PAP needs peace, collective support to succeed, says Niger Delta monarch

The paramount ruler of oil-rich Idjerhe Kingdom, Ethiope West Council of Delta State, HRM king Obukowho Whiskey, Udurhie I, has advocated for peace and collective support from Niger Deltans to enable the Dr Dennis Otuaro-led Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), to succeed.

The traditional ruler, while positing that Otuaro is “on the right track”, called for more stakeholders’ meetings to address the perceived grievances.

The Idjerhe king who is the National Chairman, Host Communities of Nigeria (HOSCON) Traditional Rulers and Elders Advisory Council, made the calls in a statement in Warri.

He expressed sadness that some “self-centered ” persons were bent on discrediting the laudable efforts of the PAP boss, Udurhie I emphasized that Dr. Otuaro was doing “everything humanly possible to reposition the PAP office.

He urged stakeholders to consider dialogue in expressing their grievances, rather than protests and petitions.

“Our region and our political appointees cannot achieved the desired result if all we do daily is to protest and write petition aimed at undermining their concerted efforts. Let’s do more of consultations with our sons and daughters in government instead of this dangerous approach of always dragging down our people.

“Collectively, we can achieve more, but individually we cannot achieve anything. As a critical stakeholder in the PAP programme, I am convinced that Dr Dennis Otuaro is on the right track, all that is needed is collective support so that greater result can be achieved,” the monarch said.

He also appealed to the Federal Government to consider an upward review of the monthly stipends to ex-agitators.

“The Federal should convoke a critical stakeholders meeting and look at the possibilities of reviewing the Sixty thousands monthly stipends for the Ex-Agitators, that amount can no longer sustain families and dependants of Ex-Agitator,” the monarch stated.
