    Youth Party sets May 18 for primary, slashes fees

    The Youth Party will conduct its primary elections for the upcoming Lagos State Local Government election on May 18.

    Acting National Secretary, Helen Adoh, said appeals arising from the primaries will be heard on May 19.

    The LG election is billed for July 12.

    Sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms will be held from April 21 to May 15.

    Screening of aspirants will take place on May 16, while screening on appeals will be held on May 17.

    The party said female aspirants and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) will receive a 50 per cent discount on nomination fees.

    Youths aged 25–40 will also enjoy a 50 per cent fee reduction.

    The party said the primaries will be conducted using the One Member, One Vote (OMOV) system.

    There will be no use of delegates or super delegates, while voting will be done electronically via online platforms and SMS, ensuring convenience, security, and secrecy in line with legal requirements. The party said all aspirants will be given equal access to the members’/voters’ list for each constituency.

    “The guidelines for the primaries are publicly accessible on the Party’s website to ensure full transparency,” it said.

    The party reaffirmed its commitment to transparent political leadership and free, fair primaries, while strongly opposing money politics, bribery, violence, repression, and corruption.
