Hon. Okpolupm Etteh, who represents Eket/ONNA/Esit-Eket/Ibeno Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed profound sorrow over the death of Nigeria’s immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR.
In a statement released on Sunday through his media office, Rep. Etteh, who also serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on University Education, described the late President as a statesman whose legacy was rooted in discipline, integrity, and a deep commitment to national service.
He noted that Buhari’s leadership, both as a former military Head of State and a two-term civilian President, significantly shaped Nigeria’s political and economic direction.

“President Buhari’s passing is a great loss to our country. He was a leader who, despite divergent views on his policies, remained steadfast in his vision for a stronger, more secure, and self-reliant Nigeria,” Etteh said.
He extended his condolences to the Buhari family, the government and people of Katsina State, and the entire nation, praying for divine comfort and the peaceful repose of the late President’s soul.
He called on Nigerians to reflect on the values President Buhari espoused, which, according to him, included discipline, patriotism, and anti-corruption, and called citizens to work together in unity to build the Nigeria of our collective dreams.
Rep. Etteh urged the Buhari family to find solace in the legacy of honour and service their patriarch left behind, noting that history will forever remember him as a courageous leader who served with conviction.
