    Two held for removing human head at graveyard

    Two persons have been arrested by operatives of the Western Nigeria Security Network (Amotekun), over alleged removal of a fresh human head from a graveyard in Saki, Oyo State.

    The Nation gathered that one of the suspects went to the graveyard on Monday evening to dig the grave and remove the head of a deceased buried the same day.

    A source in the town said the suspects lived in Oba Abimbola layout, Saki. The state Commandant of Amotekun, Col. Olayinka Olayanju (rtd), confirming the arrest yesterday, said the second person arrested was an accomplice, who sent the first suspect to dig the grave.

  • Police arrest suspects with human head 

    Adamawa State Police Command has arrested three people at Tashan-Baba village in Mapeo district of Jada Local Government, Adamawa State, for alleged criminal conspiracy, exhuming and cutting the head of a child, Blessing Johnson.

    Spokesman S.P. Othma Abubakar said in Yola at the weekend that following an intelligence report by a good Samaritan on May 21, the suspects were apprehended and allegedly found the head of Blessing.

    He said seven-year-old Blessing was interred at the village’s burial ground, alleging that a day later, Muka’ilu Ishaya, who claimed to be a butcher, dug her grave and cut her head.

    Abubakar alleged the suspects, Yunusa Audi, Dauda Babale and Muka’ilu Ishaya, have confessed they were contracted by Mr. John Bakari, of Karlahi village, in Fufore Local Government to get a human head for N5 million.

    He said the principal suspect, Bakari, was on the run, adding that he will soon be arrested and arraigned.

  • Man in court for ‘possession of human head’

    A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has remanded a 25-year-old man, Alloy Etim, in prison custody for alleged possession of human head and for allegedly being a member of a cult called Dey-Gbam.

    The suspect, with others at large, allegedly committed the crime on January 25 at Elechi waterside, Mile 1, Diobu, Port Harcourt.

    The prosecutor, Mr. Wilson Isaiah, said the offence “contravenes Section 516 of the Criminal Code, Act cap C38, Laws of the Federation 2004; Section 329A (1) (2) of the Criminal Code, Act C38 Laws of the Federation 2004, 10 (d) of the Secret Cult and Similar Activities Prohibition Law No.6 of Rivers State 2004.”

    Etim was not represented by a lawyer.

    The three-count charge was not read out and he did not take a plea.

    The Magistrate, S.D. Andrew Jaja, said the court lacked jurisdiction to hear the matter and instructed the registrar to forward the case file to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

    He remanded the suspect in prison custody and adjourned the case till April 20, pending advice from DPP.

    A suspected ritualist, Taju Olalekan, has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for alleged possession of a fresh human head.

    A statement by spokesman Adekunle Ajisebutu said the 32-year old suspect was nabbed at Modina, Idi-Aro, Ibadan, about 6:30 am., on Sunday.

    The statement said the arrest followed information by residents, who were curious about the suspect’s strange, suspicious movement.

    “Policemen attached to Idi-Aro Police Division raced to the scene where the suspect was arrested with the exhibit.

    “The suspect said the human head was given to him by his fleeing younger brother, Saheed Olalekan,” the statement further said.

    The Nation learnt the suspect and his accomplice had been dealing in human parts.

    A 38-year-old man, Rasheed Ajibade, has been arrested by the Osun State Police Command for possessing a fresh head of an unidentified woman.

    Other parts of the woman found on him include her private part, liver, intestines, two palms, lungs and blood.

    Parading the suspect yesterday with the human head dripping blood at the state police headquarters in Osogbo, the state capital, Police Commissioner Fimihan Adeoye said operatives on surveillance arrested the suspect at Oluode Market in Osogbo.

    He said: “He was bringing the fresh human head and other vital organs of his victim from Aagba, a community in Boripe Local Government Area of Osun State. We want to establish the identity of the victim and get to know where and how the victim was killed.”

    The police chief, who said his men will get to the root of the killing, added that an accomplice to the suspect, who was in the vehicle in which the human head was found, escaped.

    He said the command would trail and arrest him.

    According to him, the fresh human head and other organs were found in one red Isuzu Rodeo Jeep, with registration number (Lagos) LSD 987 DJ, after the suspect was arrested.

    Addressing reporters, Ajibade, a native of Ikirun, said: “I am an Alfa and herbalist. Somebody, Olorungbede, came to me and said he wanted to do money ritual. I told him the materials for the job, which include a fresh human head, the private part of a woman and others and he promised to get them himself.”

