The traditional ruler of Otumara Community in Lagos Mainland Local Government, High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye, has praised President Bola Tinubu for launching a new public awareness campaign aimed at promoting child safety and civic responsibility.

The initiative, titled “See Something, Say Something, Do Something”, was unveiled during the President’s address on Children’s Day and is designed to foster a culture of vigilance and proactive protection of children across the country.

“This campaign will not only protect our children but will also empower Nigerians to report wrongdoing wherever it occurs,” Kalejaiye said. “It’s a positive step towards building a more accountable and responsive society.”

He said, “The “See something, Say Something and Do Something” campaign of the President is very crucial not only to protecting the children but also to enthroning good and corruption-free government and encourage citizens to report suspicious activities and insecurity in their communities.

“Our children are our future. They need to be protected against trafficking, bullying and other forms of degrading enterprise.

I will also like to emphasise the importance of this initiative in promoting good governance and checking corruption. If our politicians and public officers are aware that they are been monitored, they won’t want to soil their hands in bad deeds.

“Corruption is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into our fabric as a nation and until it is curbed or brought down to the barest minimum, the country and its people will continue to suffer its consequence.

“This is why I commend the president on this great initiative. But I also want to appeal to him to ensure its full implementation and not allow it to go in the way of other public awareness initiatives.”

Kalejaiye also commended President Tinubu for his sterling performance in the last two years.

He praised Tinubu for his investment in education particularly the Student Loan Scheme, infrastructure and other institutional reforms.

He added, “The president has achieved remarkable progress in the last two years. These are visible in all sector of the economy. I commend him for this and I pray Nigerians experience more transformative stride under his watch in the second half of his tenure.”

Describing the tragedies as avoidable, Kalejaiye called on federal and state governments to declare a state of emergency in the food sector to address the nation’s pressing challenges.

May God forgive their souls” he said.

“This is no time for tribalism or religious bigotry. We must stay as one to be able to confront our common enemies so that Lagos State and Nigeria may survive.

“I urge us all to make this Christmas a celebration of love, tolerance, hope, and prayers for our country and its leaders.

Lagos monarch advises pupils to embrace positive learning, shun cultism

High Chief Kehinde Kalejaiye, the traditional ruler of the Otumara community, has advised pupils and children to steer clear of cultism and instead embrace positive learning for a brighter and more fulfilling future.

As the grand patron of the Lagos Mainland and Yaba Local Government Schools Sports Officers Association, Kalejaiye delivered this advice during the annual Inter-House Sports competitions of Lagos Mainland Local Government Primary School, Ijero Baptist Primary School, and U.A.M.C Eleja Primary School, Ebute-Meta (West) Lagos, held on Thursday and Friday at the schools’ premises.

He urged the pupils to remain vigilant about their safety and surroundings, encouraging them to report any suspicious activities, physical harassment, or attempts to involve them in cultism to their teachers or parents.

He said: “We thank Almighty God for making this sports event a successful one. I commend all participants in various categories of sporting events including the teachers, pupils, and handlers in both schools. I must say, the event was well packaged. Congratulations.

“Also, let me state this, Ijero Baptist Primary School is very dear to my heart not just because the Omolara Kalejaiye Lemon House is sponsored by me but because I began my primary school education here before I left when I was in primary 2. In fact, walking into the school premises brings to my mind the memories of yester years. I give God all the glory for that.

“To the pupils, the best advice I can give and that which I have always been given is for you to be good children to your parents, teachers, and your neighbours.

“You should always obey your parents because being attentive and an obedient child is rewarding both now and in the future. Don’t join cultists and don’t move with bad friends. Face your education for a brighter and more rewarding future. Let me ask you, is cultism good or bad? As you are aware cultism is bad, so don’t join it. We are now in an age where cultism is being introduced to primary schools.

“You are leaders of tomorrow and that tomorrow is what you preparing for today. For a brighter future that lies ahead, if anybody tries to lure you into bad company or cultism, report such to your teachers at school or if it is at home, don’t hesitate to report such a person to your parents. Always remember at all times to be a good child and a good ambassador of your school.”

The high point of the sports events was the presentation of trophies and cash gifts to first, second and third places by the grand patron.
