Ijomoni, Adeleke, Oladipupo rule GOtv Boxing Night 34

The trio of Tobiloba “Smiling Assassin” Ijomoni, Sadiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke and Saddam “Baby Boxer” Oladipupo dominated fan conversations at GOtv Boxing Night 34Jams Festival, delivering stellar performances.

The event, held on Friday at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos, saw Adeleke and Oladipupo emerge as the national champions, while Ijomoni walked away with the biggest individual honour of the night.

In the headline bout, Adeleke dethroned defending champion, Durotimi “Tiny” Agboola, to claim the national super bantamweight title after a gruelling 10-round duel. The judges returned a majority decision in his favour, rewarding a performance built on steady pressure. The victory marked Adeleke’s first national title and capped a measured, mature showing on the biggest stage.

Earlier, Oladipupo announced himself as the new national lightweight champion, outclassing Imole “System” Oloyede by unanimous decision over 10 rounds. “Baby Boxer” dictated the pace of the bout and dominated exchanges to earn the points.

While the titles went to Adeleke and Oladipupo, the “Smiling Assassin” was named Best Boxer of the Night, receiving the Mojisola Ogunsanya Memorial Trophy and a ₦1 million cash prize after a commanding unanimous decision victory over Segun “Odi” Gbobaniyi in their eight-round national lightweight challenge contest.

The undercard delivered a run of emphatic finishes. Emmanuel “Ability” Abimbola halted the previously unbeaten Sodiq “Smart Lion” Suleiman in the fourth round of their light welterweight bout, while Toheeb “Full Tank” Hassan recorded a fifth-round technical knockout against Ezekiel “Touch” Seun in the super bantamweight division.

International spice came courtesy of Rasheed “ID Buster” Idowu, who stopped Ghana’s Nii Offei Dodoo in the fourth round of their eight-round catchweight clash.

Outside the ring, fans were treated to live music by Shoday and a comedy performance by Triclowns. The event was sponsored by GOtv, with support from MultiChoice, Renmoney, ZetaWeb, TheCable and the Lagos State Sports Commission.

GOtv Boxing Night 34:   Ghana’s Dodoo vows to ‘destroy’ ID Buster before Lagos fans

Ghanaian light-heavyweight contender, Nii Offei Dodoo, has hit back at Rasheed “ID Buster” Idowu ahead of their explosive showdown at GOtv Boxing Night 34, declaring that the Nigerian champion “will be shocked” when they meet on Boxing Day.

With the Nigeria–Ghana rivalry adding extra heat to the contest, Dodoo said he is arriving in Lagos with a clear mission: to end Idowu’s momentum and derail his growing status as a fan favourite. The Ghanaian, known for his durability, discipline and ability to absorb pressure, described the bout as “the perfect stage to humble a loud opponent.”

Responding to Idowu’s threats, Dodoo dismissed the champion’s confidence as misplaced.

“I’ve seen fighters like him before. Strong punchers who think power is everything,” Dodoo said. “But boxing is not a street fight. It’s strategy, timing, and patience. If ID Buster thinks he will overwhelm me, he is making a big mistake. I am coming to silence Lagos and show him what real ring intelligence looks like.”

Dodoo added that he believes Idowu has been “too comfortable” fighting at home. “He has the crowd, he has the noise, but none of that can help him when the bell rings,” he said. “I’ve trained for every scenario. I didn’t come to Nigeria to admire the city, I came to win.”

The highly anticipated Dodoo–Idowu clash is part of a stacked line-up for GOtv Boxing Night 34: Jams Festival, which will feature six thrilling bouts alongside live music and on-stage entertainment with artistes such as Shoday, in what organisers describe as one of December’s biggest sporting events.

GOtv Boxing Night 34 will air live on SS Africa 1 (GOtv Ch. 63, DStv Ch. 207). The event is sponsored by GOtv, with support from MultiChoice, ZetaWeb, TheCable and the Lagos State Sports Commission.

  • Saddam, System trade punches ahead of GOtv Boxing Night 34

Saddam, System trade punches ahead of GOtv Boxing Night 34

As anticipation builds for GOtv Boxing Night 34, rising lightweight star Saddam “Baby Boxer” Oladipupo has issued a fiery warning to opponent Imole “System” Oloyede, declaring that he will not last beyond the second round of their national title bout on 26 December at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos.

Speaking ahead of the blockbuster Christmas-season event, Saddam said he is coming in “sharper and meaner,” promising fans “a brutal lesson in disciplined boxing.”

But Oloyede, never one to shy away from a verbal exchange, fired back with a colourful comparison.

“I remember how Saddam Hussein was hiding when the US dealt with him. My opponent will be hiding in dark corners of Tafawa Balewa Square, like his namesake did, when I finish with him,” he retorted, boasting that he is a far superior boxer to anyone Saddam has ever faced.

Their showdown is tipped to be one of the standout bouts on a richly packed card that blends boxing, music and comedy into a festive spectacle. And the supporting fights are just as enticing.

Top among them is the national super bantamweight title bout between the skilful and flamboyant Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke and the compact, rugged, hard-hitting champion, Durotimi “Tiny” Agboola. With a national belt at stake, the clash promises pure fireworks.

Fans will also witness an international lightweight encounter pitting Nigeria’s Rasheed “ID Buster” Idowu against Ghana’s Nii Offei Dodoo, adding a spicy West African rivalry to the night.

Another crowd-puller is the national lightweight challenge between Segun “Odi” Gbobaniyi and the slippery, unpredictable Tobiloba “Smiling Assassin” Ijomoni, a bout analysts predict will be a tactical chess match with no shortage of danger.

The national light welterweight division also delivers a thriller, as Sodiq “Smart Lion” Suleimon squares up against Emmanuel “Ability” Abimbola over eight explosive rounds. Both fighters favour high-pressure, all-action styles, making this a strong contender for the night’s most relentless contest.

Rounding off the undercard is the national bantamweight challenge featuring Ezekiel “Touch” Seun against the iron-lunged Toheeb “Full Tank” Hassan, a matchup almost guaranteed to deliver eight rounds of blistering exchanges.

GOtv Boxing Night 34, organised by Flykite Productions, is supported by MultiChoice, Zetaweb, Lagos State Sports Commission and TheCable.
