    Hon. Okojie promises to ensure growth of petroleum industry

    The Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream ), Hon Henry Odianosen Okojie, has pledged to work hard to ensure the growth of the petroleum industry in Nigeria.

    Okojie made this known when he led members of the Committee on oversight of agencies under the jurisdiction of the Committee in Lagos State.

    During one of the oversight meetings to AA Rano in Lagos State, he said the oversight was also to check the level of compliance to the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) by industry players and ensure the right thing was being done.

    The member, who represents Esan North East/Esan South East, pledged effective oversight to ensure value addition in the sector.

    He said as legislators, they were committed to addressing challenges facing the sector for the good of the nation.

    Okojie backed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s policies aimed at developing the Nation’s oil and gas sector.

    He said the plan of President Ahmed Tinubu for the sector if totally implemented, will lead the country to economic prosperity and infrastructural advancement.

    He assured that the Committee will provide the needed legislative support geared towards advancing the Oil and Gas Sector.

    He stressed that the Committee was not out to witch-hunt anyone but to ensure the right thing is being done by all stakeholders.

    He said would not condone any compromise in the industry that would be detrimental to the good of the Nigerian people

    “We are here because we need to check the level of compliance stated by the PIA and also to inspect the facilities to be sure that you are doing the right thing and also to find out your area of challenges so that as a committee or as legislators, we can come in to assist you.

    “We are not here to witch-hunt rather we are here to be of help to this industry that is dwindling right now

    “We understand that there is turbulence. We are aware. Especially with the recent issues surrounding importation and Dangote refineries and so on and so forth. We are abreast of what is going on in the industry and we have come to see how we as lawmakers can be of assistance,” he said.

    Agencies visited included include A A Rano, Rain Oil Limited, Shellplux Nigeria Limited, NIPCO, Total Nigeria PLC, NNPC Retail Ltd – JV, MRS Oil and Gas Limited, Honeywell Oil and Gas Energy Limited, Conoil PLC, Aiteo Energy Resources Limited, Shema Petroleum, Ibeto Petrochemicals Industries Limited, and 48 others.

    They highlighted their challenges and the committee assured to address them for the benefit of the country.

    …fulfils promises extend initiative to light up communities

    The member representing Esan North East/Esan South East Federal Constituency of Edo State, Prince Henry Odianosen Okojie, has expressed his commitment to improving the lives of his constituents.

    This was as he has carried out his promise to extend the “Operation Light Up Agbazillo Project” to Ukhuesan, Emu and Awo communities.

    The “Operation Light Up Agbazillo Project” is an initiative by the lawmaker to light up the entire 21 wards that made up the Federal Constituency. 

    The initiative brings the total street light installations streets, roads and communities to 31 according to a statement by his media office.

    In keeping to his electoral promises, Hon. Okojie stated that the desire to improve the lives of his people remains key, therefore the installation of the street lights in Emu, Ukhuesan and Awo communities in Esan North East and Esan South East Local Government Areas of Edo State respectively.

    Okojie, who said this is a necessary and essential tool for development, stressed that the wellbeing of his people remains top priority.

    He noted that the project would enhance security and tackle socio-economic challenges of the people considering the importance of light to human and societal development.

    Hon. Okojie who is also the Chairman, House Committee on Petroleum Resources (Midstream), reiterated that the project is in line with his developmental agenda.

    The lawmaker, who is fondly called “Mr Project” by his constituents, also charged the contractors to speedily complete the installation.

    He he enjoined benefiting communities to jealousy guard the solar light project in their interest and for the overall development of the community. 

    He also appealed to other communities in the constituency to be patient as no community would be left out.

    Almost a year in office, Hon. Okojie has successfully light up several streets and communities among which are; Ewohimi Community; Ubiaja; Iyere Street; Convent Road;. Uwalor Road; Okojie Street;  Afuda Road; Old Agbor Road; General Hospital Road and  Okhenlen Road.

    Others include Taxona – Unawazi Road; Godswill Road;  Idumu-Eson – Ukoni;  Arekhandia Street; Irabor Street (Monday Eboh Street); Idumu – Are/ Idumu – Oza; Oboh Street; Uromi Motor Park; Ibo Quarters and Ataga/Hon. Festus Edughele Road.

    Also included are Police Station Road; Udo Junction/ Ugbenin Road; Forest Road (Sen. Odion Ugbesia Road); Uhe Street – Freedom Road; Wire Road in Idumu – Ebor & Idumu – Ehan; Elo Street in Eguare; Market Road in Eguare and Ojierhomin Street in Eguare.

    Residents of benefitting areas expressed gratitude to the lawmaker for lighting up their communities through the initiative.

    They were grateful that the development has resulted to the restoration of Socio-economic activities in the captured areas.

    They said Okojie was centered on bringing democratic dividends to the door step of the citizens.
