    Representing the Mayor of Brampton, His Lordship Mayor Patrick Brown, a formal delegation was led by Mr. Richard Forward, Senior Manager of the Financial Advisory Budget Office. The delegation highlighted the city’s dedication to fostering international partnerships with influential leaders, attributing this initiative to Chief Okunola’s remarkable spirit of generosity and commitment to empowering others

    The award recognized High Chief Habeeb’s extensive philanthropic efforts, particularly through his Habeeb Okunola Foundation, which has positively influenced numerous lives.     Speaking at the event, Okunola said, “I am truly honoured to be at this year’s edition of the Global Gift Gala in Marbella, themed A Night of Hope and Generosity, having received an invitation from His Excellency Sheikh Mohammad Al-Sabah and Her Highness Princess Béatrice D’ D’Orleans.

    High Chief Habeeb Olalekan Okunola, the Akosin of Yoruba Land, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari and the Awujale of Ijebu Kingdom, Oba Sikiru Adetona, both of whom died on Sunday, July 13.

    In a statement signed by the Lead Head of CINI Holdings, Chief Okunola paid tribute to Buhari’s legacy, describing him as a pivotal figure in Nigeria’s political history.

    He highlighted Buhari’s leadership as both a military ruler (1983–1986) and a democratically elected president (2015–2023), noting that his dedication to integrity and anti-corruption efforts distinguished him among Nigeria’s leaders.

    Chief Okunola also mourned the death of Oba Adetona, calling both losses a significant blow to the nation.

    He emphasised that their contributions to governance and traditional leadership will be remembered for generations.

    “Former President Muhammadu Buhari would be greatly missed, especially during these challenging times. As an incorruptible leader, he worked diligently to ensure political and economic stability in Nigeria. His administration invested in modern infrastructure that benefited the nation immensely. I had the honour of receiving both of my national honours under his patronage, a testament to his ability to recognise and reward hard work and talent. His passing has created a void that will take time to heal.”

    In a separate announcement, Chief Okunola extended his condolences to the people of Ijebu, urging them to remain resilient and composed during this difficult period. He reflected on the legacy of Oba Sikiru Adetona, who ascended to the throne at the tender age of 26 in 1960 and passed away at the age of 91.

    He stated, “Kabiyesi Awujale is an iconic figure in Nigeria’s cultural and political sphere. Under his guidance, Ijebu thrived and experienced remarkable growth, notably through the elevation of the Annual Ojude-Oba festival, which has gained international acclaim. I encourage the people of Ijebu to celebrate rather than mourn, for Oba Sikiru led a life full of impactful contributions, and the lives he touched are countless.”

    Chief Okunola concluded his statement by acknowledging that the deaths of both leaders have plunged Nigeria into a period of mourning. He called upon the people of Daura, Katsina, and the residents of Ijebu-Ode in Ogun State to remain strong as they navigate through this profound loss, praying for the strength and fortitude to bear the irreplaceable absence of these esteemed leaders.

    He emphasized the need for a business-friendly climate as a crucial catalyst for Nigeria’s progress, particularly at a time when the nation is undergoing significant reforms across key sectors. 

    His remarks came during the convocation ceremony of the City University in Maison de l’Amérique latine, Bd Saint-Germain, Paris, France, today the 14th of February, 2025, where he was honoured with an Honorary Professional Doctorate Degree in Business Management with (specialization in Entrepreneurship & Innovation Management) (Honoris Causa).

    While accepting his award from the President of City University, Dr Alaric Naude, Okunola highlighted the vital role of entrepreneurship in driving the development of Africa. 

    He praised the government for its initiatives aimed at reforming the Nigerian economy and laying the groundwork necessary for sustainable growth. He pointed out that the nation’s future prosperity heavily relies on its youthful population, who are the leaders of tomorrow. 

    Okunola noted that the recent increase of the so-called “Japa Syndrome,” a phenomenon where talented individuals leave Nigeria for better opportunities abroad, serves as a critical wake-up call for the government.

    Okunola further elaborated, “To elevate Nigeria’s economy to unprecedented heights, the government must simplify the processes involved in doing business and actively invest in our youth. This will not only enhance the nation’s image but also attract foreign direct investment, which is essential for reducing unemployment rates significantly.”

    As a staunch advocate for youth empowerment, Okunola is committed to supporting government initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship. 

    He also made a clarion call on well-meaning Nigerians to contribute to the quota by supporting the government as the development of youth should not be left to the government alone.

    For the Akosin of Yoruba land the award is coming a day before his birthday on the 2nd of August which signifies a promising omen for him.

    While celebrating his forty-third birthday today, the graduate of philosophy from the University of Lagos has disclosed that he would be having a private celebration and will spend the day offering prayers to his creator with the invitation of clergymen who would pray and thank God for sparing his life till this very moment.

    Sources say he would later in the evening play host to his close circle of friends at his Lagos mansion which will round off the celebration where everyone will eat and drink.

    Okunola who is an alumnus of Harvard Business School and London Business School, reiterated his love for philanthropy and development within his immediate environment.

    He founded the Habeeb Okunola Foundation HOF which caters to the downtrodden; providing education and business grants to the needy, women empowerment, and a host of others.

    The company thrived excellently well in the areas of value creation, procurement, and real estate among others. While running the company; there was one thing that stands him out; His ability to think out of the box and employ the virtues of patience and trust in his dealings. This further helped the company grow beyond his imagination and has today given birth to the creation of TILT Construction which he founded in 2013 and later metamorphosed into the TILT Group of Company which has today moved beyond the shores of Nigeria and also created several unimaginable projects littered across the length and breadth of the country.

In other to celebrate his efforts; the Late Alaafin of Oyo; Late Oba Lamidi Adeyemi bestowed and coronated him as the Akosin of Yorubaland and also later coronated as the Aare Tayese of Iseyinland. Despite bagging these titles; he further intensified his effort by being in the spotlight for laudable projects catching the attention of both local and international media. His name and deeds began to spread like wildfire beyond the shores of Nigeria to Dubai, the United Kingdom, the Benin Republic, and Singapore among other countries. 

    As He continue to rise astronomically; his giant strides caught the attention of His Excellency, former President Muhammadu Buhari who bestowed him with the national honour of the Member of the Order of Niger MON and the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic OFR. The alumnus of Harvard Business School and London Business School has also won several awards to his credit. Recently, at a glittering ceremony held on Friday the 24th of November, 2023 at the esteemed House of Lords in Westminster, London United Kingdom, he won the prestigious Euro Knowledge Leadership Award and the Forbes Beat of Africa Business Leader Award 2023.
