    Notorious terrorist Halilu Sububu shot dead  by soldiers

    One of the top terrorists operating in the North West, Halilu Sububu, has been killed by the military in the current onslaught against bandits.

    The Nigerien met his waterloo just 24 hours after posting a video in which he asked his fellow wanted terrorists, Bello Turji, Dankarami, Dogo Gide and others to stop killing poor people and focus their fight against the military.

    Sububu, according to the Deputy Director Information and Public Relations Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, was eliminated in Mayanchi village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State during ongoing efforts  by NAF and ground forces to “exploit intelligence and secure the area” following contact with the adversaries.

     Thirty-eight other bandits were killed alongside Sububu,the NAF spokesman said.

    Four bodies of the bandits, including that of Sububu were retrieved for verification.

    He said: “In addition to the elimination of the terrorists, a significant cache of weapons was recovered, including two Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) tubes, one RPG bomb, three PKT machine guns, five AK-47 rifles, 29 magazines, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition of varying calibers.”

    It said the operation underscored the “effectiveness and professionalism of the NAF Special Forces in leading critical missions in conjunction with other services aimed at neutralising threats and maintaining national security.”

    The Nigerian Army,in its own account of the operation described it as  a ferocious strike on the terrorist and his gang in a deliberate and discreetly coordinated offensive.

    It said the troops took the offensive to the terrorists’ identified crossing point in Mayanchi.

    Sububu and his fighters were said to have put up a fierce resistance but succumbed to the overwhelming firepower of the troops.

    It said: “Troops have also destroyed the terrorists’ camp and currently conducting further exploitation in the general engagement area and even beyond.”

    A bandit kingpin, Halilu Sububu, and 38 of his foot soldiers have been killed in a military operation in Zamfara state.

    Sabubu and his fighter met their Waterloo during a joint operation led by three personnel of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Special Forces on Thursday, September 12, near the Mayanchi area of the state.

    The operation, according to a statement by a Deputy Director of Information and Public Relations NAF Headquarters, Group Captain Kabiru Ali, was part of an ongoing effort by NAF and ground forces to “exploit intelligence and secure the area” following contact with the adversaries.

    The statement said: “NAF Special Forces of Operation HADARIN DAJI in the company of other ground troops initiated a follow-up exploitation mission after troops encountered terrorists in the vicinity of Mayanchi.

    “During the mission, it was confirmed that 38 terrorists had been neutralized, with 4 bodies retrieved for verification.

    “In addition to the elimination of the terrorists, a significant cache of weapons was recovered, including two Rocket-Propelled Grenade (RPG) tubes, one RPG bomb, three PKT machine guns, five AK-47 rifles, 29 magazines, and over 1,000 rounds of ammunition of varying calibres.”
