A statement by Comrade Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder, the National President of HOSTCOM Youths Council, expressed appreciation for the transparency and integrity demonstrated in the 2024 Oil Mining Licence (OML) bid process, which led to the award of the oil block to Chief Ojogho.

Pathfinder hailed Ojogho as a distinguished son of the Niger Delta, known for his contributions as a technocrat, industrialist, and philanthropist.

He said his leadership at Broron Oil and Gas Group is highlighted, particularly regarding the employment of an indigenous workforce and initiatives that support local capacity building.

He underscored the necessity for local content development in the oil and gas sector, aligning with the Nigerian Content Act of 2010 and advocated for reforms that empower indigenous operators in the industry.

Pathfinder said the efforts of the industrialist through the Henry Ojogho Foundation (HOF) to empower the youth in Isoko land, particularly in education and mentorship, are emphasised as crucial initiatives for grassroots development.

HOSTCOM to Tinubu: disregard allegations against NNPCL’s GCEO Ojulari

The Board of Trustees and leadership of Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas  (HOSTCOM) has called on President Bola Tinubu to disregard what it described as the unsubstantiated and false allegation by a  group against the Group Chief Executive Officer GCEO, Engr. Bayo Ojulari and new management of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

A statement on Saturday  by High Chief Francis Inegbeniki member, Board of Trustees of HOSTCOM, said Tinubu and Nigerians must understand it is a case of “ corruption fighting back” as certain corrupt individuals  have chosen to be mischievous and orchestrated the plot to undermine the reputation of Ojulari and NNPCL Management.

The body said: “ It has been discovered also that the unknown Coalition was being sponsored by corrupt former top officials of NNPCL sacked by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“The corrupt officials and their collaborators have realised  that it is no longer business as usual as Engr. Bayo Ojulari and his team were doing everything possible to ensure due process, transparency and accountability in the NNPCL”

HOSTCOM also urged President to ignore calls to sack Ojulari, adding that the coalition and their sponsors  are not comfortable with the transformation that is ongoing in NNPCL, and they have resorted to peddling of lies and falsehood against Engr. Bayo Ojulari and management.

It added: “ The new Board and management of NNPCL should be allowed to do their work. We urge President Bola Tinubu to ignore the mischief-makers as their plan is to malign the reputation of Bayo Ojulari, and also to distract him from continuing the good work he is doing in NNPCL.

“ The Constitution prohibit making false allegation.  The relevant agencies must identify the sponsors and bring them to face the law. We urge Bayo Ojulari and the new Management team of NNPCL to remain focused, determined and committed to delivering on the assignment to transform the NNPCL and completely erase corruption from the Oil company.

“ For the record, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed Bayo Ojulari  to clean up, overhaul the NNPCL and reposition NNPCL for greater productivity. We have absolute confidence in Engr. Bayo Ojulari and NNPCL Management. The new Board and management of NNPCL should give priority to revamping PH, Warri and Kaduna Refineries grounded by this same corrupt officials, despite Hundreds of Billions of Naira they claimed to have been spent on repairing the Refineries with no results.

“We know that Engr. Bayo Ojulari’s plan is to reposition NNPCL and he is making efforts to get the Refineries working. Finally, we say, allow Bayo Ojulari to work for Nigerians.”

HOSTCOM youths hail Tantita’s boss on conferment of chieftaincy title

The National Executive and Board of Trustees of the Host Communities Producing Oil, Gas, and Pipeline Impacted States Youth Council of Nigeria (HOSTCOM Youth Council) have extended their heartfelt congratulations to Ambassador Godfrey Tare Pondi, General Manager of Operations at Tantita Security Services Nigeria Limited, on his well-deserved conferment as Ibe-Ebidouwei of the ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Delta State.

In a statement released on Sunday, following the conferment by His Royal Majesty Oboro Gbaraun II, the National President of HOSTCOM Youth Council, Comrade Emmanuel Fiawei Pathfinder (popularly known as ‘General’ Osama), hailed the chieftaincy honour as a fitting recognition of Chief Pondi’s enduring humanitarian efforts and steadfast commitment to sustainable youth empowerment in the Niger Delta region.

Comrade Pathfinder emphasised that Chief Pondi’s consistent work to uplift lives aligns perfectly with the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted in 2015. He noted that this alignment underscores Pondi’s dedication to global best practices in human and community development in the Niger Delta.

Beyond his achievements in the security sector, Comrade Pathfinder highlighted Pondi’s role as a beacon of hope and transformation through his philanthropy and development initiatives.

He also pointed out that since 2002, Pondi’s leadership had significantly advanced Tantita Security Services toward operational excellence.

Pathfinder concluded by acknowledging Pondi’s unwavering commitment to community empowerment, educational support, and outreach to underserved communities, which has earned him widespread admiration and respect.

