  • Grand Oak launches 9ja Café Rhum

    Grand Oak Limited, a leading marketer of alcoholic and non-alcoholic brands, has expanded its brand portfolio with the launch of 9ja Café Rhum into the Nigerian market.

    9ja Café Rhum is a Nigerian liquor made from 100 per cent handpicked coffee beans, sucrose and matured rum for Nigerians.

    The new product was unveiled at the just-concluded Lagos International Trade Fair at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.

    It was attended by key distributors across the country, as well as reporters, customers and other stakeholders.

    Grand Oak’s Managing Director Aare Fatai Odesile said the new product is of international standard and was approved by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) for meeting quality standards.

    He added: “This brand meets local and international standards. It is registered by NAFDAC and okayed by SON. We have gone through the processes to ensure we give Nigerians the trusted quality of Grand Oak Limited. It is a recommended brand for truly Nigerian people.”

    Odesile said the brand fuels the resilient spirit, the never-give-up, can-do attitude Nigerians are known for worldwide.

    The managing director said the brand name, 9ja Café Rhum, showed it is made for Nigerians.

    According to him, the campaign slogan: “indulge your passion rep 9ja”, as a campaign to promote the new brand is aim at promoting greatness among Nigerians, considering the potential and talents that the country boosts.

    Also, the group’s Executive Director Adekunle Rosiji said the production of 9ja Café Rhum came from in-depth research and consumer engagement that the company embarked on.

    The director noted that with the unique taste and coffee aroma, the brand was set to take over the leadership of the rum market in the country.

  • Grand Oak Limited shines at Foods & Drinks Festival

    Nigeria’s leading marketer of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, Grand Oak Limited, made a bold statement with the array of quality drinks it put on display at the two-day Lagos International Foods and Drinks Festival held at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, over the weekend.

    For Grand Oak Limited the event offered the opportunity to interface with connoisseurs of good quality alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, who thronged its pavilion in their numbers to savour the variety of drinks on display.

    Mrs. Nike Lawrence, Brand Manager, St. Lauren, and her crew present at the pavilion had a hectic time attending to the numerous lovers of their brands who came to sample the various drinks on display.

    The Brand Manager said the huge number of visitors to Grand Oak’s pavilion spoke volumes about the products of the company and the quality it offers to consumers, adding that with time the company has improved on quality and is now offering world-class products.

    “The feedback we have on ground indicates that our offering has taken our products to the next level.  An expatriate, who came here to sample our drinks, affirmed that they are world-class products. The assortment of drinks from our stable is an incentive to our consumers to make the right choices,” Lawrence said.

    Echoing similar sentiment, Mr. Steven Ike, the Festival Director, while speaking generally on the event, said that Grand Oak Limited enlivened the place with its activities which attracted a big crowd.

    Ike affirmed that the array of drinks from the stable of Grand Oak Limited are quality products of international standard.

    Monarch hails Grand Oak for supporting Osun Osogbo Festival

    The Ataoja of Osogbo, the Osun State capital, Oba Jimoh Olanipekun, has hailed a major sponsor of Osun Osogbp Festival, Grand Oak Limited, for its continued support for the festival.

    At the presentation of the company’s products, including Seaman Schnapps, Regal and Lord’s Dry Gins at his palace, Oba Olanipekun also expressed happiness at his Appeal Court victory in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on July 22.

    The monarch said this year’s festival, which began at the weekend, would be celebrated with funfair.

    He blessed the company, which he described as a true partner in progress.

    Oba Olanipekun said: “I am extremely happy for this day. This is my first outing after my victory at the Appeal Court in Akure on July 22. The victory, no doubt, will make this year’s Osun festival remarkable in all ways. My victory has made it clear to everyone that it is only God Who enthrones and dethrones.”

    Grand Oak’s Category Manager Olayinka Amuwo said the company valued traditions and cultures, adding that it would continue to feature prominently in major festivals across the country.

    The manager noted that Grand Oak had been partnering the organisers of Osun Osogbo festival, which he said had put Nigeria on the world tourism map.

    Also, the festival’s consultant Ayo Olumoko said this year’s festival would be unique, despite the economic crunch and technical recession.

    He said many of the corporate organisations were supporting the event in many ways.

    Olumoko said the main aim of the event was to celebrate and project the distinct African value and culture to other African countries and beyond.

    The consultant said Osun Osogbo Festival would today organise a symbolic ritual for cleansing the town, called “Iwopopo”.

    According to him, the organisers will ensure the safety of life and property before, during and after the event.

    Lexcel Group appoints Odesile as Managing Director of Grand Oak

    The Chairman and board of directors of Lexcel Management/Nigeria Distilleries has appointed  Aare Fatai Odesile as Acting Managing Director, Grand Oak  Limited, effective March 28.

    Odesile was the Commercial Director before his elevation to the position of Acting Managing Director of Grand Oak Limited (GOL), following the exit of the former occupant.

    He started his working career with 7up Bottling Company Plc in 1991 and moved to NDL as a Research and Development Officer the following year. He rose rapidly to become the R&D Manager before crossing over to Sales and Marketing, where he rose to become the pioneer Marketing Director of GOL in 2010

    A Second Class Upper division graduate of Industrial Chemistry from the prestigious University of Ibadan (UI) and MBA from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Aare Odesile comes with over 25 years cognate experience and has attended several courses at home and abroad at respected institutions, such as Cranfield School of Management, UK; Witz Business School, South Africa; MCE, Brussels, Belgium and Lagos Business School.

    Odesile has held various positions in the Nigerian Marketing Communications industry, including headship of Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), past Council Member  Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria(APCON), Advertising Sectoral Group (HASG).

