    Glo Big Friday Show hosts new MTV Base Vjs

    FRIDAY, February 8, Glo Presents the Big Friday Show had the chance to watch and interact with the latest MTV Base VJs, Ehiz of Nigeria and Nomuzi Mabena of South Africa, both of whom recently won the Video Jockey (VJ) search in their respective countries are Celebrity Guests of the week on this weekend’s edition of the show.

    Anchored by regular host and popular comedian, Basketmouth, Nomuzi also had the opportunity to present this week’s Big Friday Show Vlog segment. New kids on the bloc SK Boiz were the Up-and-coming artistes for the week. The multi-talented group was given this week’s challenge to perform in order to qualify to showcase their talent to Africa at the end of the show. Viewers will find out how the trio fared and if they were able to showcase their versatility and promote their smashing single, Takundum.

    The Prank Yo Peoples segment continues to get more and more interesting as a Glo subscriber in Lagos Tolu Olayemi got the Big Friday Show crew to pull a prank on his friend, David Oladele. Twenty-five years old Ehiz is a graduate of Computer Electronics of Lead City University, Ibadan, while Nomuzi is a 20-year female DJ from Benoni, otherwise called Ben City in Johannesburg.

  • Foundation hosts USAID administrator

    The Tony Elumelu Foundation has hosted the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Administrator, Dr. Rajiv Shah, at an event designed to highlight new opportunities for partnerships that can accelerate growth and development in Nigeria.

    The trip signals the US government’s interest in transforming the foreign aid landscape by engaging private sector partners to achieve key development goals.

    The visit began with a town hall style panel discussion, during which Dr. Shah and Heirs Holdings Chairman, Tony O. Elumelu, C.O.N., interacted with Nigerian students, entrepreneurs and businesses leaders, answering questions on the topic: “Public-private partnerships and USAID plans for Nigeria’s development”.

    Mr. Elumelu’s advisory role to USAID’s Private Capital Group for Africa (PCGA) Partners Forum, which leverages US public resources to direct private capital to critical development areas, was also publicly announced for the first time on an African soil.

    Mr. Elumelu is the first African to be appointed to the PCGA.

    Thereafter, Dr. Shah and Mr. Elumelu participated in roundtable discussions with several private sector leaders and energy sector representatives to discuss specific ways that USAID can partner the Nigerian private sector. Participants in the discussion included Aliko Dangote, Jim Ovia, Arunma Oteh, Phillips Oduoza and Bismarck Rewane.

    Dr. Shah said: “We are grateful to Mr. Elumelu for his leadership with the Private Capital Group for Africa. We started PCGA because we realise that development partners must change the way we work to engage the dynamic entrepreneurship emerging from the developing world.”

    Super Eagles goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama last week was on hand to host 100 of young Maccabi Tel Aviv fans at the Kiryat Shalom for a festive Hanukah happening and candle lighting event.

    The holiday was marked by special activities with the team fans as the Nigeria’s senior national soccer team captain was seen taking part in special activities with the fans, such as kicking over a wall of team stars, kicking into defined areas of the goal, photo ops with Maccabinio, doughnuts and many more.

    After enjoying the activities,Enyeama and his mates took pictures with the excited fans, greeted them and even conducted a festive candle lighting ceremony for the holiday.
