    Ibom developers supports 160 women with skill acquisition training

    Empowering women with vocational skills is a vital step towards fostering gender equality and inclusive growth in society.

    This effort involves equipping women with practical expertise that can be applied across various aspects of life, including professional, personal, and entrepreneurial settings. Ibom Developers’ recent initiatives to provide skill acquisition training to women in its host communities aim to help them thrive in society.

    On April 8, 2024, Ibom Developers commenced its ongoing skill acquisition training programme, with the theme ‘Virtuous Women’ in Egwenwe and Okoroinyong communities.

    Dignitaries, including His Royal Highness Chief Johnson J. Osiba (Ijongo IV), the Okaama of Egwenwe Community; Mr. Warribo Isaiah, Community Development Chairman, Egwenwe Community; Pastor Johnson Christian Ubulom, Youth President, Egwenwe Community; Mrs. Catherine Monday Ogbofork, Women Leader of Egwenwe Community; Mrs. Sarah Evans Nfeija, Health Officer, Egwenwe Community; and representatives from Okoroinyong community, were present at the inaugural event.

    This skill acquisition programme aims to empower 160 women in these communities with expertise in catering, packaging, hairdressing, wigging, ventilation, and styling. The program took place from April 8 to April 20, 2024, at Egwenwe Town Hall and Okoroinyong Town Hall in Eastern Obolo LGA, Akwa Ibom State, imparting essential entrepreneurial skills to the women in the communities.

    During the inaugural event, Chief Johnson J. Osiba (Ijongo IV), the Okaama of Egwenwe Community, expressed, ‘‘This empowerment initiative will provide our women with the autonomy and decision-making power they need to become self-sufficient contributors to the growth and development of our community.’’

    The participation of women in several economic activities makes their upliftment a potent strategy for economic growth. Their involvement expands the workforce, cultivating heightened innovation and efficiency within the community.

    Mrs. Catherine Monday Ogbofork, Women Leader of Egwenwe Community, emphasised, “Access to training tailored to the needs of women allow them to develop specialised skills. I am glad that this programme has offered options that suit our women’s preferences and goals.’’

    Ibom Developers prioritise health through medical outreach programmes in A’Ibom

    The Ibom Developers have taken their community health intervention to Ikot Okwo, Ikot Ikwot and Ndauku communities of Ikot Abasi Local Government of Akwa Ibom State where it organised a two-day comprehensive medical outreach for indigent residents.

    The programme held between February 6 and 7, 2024, which had as theme: ‘Good health your greatest asset’, is aimed at facilitating early resolution of community health issues, recognising the pivotal role that timely intervention plays in safeguarding the overall well-being of the community.

    Among other health issues for which medical supplies were provided are Malaria, Typhoid, Blood Pressure, Cough, and Skin Rashes. Sugar tests were also conducted given the increasing rates of diabetes in the region. Those diagnosed were provided with guidance on lifestyle changes.

    The Ndauku Community Women Leader, Mrs. Dorothy Akpan Robert, said the initiative by the company will empower the community by fostering healthy citizens and promote the culture of health consciousness and preventive care.

    She said: “Our community is grateful for this generous gesture, and we sincerely acknowledge Ibom Developers dedicated efforts and compassion. This initiative by the company empowers the community by fostering a culture of health consciousness and preventive care.”

    Public health involves preventing diseases, promoting health, educating communities, providing healthcare access, maintaining a healthy environment, and being prepared for emergencies. This helps build resilient communities, a priority for the company.

    Speaking for his community, the  Village Head of Ikot Ikwot Community, Chief Ukpe Uyo Amanama, said “Ibom Developers’ Medical Outreach Programme is a testament to the transformative impact that community-driven health initiatives can have on the lives of individuals and the health landscape of a region.”

    He expressed happiness that Ibom Developers remained committed to the development and empowerment of host communities, focusing on addressing immediate health issues and promoting the well-being of communities, ensuring long-term healthy living.

    According to the Village Chief, the initiative’s primary goal is to facilitate the early resolution of community health issues, recognising the pivotal role that timely intervention plays in safeguarding the overall well-being of the community.

    He said good health is vital for the sustainable development of host communities, and serves as a foundation for economic and social progress. A healthy population is more productive, enabling greater workforce participation. Sound health reduces healthcare costs, encouraging economic stability. Socially, it enhances the quality of life, ensuring communities thrive.

    Ibom Developers’ medical outreach touch 1,400 indigenes

    No fewer than 1400 residents of underserved communities in Ikonta and Obianga communities in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State had their health challenges mitigated when the Ibom Developersorganised a two-day medical outreach with the theme: “Health is Wealth,” at the Ikonta/Obianga Health Centre, Eastern Obolo LGA of Akwa Ibom State.

    The outreach, which was organised by Akwa Ibom health professionals, addressed health concerns such as malaria, typhoid, skin rashes, and other health-related issues for residents including men, women, and children of Ikonta, Lagos Fishing Port, and Obianga Community.

    The Director of Primary Health Care, Eastern Obolo LGA, Mrs. Atim Asuquo Ulo, while declaring the medical outreach open emphasized that the intervention would promote community health.

    She said: “Access to quality health care should be a basic human right. Ibom Developers has remained committed to making a difference in the lives of the communities by providing them with essential health care services and building resilient communities for the future.”

    She explained that physical wellbeing is a fundamental key indicator of sustainable development adding that medical outreach services are one of the ways to ensure improved and continued access to good health care and is vital for curbing the health challenges.

    The Obianga Village Head, Chief Humphrey Humphrey Oyet, said: “This initiative provides a complete method to fostering natural change, preventive, and curative health care services.”

    Ibom Developers focuses on offering critical health care essentials which, consequently, enhances the living standards in the communities.
