  • Real estate firm marks 10th anniversary with Health Walk

    As part of its activities to mark its 10th anniversary in the Real Estate sector in Nigeria, Propertymart Real Estate Investment Limited, a real estate investment firm, recently embarked on a health walk in Magodo, Lagos.

    The five-kilometre walk , which was an exercise organised by the firm, saw members of staff and management walk from Dipo Awolesi Street, off Adekunle Banjo Avenue, Magodo GRA, Phase 2, through to Otedola bridge and other streets in the business region.

    Some customers of Propertymart, as well as residents of Magodo GRA, joined management and staff to embark on a health walk to promote the importance of exercise in the corporate world.

    Group Managing Director of Propertymart Real Estate Investment Limited, Mr. Adeyinka Adesope, said the health walk was to sensitise and encourage staff and customers on the need to adopt healthy routine in their respective homes.

    He indicated that Nigerians in general go through a lot of stress every day, sitting for long hours hence the need to exercise to keep the body fit.

    “Paying attention to our health is very crucial; it helps to reduce medical bills. It has economic advantage, so we believe as a company that builds beautiful homes, creates good environment for people to live, our customers should pay attention to their health. And our health work programme is just an example of what we are saying,” said Adesope.

    Speaking about the company’s 10th anniversary, the entrepreneur with over a decade experience in the business world said surviving 10 years of business in Nigeria despite the challenges at the early stage was worth celebrating.

  • Unilever, dental association hold health walk

    unilever Nigeria Plc, producer of top toothpaste brand, Pepsodent, has partnered the Nigeria Dental Association and other stakeholders for the Oral Health Walk in Lagos at the weekend.

    The event was meant to commemorate the World Oral Health Day and advocate for good oral hygiene among Nigerians.

    The health walk started at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, the state capital, and ended at Johnson Jakande Tinubu (JJT) Park at Alausa, also in Ikeja.

    Notable celebrities, actors and social influencers, like Kaffy, Odunlade Adekola, Fathia Balogun, Muyiwa Ademola, Ruth Kadiri, Shredder Gang and August Secrets.ng supported Pepsodent with health professionals, undergraduate students, banks and Unilever Nigeria employees.

    Free dental checks, free Pepsodent toothpaste and oral health educational materials were given to passers-by during the walk.

    Category Manager for Oral Care at Unilever Nigeria, Toluwaleke Salu said: “Tooth decay is a global widespread disease which affects three out of five children, and almost all adults. This disease can be prevented via good oral hygiene practices. This health walk is part of Unilever Nigeria’s continuous effort to fight oral diseases in Nigeria and promote good oral hygiene.”

    Power Oil holds health walk in Lagos

    It was all fun over the weekend when Power Oil held its third health awareness walk tagged “Power Oil WalkHeartOn”in Lagos.

    Despite the downpour, the event was well-attended, as people came out en mass to join the healthy walk, which started and terminated at the National Stadium, Surulere.

    The yearly walk is designed to promote a healthy lifestyle and remind Nigerians on the benefits of a daily fitness routine.

    Power Oil Brand Manager, Miss Amisha Chawla said: “We are amazed at the turnout, despite the weather situation. It shows that the gospel of fitness/health consciousness which the brand preaches is fast gaining momentum among Nigerians by the day.

    ‘’It was an energetic walk spiced with some music to keep the crowd in high spirits throughout the rainy journey.

    ‘’Confirming from our registration data base both online and offline, we recorded up to 2,032 participants in Lagos alone. However, judging from the current scene, it is clear that the head counts surpass that figure.  Right now, we are gearing up for Enugu and Port Harcourt  for next Saturday.’’

    The firm’s Public Relations Manager, Mrs. Omotayo Abiodun, said it was obvious that Lagosians had a lot of fun with the brand while walking for a healthy heart alongside some popular comedians, such as (Funnybone & MC Bonus) and musical artiste (Sound Sultan).

    The walk started from the National Stadium,moved to Shitta Roundabout, Adeniran Ogunsanya Street, linked Bode Thomas, then turned at Iponri Bridge, faced Alaka and returned to the stadium.

    Members of the Nigerian Heart Foundation supported the walk by giving some talks on the benefits of walking for the heart.

    The foundation’s Programme Manager, Mr. Olatunde Ojo, said a minimum of 30 minutes walk daily was enough to help reduce the risk of coronary heart disease, maintain a good body weight and it ultimately enhances mental alertness and general wellbeing. ‘’As simple as it sounds, the benefits of walking to human lives is unquantifiable as many lives have been lost as a result of a sedentary lifestyle,’’he said.

    Funnybone, MC Bonus and Sound Sultan, who also joined the walk, took turn to perform.

    Power Oil health camps were also available to all, offering free medical checks for participants to ascertain their health statuses, including blood pressure, and BMI.

    The firm promised that the camps would be avaible at future walks.

    The Power Oil WalkHeartOn Health awareness project started in 2015 in Lagos to promote fitness and healthy living among Nigerians.

    Last year, it wasextended to five cities – Lagos, Ibadan, Owerri, Port Harcourt and Abuja.

  • Lions Club holds health walk

    Members of Lions Club 404B-2 led by their district Governor, Abiodun Adediji, have held its last fitness walk for the year. It was tagged Lions Walk for Life.

    The exercise which lasted about three hours commenced at Yabatech Staff School and ended at Rowe Park, Yaba on Lagos Mainland.

    The coordinator of the monthly exercise, Lion Nkoli Ogunubi-Johnson, said that it is the desire of the club to ensure that its members stay fit “because we have a lot of work to do to humanity and if we are not fit physically, we won’t be able to carry out our responsibilities to the public. This walk also serves as an avenue to create awareness and encourage people to join us.”

    Adediji, the pioneer governor of the district, also explained that the exercise goes beyond walking around as it also serves as an opportunity to showcase the organisation to the public.

    “This was introduced because wellness is fitness and fitness is wellness. We decided to walk for life and in doing that we encourage people to join us so we can do more for the society. We really want to do more but we need more people to work with us so we can serve people better. This is an aggressive way of mobilising people to join us,” Adediji said.

    Lions Walk for Life holds every third Saturday of the month. A monthly activity, the walk attracts members of the service club across the district and, according to its management, is meant to encourage a healthy lifestyle and attract more membership from the society.