He said one of his standout initiatives in the education sector is the Godfrey Pondi Book Club, launched in 2015, noting that the initiative had effectively fostered a culture of reading among the Ijaw people, aiming to enrich minds and reshape perspectives with the wisdom of acclaimed global authors.

He said in recognition of his impactful contributions to both professional and grassroots development, Chief Pondi was honoured as GbaramatuVoice’s Most Outstanding Youth Leader of the Year in 2020.

The HOSTCOM boss, therefore, invited all stakeholders to join in celebrating this significant achievement and to continue supporting initiatives aimed at fostering development, empowerment, and sustainable growth in the region.

Pathfinder stated: “HOSTCOM Youth Council celebrates this new milestone in Chief Pondi’s illustrious journey, reaffirming our support and admiration for a leader who continues to inspire generations.

“The significance of this chieftaincy conferment on the illustrious son of the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom by the revered monarch, His Royal Majesty Oboro Gbaraun II, on the eve of the widely celebrated Amaseikumor Annual Festival Fiesta in Oporoza Community, under Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State — being a historic day — means a lot to us in the HOSTCOM Youth Council of Nigeria.

HOSTCOM backs Dangote, modular refineries to end importation of petrol, diesel, others

The Host Communities of Nigeria Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM) has urged the Federal Government to back the Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals and other domestic refineries to end the reliance on imported petrol, diesel and other refined products.

The group pointed out the long-standing issues with government-owned refineries, which have been inactive for over two decades, lamenting despite being a leading crude oil producer in Africa, Nigeria continues to depend on imports for its refined product needs.

During a visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Ibeju Lekki, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, HOSTCOM’s leadership emphasised the need for Nigeria to refine its crude locally.

The National President of HOSTCOM, Dr. Benjamin Tamaramiebi, accompanied by his executives and traditional rulers from the Niger Delta, toured both the refinery and the Dangote Fertiliser Limited complex.

Notable traditional rulers included the Chairman of the Niger Delta Monarchs Forum, HRM Frank Okorakpo; Deputy Chairman of the Traditional Rulers of Oil Mineral Producing Communities of Nigeria (TROMPCON), HRM Obafemi Ogaro; and Egbesuwei Gbanraun X Agadagba Pere, HRM (Capt) Frank Okiakpe, among others.

In a statement following the tour, HOSTCOM’s President called for nationwide support for the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to eliminate the need for imported refined products.

The group expressed gratitude to the National Assembly and Nigerians but warned against any acts of sabotage that could hinder the country’s progress towards self-sufficiency in refined products.

“We are grateful to the 10th National Assembly, good-spirited individuals and associations who have been rallying support for Aliko Dangote. We HOSTCOM have come today to drum up supports for Dangote Refinery. We will stand with Dangote to put an end to continuous importation of less quality and costly refined Petroleum Products into Nigeria,” the group stated.

The group, comprising all states producing oil and gas in Nigeria, lamented that despite the billions of dollars spent on turnaround maintenance of Nigeria’s refineries, the country remains reliant on importing refined products.

This persistent issue, it argued, highlights the widespread corruption within Nigeria’s oil and gas industry, allegedly orchestrated by influential cabals who are intent on maintaining the status quo of exporting crude oil while importing refined petroleum products. HOSTCOM warned that it will not hesitate to publicly name these identified cabals if necessary.

“Our visit today to the largest and magnificent 650,000 bpd private Refinery in Africa (DANGOTE REFINERY) has opened our eyes to several ills, particularly to the monumental corruption going on in the Nigeria Oil and gas Industry. It is obvious the reason why the existing Federal Government Refinery in Port Harcourt, Warri and Kaduna can never work or operate maximally despite the billions of dollars that have been spent on the so-called Turn Around Maintenance over the years. It is now clear that some persons in government and outside government have been identified as the Cabal holding the Nigeria oil in the Jugular, we have identified them, and we shall make their names known to the people of Nigeria,” it said.

HOSTCOM, which emphasised that every Nigerian’s aspiration is for the country to refine its own crude oil for the benefit of its people, warned that any individual who opposes this national desire will face the wrath of the masses.

The group also lampooned the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, over his recent statement that the government would not halt the importation of refined petroleum products.

HOSTCOM called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remove Ahmed from his position, arguing that his previous associations with key players in the sector make him unfit to effectively regulate the downstream industry.

“We therefore unequivocally call for the immediate sack of Farouk Ahmed. It is now clear that he as the CEO of NMDPRA is responsible for issuing import licenses to his cronies outside the government to continue to import Sub-standards Refined Petroleum Products into the Country. In hindsight, this is not surprising given that he has served on the boards of some downstream companies in the past. He is therefore obviously conflicted and incapable of performing the duties of a regulator for the downstream sector. It is important to immediately replace him with an individual who is not encumbered by such conflict,” the group added.

The group praised the President of Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote for his patriotism in investing in and constructing the refinery in Nigeria, noting that his endeavour has significantly contributed to the country’s economic growth and development. It emphasised that the refinery is crucial in providing local solutions to Nigeria’s refining needs, thereby reducing the nation’s dependency on imported refined petroleum products.