    Ajibade, who said he was fasting, added: “The man brought the fresh human head to me today. My plan was to keep the head and other parts in my place till the end of Ramadan fast before using it for the money ritual.”

    The suspect said the vehicle in which the fresh human head and other parts were found belonged to his brother.

    He said: “I did not kill the woman. It was that the man who brought the human head and other parts to me.”

    A man, Tosin Oluwatosin, has been arrested with a human head in Ifaki-Ekiti, Ido/Osi Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

    Oluwatosin and his brother, David, who is at large, were accused of killing the victim.

    The suspect was grilled by homicide detectives at the state police headquarters to explain the circumstances behind the murder of the 12-year-old victim.

    Confirming the incident to reporters yesterday, police spokesman Alberto Adeyemi said Oluwatosin was arrested about 3.35 pm.

    Adeyemi said: “Yes, it is true. One of the suspects is on the run. The victim is about 12-year-old and we are still looking for the body.

    “We are also on the brother’s trail. After investigation,, the suspects will be charged to court.”

    He said the police would investigate if the brothers were involved in the recent spate of beheadings in the state.

    The state witnessed three beheadings in one week as unknown persons beheaded a farmer in  Ayede-Itaji in Oye Local Government Area. A herdsman was also beheaded in Omu.

    A man, Saheed Musiliu, 37, who was caught with human head, has pleaded guilty to the two counts of unlawful possession of human head and severing the head of Tajudeen Akanbi, 62, from the grave.
    Musiliu pleaded guilty before Chief Magistrate Mrs. Durosaro Kehinde-Tijani at the Oyo State Magistrate Court, Iyaganku, Ibadan.
    Mrs. Kehinde-Tijani ordered that he should be remanded in Agodi Prisons.
    The police arrested the suspect after he was apprehended by residents of Olomi.
    The prosecuting officer, Adewale Amos, told the court that Musiliu committed the offence at 1:30am at Onibuke Zone 1, Aba Alfa, Olomi.
    When the plea was taken, the suspect pleaded guilty.
    The prosecutor said the exhibit was not brought to court, asking the court for more time so that the investigating police officer (IPO), Augustine Ihiere, would bring the exhibit to court.
    The chief magistrate adjourned the case till March 6 for presentation of facts and hearing.

    The Police in Oyo State yesterday paraded a suspected ritualist, Kamoru Oladele, for alleged possession of a human head.

    Briefing reporters at the state police headquarters in Eleyele, Ibadan on its activities last month, the Commissioner, Leye Oyebade, said members of a syndicate, who specialise in selling human parts, were arrested by the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad.

    “The arrest was made possible after the squad received credible intelligence on their clandestine activities.

    “After two weeks investigation, their leader, Kamoru Oladele, was arrested during a negotiation to sell fresh human head for N30,000.

    “When his house was searched, one smoked human skull was recovered.

    “During interrogation, it was revealed that the gang had slangs for different human parts.

    “Such slangs were known only to the initiates. For instance, human head is called Agbon (Coconut),” he said

    According to him, the gang had its killer squad, which helped to hunt for victims, who are killed and dismembered for sale.

    Oladele said their trade was carried out in their human abattoirs at Amuloko, Ibadan and Kuta village, Osun State.

    A 38-year-old man,  Rasheed Alabi, has run into trouble for dealing in human head.

    Alabi was said to have exhumed a body and cut off the head.

    He told the police that he went into selling human heads in order to raise money to buy a motorcycle for commercial purpose.

    The suspect, who hails from  Igbogila in Ogun State, is being held in the custody of the Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS).

    A police source said he was caught last December 14 while trying to sell the head of a dead man at about 10pm in his home town.

    Following a tip-off SARS operatives laid ambush and arrested him with the late man’s head.

    The suspect said: “I had wanted to take the man’s head to a native doctor for ritual purposes, but my friend, Muyi, told me that I could get someone to buy it for N15,000, adding that if I could get at least 10 heads, I would solve my financial problem and feed my family well.

    “I knew the man before he died. There was a small boy who bought the farm where he was buried. I was told that he became rich through selling human heads and I became interested. Unfortunately I was arrested.”

    The command’s spokesperson, Ken Nwosu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), confirmed the incident.
