    Rotary holds health outreach

The Rotary Club of Gbagada South has held its annual health initiative at the Oworonshoki Health Centre, as part of the Rotarians for Family Health Days (RFHD).

Residents got free tests, treatment, drugs, eye glasses and mosquito nets as well as counselling.

Club President, Afolabi Oluwasanu, said diseases covered include malaria, HIV, hepatitis, cataract, glucoma and dental.

He added: “It is a special programme. Through it we have saved lives.”

Oluwasanu, who expressed satisfaction with the turn out, added that though it cost them a fortune, the club was glad to have provided the service and they would continue to do so, despite lack of government’s support and the harsh economy.

He urged Nigerians to always come out to embrace the service to, among others, enjoy the benefit of knowing their health status and save their lives and remove the excuse of inadequate funds.

“If you know the disease, you will be able to prevent. Even killer diseases are preventable if well managed. We have been doing this for years; it is not new to us: eye tests, and surgeries, among others,” he said. We spend our time, money and energy.

Three beneficiaries – Mrs Muritala Murufat, a trader; Mrs Adisa Nurudeen; Madam Folashade Owolabi and Festus Agholor, a self-employed from Delta State – thanked the club for the gesture.

Agholor added: “I have been coming here (to RFHD) for a couple of years. And Rotary has always given us free treatment and drugs.