    He is a fellow of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (FNIMN); Chairman, Board of Trustees of ADVAN and a member of the prestigious Ikeja Golf Club and Lagos Country Club

    He is happily married with Children.

    Similarly, the board has announced the appointment of Mr. Adekunle Rosiji as the Group Executive Director & Head, Drinks Business (with responsibility for Nigeria Distilleries Ltd, Grand Oak Ltd., Supreme Distilleries Ltd. & Grand Oak International Brands), effective 28 March 2016.

    Since 2005, Adekunle Rosiji has had a successful international career in Finance and Marketing. He began his career as an Investment Banker in Corporate Finance (M&A and Restructuring) on Wall Street and in the City of London. He has worked at Goldman Sachs, KBC and Houlihan Lokey.

    After founding and selling two online, financial retail businesses, Adekunle established Grainger West’s Debt Finance practice and built their HR Consultancy and Executive Search desk franchises in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Abu Dhabi, Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai. Adekunle joined Lexcel Group in 2013 and previously oversaw the Business Development function for the Drinks Business. He holds a BA Honours degree in Law, Economics and Accounting from Newcastle University, an MSc. Finance from the European Business School, London and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Hult International Business School where he graduated as a Dean’s Scholar.

  • Grand oak rewards consumers

    It is reward time for customers in the Grand Oak promo – a marketing and distribution arm of Lexcel Group.

    Grand Oak is the manufacturer of Calypso Coconut Liquor, Lord’s Dry Gin, among others.

    The promo, an in-store and in-bar  campaign, kicked off at the same time in Lagos, Calabar, Port Harcourt, Onitsha, Uyo, Warri, Ughelli, Agbor, Enugu, Abakaliki, Aba and other cities.

    Sales canvassers dressed in branded T-shirts were in select markets with assorted gifts worth millions of naira and gave them to customers for every purchase of Lord’s Dry Din or Calypso Coconut Liquor made.

    Consumers’ response had been massive with leading Lagos bars and clubs, such as Ice Lounge, Surulere; Admirals,  Surulere;  O’jez, National Stadium; Lounge, 37, Surulere,  La Mango-GRA, Ikeja,  AY Bar-WEMPCO Road, Ogba and Illumina  Banilux-Sabo, Yaba, being in the forefront of the activation.

    Others were the Officers’ Mess-Sabo, Yaba, Kingston Joe- Apapa, Metro Park-GRA, Ikeja, The Hub-Adenyi Jones, Ikeja, Grasshoppers- Festac, Cynergy Hotel& Bar-Amuwo Odoffin, Stephane’s Place-Apapa, Ember Creek- Ikoyi  and Xover Lounge in Lekki.

    According to the firm’s General Manager, Marketing, Mr. Brajesh Kumar, the promo was designed to further connect the company with its customers in the Southsouth, Southeast and Lagos and to strengthen its leadership position in the spirit and wine segment of the alcoholic beverages market. The exercise, which has so far recorded high level mileage, Kumar explained, was aimed at brand penetration and rewarding of loyal customers, stressing that the target group is the retailers in the open market.

    Apart from the prizes won, consumers are also learning some tricks about the production process of their favourite drinks. For instance, a consumer, who simply identified himself as Stephens at the O’Jez, National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, said the brand activation has given him the opportunity to learn how to make beverages.

    “It has given me the opportunity to learn about cocktails. I now know that with the Lord’s Dry Gin, you can come up with various cocktails of delight and savour for discerning consumers with taste and fashion.”

    Donald Johnson, who was savouring a glass of the gin in bar in Lekki-Lagos, said he never knew the Lord’s Dry Gin was tasteful. “It tastes nice and is better enjoyed when served cold, I used to think it is very hot. I might consider going into the sale shortly, many of my friends will surely like the fine smooth taste, it is not what we thought it was, it is pleasing and enjoyable,” he said.

    A trader, who sells the product at Mushin, Moji Adisa, was specially excited at her gifts from the canvassers, exclaiming: “This is wonderful; though I have been selling various Grand Oak and Calypso coconut liquor products for some time, this is the first time I will get these gifts from them. I appreciate them. They will inspire me to identify with them more, because the demand from people who love it increases daily. I will be stocking more henceforth,” she said

    Brand Manager, Grand Oak Limited, Jacob Akaade, scored the  the promo high, adding that the response from consumers has been impressive.

    “They have been responding in droves, they are associating with the brand, clubs and bars not covered in this exercise so far are mounting pressures on us from all over the place, asking us to come and replicate it in their places,” Akaade said.

    Lord’s Dry Gin and Calypso Coconut Liquor are premium brands from the stable of Grand Oaks Limited.

    Other leading brands from the foremost spirit marketer in the country are Regal Dry Gin, Bacchus Tonic Wine, Dark Sailor, Rum and its flagship brand, Seaman’s Schnapps.

    Grand Oak at Lagos Trade Fair

    Grand Oak Ltd (GOL), a leader in the wine and spirits market in Nigeria is showcasing its prime brands namely, Seaman’s Schinapps and Calypso Coconut, among others at the ongoing 2013 Lagos International Trade Fair organised by Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

    The Fair which has the theme, Harnessing Trade Potentials for an Inclusive Economy is being held in partnership with the Federal and state Governments.

    Speaking on the event, Grand Oak, General Manager, Marketing, Mr. Brajesh Kumar, said, “Grand Oak Limited will latch on the opportunity to project its corporate image and exhibit its brands to visitors and participants from within and outside the country who will be at the fair.”

    Mr. Brajesh added that the trade fair will also create the opportunity for the company’s numerous customers to have a chance of buying and stocking their favourite products for the festive period.
