Nnaji’s resignation: Onoh urges Gov Mbah to join APC

Following the resignation of the Minister for Innovation Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji, President Bola Tinubu’s former campaign spokesman in the south east, Denge Josef Onoh has asked Enugu Governor Peter Mbah to jettison the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and cross over to take leadership of the national ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.

Onoh extended gratitude to the former Minister for his dedicated service and contributions to the APC during his tenure, expressing confidence that Nnaji will continue to make positive impacts.

Turning his gaze to Governor Mbah, Onoh said that the road ahead for Enugu State now is for renewed unity and strategic leadership within the Enugu APC chapter.

He regretted that the APC in Enugu state has endured needless fractures and disarray since 2015, hindering collective progress and electoral triumphs.

“It is with this in mind that I urge His Excellency, Governor Peter Mbah, to seize the mantle of leading the APC in Enugu State and uniquely to heal these divides. I implore him to prioritize stability, foster reconciliation among stakeholders—from zonal executives to grassroots mobilizers and unify all ranks into a formidable force,” Onoh urged.

He stated that under Mbah’s guidance while ensuring to carry all stakeholders along, the APC can reclaim its stature as the true vehicle for Enugu’s renaissance, transcending past shadows to deliver inclusive growth and security for all.

“Rest assured that as we champion this unity, I pledge my full cooperation and that of my network, not limited to the full meaningful and patriotic support of Mr. President towards our paramount goal in ensuring President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s resounding victory in Enugu State come 2027,” he pledged.

Onoh said that with Governor Mbah at the helm of a cohesive APC in Enugu state, alongside the enduring legacies of former governors of the state such as Senator Chimaroke Nnamani, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi and Senator Ken Nnamani —who championed Tinubu’s 2023 campaign in the South East, they can surge forward as one, securing federal patronage, economic dividends, and a brighter tomorrow for the people of state.

“Let us collaborate unreservedly, for in unity lies our strength and triumph. I remain committed to this vision and look forward to our joint efforts ahead of 2027. As I welcome you to our great party in the coming hours.”

“At 65, our independence is a reminder of what we can achieve as a people when we are united. It is also a reminder that progress demands sacrifice, and that tomorrow is shaped by the choices we make today.

“The commemoration of our 65th independence anniversary may understandably be low-key, but the significance of the strides we have made as a nation is by no means underwhelming.

“From moribund assets roaring back to life, to Ndi Enugu enjoying a resounding sense of security of lives and property, our children transitioning to 260 Smart Green Schools, our rural communities accessing modern healthcare courtesy of our completed or ongoing 260 Type 2 Primary Healthcare Centres, Ndi Enugu commuting conveniently and affordably via our modern transport system and infrastructure, Enugu State is no doubt on the pathway to assured turnaround and exponential economic growth,” he added.

Demolition: I was misinformed, overwhelmed by emotion, influencer begs Gov Mbah

A social media influencer, Chibuike Gabriel Ugwu, popularly known as “Untouchable”, has apologised to the Governor Peter Mbah over his viral video at the weekend claiming that Enugu state government was executing a massive demolition of completed houses at the Enugu Lifestyle and Golf City, also known as Enugu Centenary City.

Sandwiched in the apology video by his two friends, who are also content creators, the “Untouchable Comedy” producer, said that he was misinformed and had also acted out of emotions.

In the short video, which he released on Sunday morning, he said: “Information reaching me this morning was like I was even the one, who did not understand what was going on at the Enugu Centenary City. They now explained to me what was happening and it is a very long matter. It is plenty, but I now know better.

“I wrongly accused the governor and I just want to beg him not to be angry. I was misinformed and I was also overwhelmed by fear and emotion. I thought about this property, being my only house, and I was propelled by emotions to do the first video.

“So, my people, this is a quick disclaimer to my earlier video. My governor, I beg you.”

Ugwu’s video vindicates the statement, on Saturday, by the Chairman, Enugu Capital Territory Development Authority, ECTDA, Hon. Uche Anya, disclaiming the video.

Contrary to Ugwu’s claim, Anya had explained that although the deadline given to property developers at the vast land located at Amechi Awkunanaw-Obeagu communities in October 2023 to relgularise their properties had since expired, ECTDA was yet to demolish any completed and or occupied property in order to allow developers elaborate time present their title documents and building approvals

He however, stressed the Authority would not succumb to what he described as blackmail” in its determination to stamp out the activities of illegal property developers and land grabbers and protect the rights and interests of investors.

“At ECTDA, we observe the rule of law. So, Capital Territory Development Authority is determined to frustrate every attempt to illegally grab land or encroach, an act which could jeopardise investors’ interest in the state or dissuade them entirely,” he stated.
