    Henkel Nigeria, a subsidiary of the renowned German multinational Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, organized an engaging science training for pupils of Aanuoluwapo Primary School and Progressive Primary School in Agege, Lagos, in celebration of International Children’s Day.  

    The initiative was part of Henkel’s global educational programme, Forscherwelt (Researchers’ World), aimed at sparking curiosity and inspiring the next generation of scientists. 

    Facilitated by Henkel employees and Ms. Adebayo-Soliu Modinah from the Girls and Women Empowerment and Technological Organisation (GWETO), the training combined practical experiments with interactive discussions to simplify scientific concepts and create a fun learning experience for the children.  

    Speaking on the initiative, Henkel Nigeria’s Managing Director, Rajat Kapur, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering young learners through education.  

    “Through our Forscherwelt Initiative, we aim to inspire the next generation of scientists by making learning both fun and impactful. The training sessions at Aanuoluwapo and Progressive Primary Schools are part of our broader mission to empower young minds with knowledge that extends beyond the classroom. We are proud to collaborate with GWETO to make this vision a reality,” he said. 

    The pupils eagerly participated in various experiments, which sparked their curiosity and deepened their understanding of science in everyday life. 

    Teachers and administrators from the participating schools expressed their gratitude for Henkel’s impactful efforts. 

    The Forscherwelt Initiative, the MD noted, exemplifies the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and its dedication to making education accessible and exciting. By empowering young learners with knowledge and practical skills, Henkel, he reaffirmed is living up to its motto, “Pioneers at heart for the good of generations.”

    Henkel Nigeria, a subsidiary of the global conglomerate Henkel, is celebrating 148 years of its parent company’s operations while reflecting on its growing influence within the Nigerian market since its entry in 2016.

    The company said it has established itself as a significant player in Nigeria’s Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector, with its laundry detergent products gaining widespread popularity and reshaping household cleaning habits across the country.

    Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Dr. Doris Nkiruka Uzoka-Anite, has assured the management of Henkel Nigeria of Federal Government’s support to boost the economy.

    She gave the assurance when the Managing Director, Rajat Kapur, alongside Head of Finance, Kadir Demirtas and other key members of the team, paid her courtesy visit in Abuja.

    Kapur made this known during the Henkel Day celebration in Lagos, recently, to mark Henkel’s 147 years global legacy of innovation, excellence, and sustainability. 

    Founded in 1876 in Germany, Henkel, today, boasts a vast workforce of more than 50,000 across 125 nations and offices in 79 countries, including Nigeria, where its laundry detergent brands, WAW and Nittol detergent, are popular in Nigeria’s FMCG market.

    Kapur said Henkel’s legacy has been its compass, steering the company through change, uncertainties, and disruptions.

    “Through our goal of creating value for all stakeholders, we are enablers of employee empowerment, regulatory compliance, and environmental stewardship.

    “We remain committed to shaping a brighter future for all, not just for ourselves but for generations to come,” the CEO stated.

    Speaking on the firm’s ‘Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion’ agenda, Rajat said, “Henkel was one of the first German DAX companies to establish a dedicated global diversity team. Today, diversity, equity and inclusion are deeply anchored in the company’s strategy and corporate culture.

    Kapur said one of the things that really worked for the company in Nigeria since it established the purposeful growth agenda in 2020 was the fact that “We had since fully ingrained it as part of work culture and transited to a more open transparent culture in our transformation journey.”

    The Henkel Nigeria boss also highlighted the significance of cultural transformation in promoting understanding among employees, fostering stronger relationships, teamwork, and collaboration among team members, ultimately enhancing productivity and innovation within the organisation.

    For instance, through its Peer-to-Peer (P2P) entrepreneurship initiative, over 250 unemployed Nigerian youths have been empowered and transformed into thriving entrepreneurs.

    Also, through its ‘Researchers’ World Initiative’ the company said it has positively impacted over 1000 children and students since 2021 till date.
