  • What to know about Gas Gun Victor Spyder

What to know about Gas Gun Victor Spyder

Controversy has trailed the Police’s alleged discovery of a gas gun (Spyder Victor) recovered from a robbery gang in Lagos.

Lagos Police Commissioner Idowu Owohunwa told reporters of how policemen foiled a robbery attempt on Eko Bridge and recovered a unique pistol from the suspects.

Owohunwa, who paraded the suspect and others, described the gun as a unique gun, Spyder Victor, “we will get to the root of the matter. There were two suspects, but one jumped to death into the Lagoon from the Eko Bridge”.

Many argued that the gun (Spyder Victor) is a paintball marker only used for recreation and is not intended to be lethal as against the claims of the Police commissioner.

Checks by The Nation reveal that the Gas Gun Victor Spyder, often referred to simply as the Spyder Victor, is a paintball marker (also known as a paintball gun) manufactured by the Kingman Group. It’s one of the most popular and widely recognized entry-level paintball markers on the market.

Here are things to know about Gas Gun Victor Spyder

    Design and Construction:
The Spyder Victor is a semi-automatic paintball marker designed for recreational paintball play. It features a simple and rugged design, typically made of lightweight aluminum, making it easy to handle and maintain.

Operation: The Spyder Victor operates using a carbon dioxide (CO2) or compressed air (HPA) tank to propel paintballs. It uses a blowback operation, which means that the bolt is pushed back by the expanding gas to chamber the next paintball and prepare for the next shot.

Semi-Automatic: It is a semi-automatic marker, which means you need to pull the trigger for each shot. There is no need to manually re-cock the marker after each shot; it does so automatically.

Accuracy and Range: While the Spyder Victor is generally accurate for its price range, it is not designed for long-range precision. It’s most effective in close to mid-range paintball engagements.

Maintenance: The Spyder Victor is known for its ease of maintenance and cleaning. It’s a good marker for beginners because of its simplicity.

Affordability: One of the standout features of the Spyder Victor is its affordability. It’s often recommended as a budget-friendly option for players who are just getting into paintball and don’t want to invest heavily in their equipment.

Customization: The Spyder Victor is often seen as a platform for customization. Many aftermarket upgrades and accessories are available, allowing players to modify and personalize their marker to their liking.

Availability: As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the Spyder Victor was widely available through various paintball retailers and online stores. However, product availability and specifications may have changed since then, so it’s a good idea to check the latest information and reviews before making a purchase.

Basic Marker: Keep in mind that the Spyder Victor is a basic entry-level marker. While it’s suitable for beginners and recreational play, more advanced players may eventually seek higher-end markers with advanced features and performance capabilities.

In summary, the Spyder Victor paintball marker itself is not inherently dangerous to humans when used responsibly and within the context of organized paintball games with proper safety measures in place.

However, neglecting safety rules, not wearing appropriate protective gear, and using the marker inappropriately can lead to injuries.

Paintball is generally considered a safe sport when played with care and attention to safety guidelines.

  • Anambra church shooting regrettable- Catholic Diocese

Anambra church shooting regrettable- Catholic Diocese

The Catholic Diocese of Nnewi, Anambra, has described Sunday’s attack on worshippers at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu, by a gunman as regrettable.

The church, in a statement signed by Rev. Hygi Aghaulor, Director of Communications of the Diocese, and available to newsmen, said that the Parish Priest, Rev Fr. Jude Onwuaso escaped unhurt.

He described the act as a sign of loss of what is sacred and consoled the families of victims of the attack.

“It is regrettable that our people are more and more loosing a sense of what is sacred.

“What on earth would make people open fire on innocent unarmed worshippers including children and women on a Sunday morning?

“We condemn this ungodly act in its totality; we pray Almighty God to console the families affected and assure them that our hearts are with them as we pray for the quick recovery of the wounded.

“For the entire parishioners, we call on them not to be discouraged in their usual practice of faith.

“It is when the forces of darkness attempt to overshadow goodness that the light of God shines even brighter than ever just as it happened on Easter Sunday.