The group urged President Tinubu to support the project, highlighting that it will enhance the economy, create thousands of jobs, ensure the sustainability and affordability of products, and bring substantial benefits to the host communities, among other positive effects.

“We called on President Bola Tinubu to support and sustain this refinery which is in his own state. He must do a way with the cabals holding the oil sector to ransom,” it added.

The group further asserted that the President must not tolerate the economic sabotage being carried out by the International Oil Companies (IOCs) operating in Nigeria, which have refused to sell crude oil to the Dangote Refinery and other modular refineries. They condemned this as an affront to the Nigerian people and a deliberate attempt to undermine the President’s renewed hope agenda, which aims to revive the economy.

“We call on Mr President to direct NNPC OR NNPCL to compel the IOCs operating in our communities to sell and supply Crude Oil to Dangote Refinery and other Local Refineries in line with section 109 of the Petroleum Industry Act PIA 2021 particularly section 109(4)(b) “the supply of crude oil shall be commercially negotiated between the lessee and the crude oil refining licensee, having regard to the prevailing international market price for similar grades of crude oil,” it  added.

It also pointed out that, despite the PIA, the IOCs continue to lack transparency and accountability, alleging ongoing exploitation of oil-producing communities. The group warned that if the IOCs fail to supply crude oil to domestic refineries, host communities will be forced to take decisive action.

“In conclusion, If the NNPC and the IOC fail to abide by the domestic crude oil supply obligation to sell and supply crude Oil to modular refineries and Dangote Refinery, we HOSTCOM will begin agitation for greater Autonomy and control of our resources,” it added.

The VP of Gas and Oil at Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin, who hosted the delegates, explained that the refinery was established primarily to source and refine local crudes for the benefit of Nigeria, while also exporting excess production to boost the economy. He noted that the lack of sufficient Nigerian crude supplies has necessitated importing crude from other countries and continents. He said that if the refinery had not been designed to process a wide range of crudes, including various African and Middle Eastern crudes as well as US Light Tight Oil, it would have become inactive due to the lack of Nigerian crude supplies.

Edwin said that products from the refinery are of superior quality and meet international standards, conforming to Euro V specifications. This high standard has enabled the refinery to export jet fuel to Europe and the United States.

Edwin added that the refinery is committed to environmental protection as it is designed to comply with US EPA regulations, European emission standards, Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) emission norms, and African Refiners and Distributors Association (ARDA) standards.

He also noted that the refinery, dedicated to enhancing local contents, has made substantial contributions to its host communities, and significantly boosted employment opportunities within the country.

3 percent: HostComply app ‘ll checkmate operators – HOSTCOM

Oil and Gas Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSTCOM) at the weekend said the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) created the HostComply app to checkmate the activities of the operators and sharp practices in the management of the 3% allocation.

Its National President,  Highness Benjamin Style Tamaranebi, made this known in Abuja in at a briefing to debunk a media publication “Re-Host communities kick as proposed PIA review ‘shrinks’ 3% allocation.”

According to him, the app is being funded by the commission.

Asked who is funding the HostComply, the National President said: “It is created by NUPRC. The funding will be done by NUPRC. It is their own.
“The are the ones funding it not from the 3% we are talking about. Communities are not funding it. It is an app created by NUPRC to checkmate the settlors (operators) and host communities 3%.”

The National President noted that the commission is funding the HostComply to checkmate the activities of the settlors and Host Communities Development Trusts (HCDTs) both their annual OPEX.
He added that it is meant to expose their sharp practices and also everyone could find out what is due for each Development Trust and could calculate at his comfort in any given time without visiting the operators office

Debunking the media publication that  “Host communities kick as proposed PIA review ‘shrinks’ 3% allocation,” he said over the years, International Oil Companies  (I0Cs), and industry players have pumped millions of naira into the HOSTCOM unlike prior to the 2021 PIA.
According to him, ” We could not see any meaningful projects being initiated by these players and kept our communities in this sorry state we have today.”
Continuing, the National President said, “It is not a hidden fact that our communities producing oil and gas in the country have been suffering devastation deprivations and desecration of all sorts due to the activities of some critical stakeholders who short-change and create divide-and-rule systems to flourish.
“The Host Communities Development Trust (HCDT) was deliberately created to address the concerns of the host communities and stop the activities of the Shylocks and their collaborators.”

He noted that the host communities are committed to increased oil and gas production, stressing that higher production earns the communities more money.

The National President decried the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) which holds them accountable for any vandalization of oil and gas installation within their domain.

Section 2 (Subsection 72) of the Act, stipulates that the communities, where oil and gas assets are vandalised or compromised, be held responsible from the 3% they are entitled to.

But addressing reporters in Abuja at the weekend, Tamaranebi, described the law as obnoxious and unfair for holding the host communities that are not in charge of security accountable for the vandalism of the installations.