“Evil may make attempts but God and goodness will always triumph; we call on the good people to continue to pray for the deceased worshippers and their families,” Aghaulor stated.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state Mr Garba Umar, has said that the command would leave no turn unturned to bring the attackers to justice.

Umar, who spoke at a news conference in Awka on Sunday, gave the updated figures of casualties as 11 dead and 18 injured.

He ruled out the possibility of a terror attack, and spoke about an isolated feud between individuals in the community.

He said that the command had invited some suspects who would be useful to the investigation.

The CP advised residents to go about their lawful businesses, assuring them that churches and public places were safe.

“At about 6.30 a.m. today, Aug. 6, I got a distress call that gunmen had invaded and shot at worshippers at St. Philips Catholic Church, Umuezekwe, Ofufe, Amakwa Village in Ozubulu, Ekwusigo Located Government Area.

“As a result I, the Commissioner of Police, led my operatives immediately to the scene to rescue worshippers.

“The command, under my watch, will leave no stone unturned in locating and prosecuting those behind the massacre of innocent worshippers.

“The intelligence report and preliminary investigation showed that the incident was as a result of a feud between two individuals from the same community living outside Nigeria.

“One of the individuals built the church where the shooting occurred; it is definitely not a terrorist attack in the mould of Boko Haram or Fulani herdsmen attack.

“The command will brief the public after investigation is concluded; I commiserate with all those who lost their loved ones in this unfortunate incident.

“I also encourage `ndi’ Anambra to be vigilant and to promptly report suspicious movements or strange observation of persons and actions in their localities to the security agencies.’’ Umar said.

  • Melaye survives gun attack in country home

Melaye survives gun attack in country home

Sen. Dino Melaye’s country home at Ayetoro-Gbede in Kogi state was shelled by gunmen early Saturday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), gathered that gunmen surrounded the house after midnight and opened fire from different directions.

Two of the senator’s vehicles parked in the house were damaged. The Senator was not harmed.

Melaye, (APC-Kogi West), was in his country home at Ayetoro-Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area for the Easter holiday at the time of the attack

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP William Aya told NAN that the police received a distress call from the senator at about 1 a.m. and immediately responded.

He said the hoodlums escaped before the police arrived, thereby making any arrest impossible.

Aya said the Commissioner of Police, Mr Wilson Inalegwu had set up an investigation committee headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of operations to unravel those behind the attack.

On his part, Melaye said the hoodlums arrived at about midnight and started shooting sporadically at the main building in the compound.

He said the shooting lasted for almost one hour, adding that apart from the building riddled with bullets, two of his vehicles were damaged.

The senator said he suspected Mr Taufiq Isa, the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government to be behind the attack.

According to him, the attack was politically motivated, because of his criticism of the State Government.

He said: “I got a rousing welcome from Kabba to my home town on Friday and I know it angered the power that be in the state which mobilised for this assassination attempt on my life.

“At about midnight, we started hearing gunshots. They fired more than 200 rounds of bullets into the house. This attempt to kill me will not stop me from speaking the truth.

“If I speak the truth, I will die. If I lie, I will die. I’ve decided to speak the truth and die. I’m not afraid of death. I only respect men, I don’t fear them.

“I am championing an administrative cause. I will continue to speak and be the voice to the voiceless. I’m not deterred; I remain resolute to make Kogi better. Noting will stop me from coming home.”

Melaye also chided the police for not responding quickly to his distress call, saying that the house of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in the town was a stone-throw from the scene of the attempt on his life.

“The DPO did not come to my house until three hours later. Even the area Commander in Kabba was not notified until I called the Commissioner of police. I suspect a Satanic collaboration between Taufiq Isa and the police in Aiyetoro because the duo held a meeting two days ago.

“Only God will protect us in this country but definitely not the police”, he said.

In a swift reaction, Isa denied having a hand in the attempt on the life of the Senator, saying that he had been busy for sometime taking care of his sick wife.

“I’ve never been a violent man. My running battle with Dino Melaye, if any, is because I have asked him to stop villifying the state governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.

“Let him (Dino) prove it. I lost my uncle a week ago; I’m still attending to my sick wife and busy supervising the APC re- registration programmes. I’m a democrat and law abiding. I challenge Dino to prove his case,” he said
